    1:13 I think that's a typo - it should probably say "there" instead of here. It would make more sense with the overall message of the sentence itself and the ones before and after it, as follows: "Hmm... Aeris didn't need to come here. She was able to find out all the information THERE. What Aeris needed was that altar... and only that."
    Fun fact: that's approximately 15 minutes of gameplay crammed into 15 seconds during that fast-forwarded bit (it sounds even more chaotic than it looks 😂)... I had to double the speed and save the modified clip several times to achieve this using iMovie, it was tedious to edit with a migraine but I wanted to keep the gameplay footage in the video to preemptively prove to any sceptics that this scene is in fact real despite its obscurity 💚

    He thinks of Aerith very often even after her death, in a short time she has marked his life and she is one of his main reasons to fight, when he's in doubt he asks Aerith for answers, he always cares about her and trusts her.

    • @Kabbaway
      @Kabbaway  2 года назад +32

      I couldn't agree more, of course Cloud has other reasons to fight but the narrative frames Aerith as arguably being his most intimate one... the grief he feels for Aerith hits at the very core of his being, impacting him significantly for years to come... it's so bittersweet, I hope Remake offers a happier ending for Clerith 💚

    • @Kabbaway
      @Kabbaway  2 года назад +13

      As heart-wrenching as that would be, I doubt SE will go down that road again - Aerith's death was groundbreaking in 1997 because main characters in video games were rarely killed off (let alone that early in the story and in cold blood), whereas now such deaths are almost expected of any decent fantasy/action story so the shock factor isn't so strong anymore... not to mention her death is arguably one of the most well-known aspects of the game which Remake even heavily foreshadowed several times... the whole point of Remake is to defy and rewrite fate and the OG timeline is suggested to have been a "bad ending" of sorts, so setting up a scenario that's shaping up to lead to a happier ending to close off FFVII's story only to repeat the same tragic beats as before would be such a waste of a years-long project... I think they'll definitely show us a vision of it for homage and plot sake but the story will ultimately either reverse her fate or avert it entirely, I guess time will tell! 😄

    • @Kabbaway

      I have a feeling Aerith's death will either be reversed or completely averted this time, with Remake's theme of defeating/rewriting fate... but I agree that the devs will certainly keep making Cloud's feelings more explicit and the Clerith implications will only become more and more undeniable from here on out 😄

      Their claims are ridiculous! Like Kabbaway says, he says he can meet her in the promised land in the ending, the key scene in the forgotten city, "Aerith- I'll do everything else", right before the final battle "she was smiling to the end, we need to something or else that smile will just get stuck" something like that, he mentions he wanted to take Aerith on a ride on the highwind. Haters also deny Aerith's role in saving Cloud from the lifestream "A guardian angel must have been watching over him" before we arrived. Do they just ignore this stuff?

    • @Kabbaway
      @Kabbaway  2 года назад +27

      You're both absolutely right - I think they feel that Cloud reminiscing over Aerith after her death isn't conducive to their narrative that he moved on with Tifa, which is constructed on heavily romanticised half-truths - sure he did move in with her, but they were also living with Barret and Marlene until the former took up temporary work elsewhere and Cloud took on Denzel regardless of Tifa because he viewed the boy as a sort of gift from Aerith to facilitate his redemption... not to mention he later moved out and the little post-AC(C) information we get indicates that Cloud and Tifa are not only still friends but that they merely keep in contact, implying that Cloud still isn't living at Seventh Heaven 2.0... even if he was, Barret is back (still very much Marlene's sole dad) and Shelke ends up living there too as an independent adult... Tifa said it herself in CoT that they're a family of friends who are joined together by mutual trauma, even though she later implies that she doesn't even view them as a "real family" which really speaks of her dissatisfaction with her relationship with Cloud... anywho, bit of a tangent but what all the Aerith grief denial comes back to is antis pushing a narrative which the narrative itself doesn't support 😕

    Aerith didnt say anything because she might notice Cloud was a puppet of Jenova at that time.
    So she worried about his mentalbreakdown, and went alone.

I agree, I’ve seen a lot of people theorise that Zack’s in a parallel reality from Remake Cloud and party (if he was in their reality, it would’ve had a tremendous butterfly effect or even paradox, especially with there being two Clouds in Midgar). @kanzakichikage586 that’s what I think too - if they do go through with killing her, it won’t be permanent - they devs literally broke the laws of the story universe to make this story happen, and it’d be a waste not to go through with the premise they’ve been teasing for years now. Not even from a shipping standpoint, but from a storytelling point - if they do all this set up without a decent payoff, it will leave people feeling dissatisfied and sort of clickbaited, regardless of whatever side of the shipping fence they happen to be on. It wouldn’t be good for them, especially since we all know FFVII is their golden child since they sold most of their original IPS to fund their live service and NFT and now AI grifts. I doubt they’d recover from the backlash

