The video was shot at John Marshall High School in Los Angeles, California. The school was shut down because of insufficient funds when they shot the clip, so Van Halen not only paid to rent the school for four days of filming, they also contributed money to the city to help get it reopened.
as a 13 year old when this came out, pretty much sums it up and this video was huge on MTV in 1984..there was no bigger band than VH at this time. So happy we can still be able to watch this video with a new audience with more appreciation and no one screaming to have it banned
What's up man! Que Pasa! I'm glad you brought your girl. Glad you reacted to this! Get your girl on board. What's up man! Que Pasa ! Love the smile! Feel it!
There's a difference between reacting to a video versus the song. Btw, middle school boys like looking at beautiful women. I know it's hard to believe. :-)
They were at the top of their game. Amazing double bass shuffle courtesy Alex Van Halen and fantastic aggressive guitar swagger from you know who. Those were great times. Very inspiring!
What I love about this song is the fact that the kick ass drums are done by the brother of a GOAT guitarist & new listeners don’t even know that…..an awesome guitar solo is accompanied by an INCREDIBLE drum beat/rhythm by the GOAT guitarist….cool as shit
To be a famous Rock drummer -you have to do what no-one has done before, at the right and to the right audience. About 20 modern drummers have done it so far -but the most modern music is killing the craft with computerized sound boards.
Funny to think that Eddie originally wanted to be that drummer, but ended up being that guitarist, and Alex became that drummer instead. Some things just have a way of working out for the best like that.
Not really. 99.99% percent of becoming a famous rock drummer is luck. They just happend to end up in the right band. A handful of famous drummers gave the band their distinct sound. Some are nothing more than mediocre.
Definitely one of the best music videos to come out during the MTV era. Yeah, Eddie’s brother is incredible on the drums. That opening with the percussion is iconic. Any true rocker would recognize it immediately.
I was 18 when I saw them live on the second concert of this tour actually on Eddies birthday in January 1984 (Dave had us all sing Happy Birthday to him) I was 20ft from the stage on Eddies side & when the bass drums started this song it was so loud, it felt like I was getting punched in the chest about 100 times. Still my favorite concert & in the 80's I saw everybody.
I met Van Halen at the California World Music Festival 2 day event- April 7-8th 1979 at the L.A. Memorial Colosseum 80,000 + people. David Lee Roth hired my girlfriend's Chimpanzee "Chuck" The Chimp to entertain people back stage dressed just like David in Red and Yellow Silk jumpsuit. (Paid $500 per day) I held Chuck in my arms like he was a two year old and EVERYBODY came to me to see the chimp. I got to stay in their trailer and got a signed Back Stage Pass from the band. I met nearly every legendary artist that played that show. Ted Nugent was real cool, Aerosmith, Eddie Money, U.F.O.,Cheap Trick, and several other groups. I took over 100 awesome photos. It was a great time full of memories. Eddie's guitar playing is out of this world. Alex is a freakin Machine on drums, Michael is bad ass on bass, and they are the real talents in the band. Of everybody there the only real jerk/asshole/self absorbed narcissistic clown was David Lee Roth.
The video is just their way of having fun with the song I remember when this song came out I went to class singing this song and my teachers used to look at me like I was crazy and it was so funny
This song is in "Varsity Blues", a badass movie centered around a group of friends on a fictional high school football team in Texas. They are talking in the parking lot when there sex education teacher drives by wishing them luck in their game that night. As she drives off they're questioning her ability to afford her brand new convertible sports car on a small town teachers salary. A few weeks later they go to a strip club, this song starts playing as this topless lady is standing back to the crowd chest pressed against a chalkboard that says Sex Ed on it. She turns around as the guys are at the bar drinking right in front of her and it's their teacher. Great movie you should check out sometime.
When I was in high school in the mid to late 1990s the local rock station 99.7 The blitz would edit a fart sound during the classroom portion of the song right before Dave says I brought my pencil. They even made it sound like it was in the background. Columbus Ohio's rock station.
After seeing this video dozens of times in the past, this is the first time I noticed that the banner on the "teacher" says Phys Ed! Hah! When I was at a "gentleman's club" years ago, one of the girls came out on stage with this song playing, her hair up in a bun, glasses, a sexy teacher outfit and she was smacking a ruler against her hand....it was life changing! 🤣😆
