"Is this a joke? If it's a joke, its both funny and well executed, but I think you and I both know it's not". Hilarious.
Psychics at Cal Tech… it just never gets old! 🤣🤣
7:31
"Finally succumbed to pneumonia last night." Such an underrated line. A beautifully setup joke and underplayed delivery.
Yeah, that 'finally' gets me every time! 🤣
"Psychic at Cal Tech" ! I'd love to have that on a tee shirt
I think I'm going to make one and see how many comments I get!
Why was Josh so adament about CJ leading with that story?
I'm sure there's hundreds of websites you can get a shirt with that on it...
You referred to me and to the office with respect. You're a class act.
Thank you Mr. President.
Wack job.
This series has some of the best twist in humour and back handed comments.
"If the president's wearing a hat, or that thing's wearing Bartlett button, I'm hiding snakes in your car."
"Come on, don't say that, not even to joke"
"You're never gonna know where they are-"
"LEO!!!"
"...or if you got em all out! Excuse me. Gonna lay their eggs right in the glove compartment."
The snakes in the car bit is one of my favorites
Since Toby put a visitor pass on Ron the Goat, Leo has to put snakes in CJ's car..
I miss the writing on this show so much. Shows with this caliber of wordsmithy come along so infrequently. Even Sorkin doesn't bat this high all the time. When you can't tell if CJ is misspeaking or just tweaking Josh's nose is priceless.
My stomach hurts from the depth of my laughter!
I think Newsroom came close, and you could see the development of the walk and talk in SportsNight... 3 of my top 5 shows are Sorkin shows, with Joss Whedon's Firefly, with Carlton Cuse's Nash Bridges rounding it out...
She was definitely tweaking him. The point of showing the walk to the press room was to let you know she doesn't forget things, like the names of the Congressman's wife and children. So she didn't forget that it was supposed to be 'physicists', she just decided to have a little fun with it.
"You’re never gonna know where they are or if you got’em all out." XD
'They'll lay eggs in your glove box!' Gotta love the dialogue and precise delivery
“I guess I got pretty well doinked.” 💀🤣 Lily Tomlin is a National Treasure.
I can honestly say I don't think there will be another show that has the best written and the greatest actors to bring it to life.
agree
The West Wing was Sorkin's magnum opus. I hope its influence on other shows will birth something greater. I'm optimistic that a show similar to this one will eventually emerge.
If I may...2 years later, Stargate SG-1 is just as good in my opinion. They are both very smart and work at the same level in their respective genres. SG1 obviously is more fun instead of dramatic, but I stand by the FACT that SG1 is one of the best shows ever produced and deserves to stand side by side with giants like west wing.
I would say that Battlestar Galactica (the 2004 version) was as week written and with wonderful actors !
But the two shows are my preferred so 😅
I think Lilly Tomlin was the perfect choice to take over for Mrs. Landingham’s character.
2:50
"Ron doesn't do that well in the cold"
"Are you Ron?"
"I'm Mike"
Hilarious!
I love when CJ says psychics instead of physicists to upset Josh.
I always saw that as friendly payback for when Josh took over during the root canal episode.
The way Josh just starts thumping his head on the headboard, one of my favorite scenes! 🤣🤣
"Is it comprehensive?" is my single favourite joke in the entire West Wing.
-"Bill Haley"
-"Will Bailey"
-"okay"
The psychic line is great but referring to Leo as Leopold in @6:33 had me giggling.
Greatest show ever... walking and talking.
Holy interuptus Batman...lol
I love how (not in this clip) Charlie defends Debbie Fiderer to a fault but still puts her in her place when she makes a crack about Rosalyn.
THE best written/acted show ever!
I swear the best show tv ever produced!!!
"Do male goats give milk?" LOL the visuals!!
Still love this show...best TV ever!
"I'm pretty sure that was supposed to be physicists" as Josh bounces his head off his bed. Sheldon Cooper probably did an eyeroll.
Love that scene EVERY time I see it. :-DD
“The theory of everything? Is it comprehensive?” LOL
Every time every time I shouldn’t drink coffee when I watch this because it makes me spit from laughter.
I forgot the two of them worked together in this show. Must have been fun reuniting for grace and Frankie years later.
Best show ever!
Was that one take? Did that all happen in one go? Talent!
oh how I enjoyed this show.
Same here.