I'll be sure to let you know if I find anything different! 😁

    • @Kabbaway
      @Kabbaway  Год назад +5

      Just found that someone else has found this scene - it seems like regardless of who else is in your party, Tifa will always say the same generic lines as everyone else (near the bottom of this page ~ www.yinza.com/Fandom/Script/39.html)... if I were to guess, perhaps she wasn't in the Lifestream long enough to really get in tune with it (the novel Maiden Who Travels The Planet also shows that Aerith used magic to protect Tifa from getting mako poisoning which could also be a factor). Cloud, on the other hand, was adrift in the Lifestream for an extended period of time and was severely debilitated by it; while in his catatonic state, he talks about the voices and sounds he hears which are implied to be from the Lifestream. That might explain why he comments about the sensations being familiar while Tifa doesn't 🙂

      Of all the people in the FFVII community I've spoken with, only you and one other person have seen this before (plus the one who compiled this script, near the bottom ~ www.yinza.com/Fandom/Script/39.html )... I guess because people normally go to the underwater lab in Junon right after the Mideel/Lifestream sequence, they don't think to go to this specific area within an area on the other side of the world 😅 there's a lot of obscure dialogue which can be triggered by going to various locations at different times, in fact even Cloud's flashback of Zack and his death was once considered "secret" since most people never had a reason to revisit Nibelheim at that point in the story. @@Kabbaway For the end, I read that It was possibly showing the timeline in which he successfully blocked sephiroth and she survived. She’s alive in another timeline that cloud created when he stopped sephiroth. Our world is the OG where she died but it seems like cloud is the only one who can see and communicate with Aerith from the timeline where she’s alive. IF sephiroth wants to merge all timelines together it means we’ll see Aerith and even zack with the whole gang again in part 3 and we’ll be able to keep Aerith from dying…WITH Zack. Hopefully this theory is true!

    • @Kabbaway
      @Kabbaway  3 дня назад +2

      I’m thinking along those lines too. I think all the different realities are overlapping - they’re all happening in the exact same points in space but very few can actually perceive more than their own layer of reality. We can even see in Remake’s ending with Cloud and Aerith walking past Zack and other Cloud - they don’t notice each other, though Aerith does pause before mentioning how she misses Midgar’s plate (because the sky “takes away the people she loves”) so at the very least she does seem to have sensed them in that moment. I think a lot of people forget about that shot, or more specifically the implications of that shot and how it relates to what is happening in Rebirth.
      In Rebirth’s ending Nanaki also senses Aerith, calling out her name when she pats him. This makes sense given his knowledge from Bugenhagen, close friendship with Aerith and the fact that they’re almost spiritually connected from her giving him visions back in Remake. I’ve seen some people dismiss this as Nanaki just sensing her spirit in the Lifestream, but a side quest where we find out that Wedge did in fact fall to his death shows what that would look like - a string of Lifestream and Wedge’s voice speaking to Barret (though Nanaki denies what happened).

      @@KabbawayHere’s something I’ve thought about that further disproves Cloti. Maybe you’ll agree, or not. The Ultimania states that cloud is mentally 16 years old. Cloud and Tifa were never like “high school sweethearts” it was more of a crush from Clouds side. So, cloud having a thing for Tifa is just his mentally 16 year old self talking, NOT his adult self.
      We all know that people get over their childhood crushes when they get older.
      Which means When cloud’s mental state ages up he’ll likely get over Tifa. They weren’t ever dating anyway, just a mere childhood crush. What do you think of that thought?

    • @Kabbaway
      @Kabbaway  День назад

      I think that’s more so informed by Tifa’s romanticised memories/fantasies of Cloud which his Jenova cells replicated to consolidate his persona (ie that they were close childhood friends). Zack’s chivalrous behaviour may have influenced his persona too. Personally, I think his dim crush on Tifa (as described in CC Ultimania) probably faded over the two years he was an infantry man - he was a teenager in the military, travelling the world and getting exposed to countless settings, people and situations he otherwise wouldn’t have experienced back in Nibelheim. Obviously the concept of child soldiers is TERRIBLE and should never happen, but for better or worse this time and distance away from home would’ve had a profound impact on him. Of course he still carried the shame of not fulfilling his dream or his promise to Tifa, but his experiences would’ve inevitably changed him in some way, broadening his perspective beyond the small town politics which condemned him and his mum to always be outcasts; life means more than that now Nibelheim isn’t his whole world. Between this growth and experiencing his first REAL friendship through Zack, it’d be understandable if Cloud’s feelings for Tifa (romantic and/or platonic) waned as a result; he’s had exposure to so, so many more options beyond the one female peer he had growing up, who he barely ever interacted with and is a significant subject of his ostracism and resulting trauma. He shouldn’t have to settle for that sort of strained dynamic just because they technically knew each other as kids.
      I don’t think his paused mental development has that much to do with disproving Cloti specifically, it’s more to emphasise the broader consequences of being in and out of a coma for the last 5 years of his life. If anything, it’s often used as an argument against ANY type of shipping for him. He’s lost that time, the critical transition from teenager to adult, time when most people consolidate their identity and life skills. He’s also deeply traumatised and has always struggled with socialisation. Realistically speaking, Cloud probably doesn’t have the capacity (mentally or emotionally speaking) to sustain an intimate relationship with ANYBODY at this point in the story, not even Aerith. That’s not to say that he can’t experience romantic feelings or that he can never pursue them in the future, but it is worth acknowledging that ideally Cloud should figure out who he is as an individual and begin healing from the worst of his trauma first, so that all his relationships (romantic, platonic and otherwise) can be healthy and sustainable 💚
