- So this weeks upload instead is another diorama build that was originally uploaded in several parts a few years ago and one that very few people have viewed since it was first uploaded. It also happens to be one of my favourite dioramas that I've built so far and is my only seascape to date.
The diorama was made before I started filming my builds so I'm afraid its just a slide show and If you have seen it before then hopefully you'll enjoy watching it again.
Italeri - 1/35 DUKW Amphibious Truck - Kit No. 6392

Another astounding offering from your Hobby Bench. The 'Tarps' in themselves are brilliant, an area I am still working on. As for the poor guy sharing his breakfast with the fish, adds to the whole feel of the diorama.
The puking guy was a nice touch...sweet
From memory it’s more of a savoury taste…
Excellent work,a superb diorama. I especially like the juxtaposition of the two soldiers, one nonchalant, the other being seasick. 😂
A stunning piece of work. I've read and seen so many interviews over the years that mention the fact that many of these chaps were so ill they couldn't wait to land on the beaches, so that was a nice touch!
Most impressive water effect, inspired and wonderful work!
Cheers👍
Your work just gets better and better thanks for the builds.

Love this one Ian! It is skilfully put together, and tells a wonderful story. The guy throwing up is a nice touch, and brought a chuckle as well as some sympathy.
Keep them coming sir!

Well, this looks as good as what one could want!
At 3:45, the figure of the driver of mixed parts seems to be missing one. My Mother always had cautioned me not to lose my head!
Already, in this build are you well ahead of me in whatever I could manage. I wish that you master modellers in teaching would provide specifics; what exactly are the dimensions of all those scratch-built parts, please?
Like I noted earlier, your work in all the elements of your diorama is top-notch! All I want to do is stare in awe! That and hope you have dozens more! Had you perchance acquired Italeri’s series of Amphibious Vehicles, Tracked (LVT)? They together would make a truly remarkable beachhead diorama; they had become combat operational for the Guadalcanal campaign (c. August 1942?) in the Pacific Theatre of Operation (PTO). Maybe also for the Allies’ invasion of Southern Europe in the Mediterranean Theatre of Operation (MTO)?
I some years past had built and detailed a kit of the DUKW, incorporating into it the three Verlinden sets: GMC CCKW-353 Truck cargo, CCKW-353 Truck Engine, and DUKW crew figures. I also had Italeri’s LVT kits, and a Ford GPA ¼-ton, 4 × 4 amphibious light utility truck. I had planned to create beachhead dioramas, one in the South Pacific, upon a rugged atoll that long past had leapt from the depths, another as part of “Operation: Overlord” . . . .
I had found another tracked amphibious assault vehicle-a bigger, later cargo variant, as I recall-from another kit maker, though it was rather crude in comparison to the Italeri kits; I planned to use another of a suitable Italeri kit to serve as a basis, using the parts of the former vehicle that differed-much of the upper surface-retaining the tracks, the lower hull, and all the two had in common. I also had been accumulating as many Army and Marine figurines as I could find to avoid redundancy (this was before 3D printing).
I unfortunately had been unable to complete assembly of any of the LVT models, however (that is a long story! :( SMH)
Great project Ian, the water effects are terrific....really nice👏😯 Good subject too, the DUKW & figures are great, nice little scene!
Gutted for you about your current project...must’ve been horrendous 🤬🤬 Mine fell over too last week..., but can easily put it down to extra battle damage 🥵
Hopefully you can still salvage yours, fingers crossed🤞
Cheers Simon......the Stalker dio is toast I'm afraid but I've come up with an idea for a small vignette with the figure so all is not lost 👍
Ace mate 😁👌
Thanks👍
Also I use drier sheets for tarpaulins and the are easy to paint.
Literally A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!!!! I'm building the same model. Can you tell me the measures of the styrene structure for the coverage and the thickness of the styrene? Thanks
50cm x 22cm x 5cm👍
Wish I could build water like that. My scenes are all "traveling" roadways or typical static demolished buildings.
I need to see a collaboration with CW modelling, Laser Creation-World, PLASMO - plastic models, and Night Shift.
Sounds like an argument to me, lol
@@CWModelling yes however... it would be really nice to see a diorama done by some of the best scale modellers.
In that case I'll have to sit that one out😔
@@CWModelling Nah.
THANKS FOR THIS MODEL. IT TEACH ME HOW TO MAKE WATER OF DIORAMA. I WOULD PUT A PLA MISSILE BOAT ON THE WATER
Great job it. I have never seen aluminum foil used as a base for water. Did you ball it up and then smooth it out or use it as it came off the roll? LOTS of details there.
Thanks.......yup, I crumpled it a bit then flattened it out👍
WELL THATS VERY GOOD SO FAR BUTT DID YOU NEED THE PUKE FINE TOUCH BRILLIANT .
Maravilhoso!!!!
Many thanks👍
Wahou!! Fantastic job! Can you tell me how do you realise the foam in front of the vehicule? Thank you very much!🇬🇧🍻🇲🇫
Thanks.......the 'foam' is cotton wool and clear silicone bathroom sealant 👍
Yup Shit On a Shingle for breakfast..btw i hava sub and battleship just finished and looking for a home, great tips Thank You !
This is great, but I thought there was also a build video?
The description below the video reveals all......
👍👍👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️✌️
"Tommy don't Surf" - love it! 😁 Turned out great, really like the water effects (not many details, did you do a tutorial on this?). The Tommy puking is a brilliant touch, lol! 👍
Thanks Jerry......this was made a while ago so, sorry, no tutorial 😔
Lovely build, but would British troops use an American landing craft with US markings on it ?
Thanks.....DUKW's were used in British service as part of the Lend Lease scheme and the star isn't a US marking per se but was used by all Allied forces during and after D-Day as a recognition symbol 👍