That heifer was The Goat.
They just don’t make like this anymore! What a great great show the west wing is! You so so wanted to go and work for bartlet after watching season 1! Atleast that’s what i felt! And that feeling didn’t end till season 8 when i so so wanted to go and work for arnold vinnick! I do wish they stuck to the original script of making him the president but with spencer’s death, the lines between the show and reality blurred ! What an ending!
I wonder how many of the cast have that picture of them with goat they have hanging on a wall somewhere?
It’s not a goat CJ it’s the goat
Where is cheese day?
Where is:
Josh: "Wow. That was fast."
Toby: "Did ya like that?"
These are getting painful to watch, the disparity of where we are and where they are is so great as to make this fictional white house unrecognizable and lost in the quaintness of time. Seriously, this seems like such a long time ago they may as well be wearing cravats and waistcoats.
Question for other west wing nerds, did anybody else notice the random placement of the human silhouette target throughout the series? It shows up in Josh’s office mostly but also twice in the copier room across from josh’s office. It never has any holes in it
It kinda rings a bell but I'll have to look for it next time I go through series. Reminds me of the Tombstone poster in Justified.
Kevin H. It shows up during and after “In The Shadow of Two Gunmen” and in episodes there after, randomly. Josh’s office right hand wall as you walk into his office.
@@charleshetrick3152 ok, I'll check it out for sure. I watch those two episodes often lol.
Kevin H. At first I thought it was supposed to be a subtle ark to Josh’s otherwise anti gun nature; that after being shot he realized “those who do not wield swords can still die upon them.” But then it shows up in the copier room which means it is maybe a subtle anti gun message, though the show was never shy about that. It drives me nuts honestly, if I could ever sit Sorkin down and talk to him that’s all I’d wanna talk about.
@@charleshetrick3152 lol me too. He would get annoyed with me in two mins lol.
You left out “How long so you usually make people your bitch”. From this series, that’s one of the funniest moments of the show.
Lily's the best!!!
I know this montage was posted eons ago, but I just ran across it. With *ALL* due respect to *LITERALLY EVERYBODY ELSE* , Lily Tomlin's "introduction" to the fans in that clip is probably one of *THE* best character intros, *EVER* . You came away from that thinking, "Holy crap, this lady's a nutjob! This will DEFINITELY be an interesting character to watch!"
The theory of everything?
Yes.
is it comprehensive?
Oh, C.J. I long for you.
Awww. Cut up the lily tomlin interview
I thought it was very strange how CJ (Allison) pronounced "Fermi" with three syllables each time she said it ("fair-uh-mee"). This seems like a production slip-up to me. On a cast and crew full of bright people, did no one notice this?
Shamefully, do we really have the government we deserve?
when your the first view, comment, like
*you're
this show makes the present administration look like fools.
That was the past administration
The Woke.
It’s occurred to me that Sorkin is a snobbish elitist. He portrays ordinary working folk as ignorant buffoons.
He's a wealthy Democrat with weapons-grade Trump Derangement Syndrome; regarding those who work for a living as lower forms of life comes with the territory.
What a load of crap. Whenever the staff goes into the 'hinterlands', they generally are hoisted on a pike. The locals, both for and against them, seem to find their hoity toity attitudes as both baffling and surprising! Obviously your snobbery and lack of ability to laugh at yourself in your arrogance is what is most telling about you. I am not a liberal, I am a conservative. But at least I'm not a new age snowflake!
I do love this show, but yes the average American is shown as an idiot. I love the show but the actors are even more liberal than their characters! And that's saying something!
@@davidc8077
1) You’ve obviously never watched it or if you did you failed to understand it.
2) Accusing me of snobbery and arrogance is your projection, there’s nothing in what I said that is remotely either... ...but there’s plenty in yours.
@@fredbloggs5902 Really, you called him a snobbish elitist and that he portrays ordinary working folk as ignorant buffoons! I stated that when any of Batletts people travel into the 'hinterlands' they presume 'ordinary working folk' are clueless, only to be schooled in the intelligence of the common man. You probably were projecting your own values when you claimed I 'obviously' never watched.
You have obviously only watched what you wanted and remembered even less.
The glamorous body spectacularly explain because cow initially squeal across a crabby silver. snotty, impossible order
... what?
@@xeltanni8999 It was a drug induced A.I. comment, don't try to understand it.