This is my favorite Van Halen song and the drumming at the beginning is my favorite part. I always thought it sounded like a motorcycle engine as well.
That kid in the black shirt and jeans at 6:59 leaving class could have been my twin- same age, same hair, and same attitude as I was hopping into my brother’s Camaro to go cruise the movies 😊
he he love this reminded me of how i viewed my teacher when i was in high school when this came out ms, haveilen i called her miss heavenly - back then some of our teachers showed up at our parties , sweeet!
Just before my freshman year in High School, I went to Vacation Bible school the summer for something to do. There was this kind of short pretty girl there that nobody could figure out. She rarely talked and we did not know if she was one of us or the college students leading the thing. So my first day of school she walks by me and I call out her name. She turns and says Hi and tells me I can't use her first name because she is the new teacher. So yes I was hot for teacher.
Hell yea in Puerto Rico 80's thas was super hit i was like 13teen and i 🔞in the parcking 🚸 my ENGLISH TEACHER ,🧜♀️wow, wow 80's was so👁 magical ✌🤎🇵🇷💦🌏🌎🌍☮🎼🎩🎸check VAN HALEN music video💣PRETTY WOMAN💥
I went to school in this time period, and there was just as many female teachers as there was male teachers! In fact some of my best teachers was the female teachers!
Eddie Van Halen was the best !! Van halen was the band if my youth as they took me from early teens to adulthood with so many great songs that were all about what I was about,,,..having fun , not taking life too seriously, partying and having fun !! To this day, when I need a pick me up I crank up Van Halen and rock out !! keep those Van Halen reactions coming !!
He rearranged the whole song.not just the solo.c jones and Jackson left Eddie in the studio alone.eddie brought a six pack and rearranged all the guitar parts and laid down a killer solo for free.jaksons camp did not pay Eddie any money for a hit song on a hit album the sold 50 million copies.the music business is the most ruthless and grimmy business ever created .the one thing that binds all human beings and every culture known to man is very different behind the scenes.
You would totally understand if you grew up in the 70s and 80s like I did. I grew up with this s***.! I'm a musician playing this stuff.🎼🖖😁. Love to see you react to my childhood😁🙏🎶😎
You guys are so funny and I love you! I hope you both keep doing videos. It's nice that your wife (Dee) is on here because she has COMPLETELY grown on me. Hi Dee
This song was tailor made perfect for MTV: great band, great song and hot women. What more could a teenager in 1984 ask for? 🎸🥁🔥
Lol RIGHT!
I was 4, and I LOVED this video lol!
MTV was great back in the day
No question, the greatest rock band from that era, hands down.
The video was shot at John Marshall High School in Los Angeles, California. The school was shut down because of insufficient funds when they shot the clip, so Van Halen not only paid to rent the school for four days of filming, they also contributed money to the city to help get it reopened.
those kids in the classroom are Scary
I didn't know that the video was shot there. John Marshall is just around the corner from my house.
wow parts of Grease was shot there too
I never knew that, that's cool.
as a 13 year old when this came out, pretty much sums it up and this video was huge on MTV in 1984..there was no bigger band than VH at this time. So happy we can still be able to watch this video with a new audience with more appreciation and no one screaming to have it banned
Ditto everything you said! I was born in 1973 and have listened to Van Halen all my life! Cheers from northeast Ohio.
YEP! 100%
What's up man! Que Pasa!
I'm glad you brought your girl.
Glad you reacted to this! Get your girl on board.
What's up man! Que Pasa !
Love the smile!
Feel it!
Yes....this was what school was like in 1983-1984
There's a difference between reacting to a video versus the song.
Btw, middle school boys like looking at beautiful women. I know it's hard to believe. :-)
Ahh... the 80's. It was such a great time to be alive. There were soooooooo many good songs from ALL genre's of music The 70s too.....
Yes, the 1970s and 80s were a great time to be young.
They were at the top of their game. Amazing double bass shuffle courtesy Alex Van Halen and fantastic aggressive guitar swagger from you know who. Those were great times. Very inspiring!
The perfect combo of Rock and Burlesque
I never had teachers like that. I saw them live in 1982 Knoxville Tennessee what a show..
Greatest drum intro of the 80's.
You wouldn't think a band like this could manage those dance moves. Well, Dave, yes, but the rest of them? Great video.
What I love about this song is the fact that the kick ass drums are done by the brother of a GOAT guitarist & new listeners don’t even know that…..an awesome guitar solo is accompanied by an INCREDIBLE drum beat/rhythm by the GOAT guitarist….cool as shit

I was 15 when this came out and bought the LP. Back when MTV played music. Lol
Definitely one of the best music videos to come out during the MTV era.
Yeah, Eddie’s brother is incredible on the drums. That opening with the percussion
is iconic. Any true rocker would recognize it immediately.
Kudos for the perfect casting for Lil Eddie, Lil Dave, Lil Alex, Lil Michael, and Waldo!
Lil Eddie even got to keep that guitar he was holding. How cool is that? 🎸
@@0okamino I didn't know that! Very cool!! Something to treasure.
Oh Chod... as a drummer, I just know you're going to dig this. Amazing intro by Alex.
Wife got her teaching degree in 96... dedicated this to her lol! Our songs in HS were I'll Wait (this album) and Thank You by Zeppelin.
Back then everyone wasn't upset about everything.
Facts. Can you imagine trying to make this video now?
The outrage.

Ha! My mom was a bit upset when she'd find me watching this video on MTV at age 10! 😃

As a 17 year old when this came out 80s ruled! The kids were mini VH crew that was them as kids LOL!!!!
Your opposing reactions when the teacher came out for the first time was classic. 😁
Like the old saying goes, "If I teacher that looked like that while i was in school, I'd still be in school." :)
Marshall High School in Los Feliz was pumpin in 84.
Alex borrowed the double kick vibe from Billy Cobham Quadrant 4. Master classic
Nobody had a better time making their videos than Van Halen.
Love the smile on your face, I had the same smile watching! Oh, that is a top fuel sound the drums make, not motorcycle.
You being a drummer you must love Alex Van Halen's drum play on this song...
glad you got the music video, not just the song!
The video is just their way of having fun with the song I remember when this song came out I went to class singing this song and my teachers used to look at me like I was crazy and it was so funny
Thanks again for your attention to detail. God bless the family, stay cool 😎 🙏 ♥ 👌.
You are terrific on those drums playing with the smooth jazz track love it
EVH and David Gilmour. My absolute favorite guitarists.

They recorded Eddie's Ferrari and dubbed it into the drum intro.
@@jwil4905 I though they put Eddie's Ferrari in "Panama".
@@johndarcangelo6893 No, it (the sound of his car's exhaust) was actually in the drum intro to HFT.
Merci d’avoir écouté Van Halen. J’ai rien compris à ce que vous avez dit mais j’espère que vous avez aimé.
Like I said in my Led Zep post "Alex"was the second reason I played "Ludwig" drums.
That kid in the black shirt and jeans at 6:59 leaving class could have been my twin- same age, same hair, and same attitude as I was hopping into my brother’s Camaro to go cruise the movies 😊

My English teacher in high school! 1974.
Hey guys…it was the 80’s!! It was a great ride while it lasted!
Rock Video Making 101 right here
Some of the band's friends from highschool and club days said the song was based on a real teacher from junior or high school .
This original 4 rockers were the best van Halen as far as I'm concerned pre Sammy
Wilbur had this big grin on his face from the moment this reaction started. Such unbridled joy
I saw Van Halen open for the Doobie Brothers back in the day. I had heard of them but didn't know anything about them. They totally blew me away!
Just before my freshman year in High School, I went to Vacation Bible school the summer for something to do. There was this kind of short pretty girl there that nobody could figure out. If you watch the movie "Better Off Dead" you can see Eddy VanHamburger playing the guitar to "Everybody Wants Some".
Classic. Very underrated
This song is so fun! ✌❤ Check out their song Ice Cream Man or Everybody Wants Some!! 🔥🔥
Oh, DLR's voice at the end of Ice Cream Man!!
David Lee Roth's cover of Just a Gigolo is great, and IMO, has an even more entertaining music video.
LOL. Never had a teacher that hot! Love the song and video. It's totally silly fun.
Yea. Gotta remember this was 1984. A LOT of stuff was let go back in those days. Today? It would get banned. I miss the 1980s

High marks for all four members in this song BUT Alex is the star to me in this jam.
lol, except his dancing.

Did you see the toadie bully from the Christmas Story? I love the way you started this reaction video with the warning "hang on".
You have no choice but to smile from watching this video❤😂
This video was very important to us teenage boys back then....
Lol, all fun with van halen, the largest expense for their video productions was the cost of BEER lol
Video to Jump was done in EVH's garage!
The teacher is played by Lillian Muller the !976 Playmate of the Year.
Dated David Spade for a while, too...oddly.
You guys made me laugh so hard. Your facial reactions are perfect.
David Lee Roth fully embraced all chicks in the 1980's and that he probably had a little bit of an Odepus Complex.
Just a little. Hahaha
If you want to be blown away, check El Estepario Siberiano's drum cover of this song, and then all other of his covers, you're not going to regret it.
Oh yeah 👍❤️👍👍👍 back when boys were boys and girls were girls ❤️❤️❤️. ❤️🌎✌️
They have some of the best intros ever
It isn't a motorcycle sound, it was Eddie's Lamborghini that they recorded. 😄
She’s so soft for this ROCK, man!
This is a hilarious video. What the hell was the director thinking when he put them in a dance line?!? 😂😅🤣
That was Dave's idea
I suggest “I CANT WAIT TO FEEL YOUR LOVE TONIGHT” by Van Halen. It’s the best happy hard driving party song ever🎉
Now you have to show her EVERYBODY WANTS SOME! by Van Halen.
🔥🔥TEACHER🔥🔥
Had the vinyl as a kid. Love it
Best video from the 80s!
Time for your wife to choose a song she likes. 😃
Fun video! Great performance 🎭 👍

I have always thought the opening drums sounded like you were going at high speed down the road, and you got a flat tire.

I have a lot respect for Wolfgang doing his own thing. Of course, he’ll always have his father’s legacy, but he can also be his own person.
