Saw them last week here in Ontario. One of the best live bands I've ever seen. And I've seen Soundgarden, STP, I Mother Earth, OLP, Rush etc...great showman.
Great to see them rawking out live again! Still dreaming of a tour in the States soon! I've got to go put ice on my butt because it just got kicked by Ian's guitar work. Amazing stuff!
3:10 mid solo quick guitar tuning XD awesome!!! Lovin' the sound mix on these videos.. Have to agree with the comment on the audience, don't think I've ever seen a Thornley show that calm..
One of my highest rated videos is a cover of this song! Check it out. Big Wreck is the shit! USA needs to open their ears to this great underrated music!
i wish they would come to the states (like Florida)! And bring Blinker The Star and/or Sheloom with them for good measure. I've been crossing my fingers since '97 that i'd get to see BW live (and Blinker since '99!).
Ian should go back to his Berkeley roots and convince dave dicenso to join up. fantastic drummer who is now a prof at berk and would absolutely nail this stuff.
The volume was so low you could hear his strumming on his solo...I bet they were forced to play this gig. I saw them recently in Victoria at a club, and no-one rocked out. I saw the disgust in the band's face while they played. I felt so bad for them, and even worse for the crowd for not being able to appreciate a truly amazing band.
@@MontyCantsin5 some people make things look easy. he does not. he's whatever the opposite of "economy of motion" is. sekou and chuck are much better players
Good band. I use to follow them around in the late 90's and watch them play live everywhere. I must say, I miss their old drummer Forrest Williams. He was a groove-master. You can really hear the difference in the grooves between their old drummer and this guy playing here. No offense to Dave McMillan, but not everyone gets to go to the Berklee College of Music to study their instrument thoroughly.
Yeah. I never heard a proper explanation as to why Forrest didn't come back. Did they not even try calling him? Was he genuinely not interested? Ian and Forrest together was no less than full Led'ed magic. Now it's become a litany of near Spinal Tapish drummer changes. There's so few truly great rock drummers left and I can't see the point in one of the best staying home with nary a peep for decades. I wonder if Ian truly realizes how invaluable Forrest was. Or Forrest for that matter...
Boy. It's funny when you have even the vaguest connection to the people in the performance all the super critical comments here which normally wouldn't register with me seem so darn close to the bone. I can't help thinking how shitty it would feel to be this drummer and read these comments. In any case I'm pretty sure Ian can figure out what drummer he wants for himself. I wouldn't say this was their best rendition of this song over all anyway. Even Ian is stretching the vocals a tad. Who knows what the circumstances were. The whole thing seems a little tense and awkward. Great band, seriously under recognized and a great song. Can never figure out why a Nickelback becomes so huge and these guys don't.
Nickelback became huge because they wrote massive hit songs right off the bat and their label capitalized on it. I don't think Big Wreck got the same support despite having some early success. For what it's worth, Chad Kroeger is actually a pretty solid guitar player in his own right. I'm just not a fan of his vocals. Had it been him playing lead guitar while someone with vocals like Ian's did the singing, I'd probably like them more.
I honestly think its the bald guitar player throwing off their vibe. Watch the video of "Glass House" he spends the end soloing while Ian sings I was like STOP THAT. In this video though, he's just too present when he comes in and sticks out like a bit of a sore thumb. Drummer's just workin with what he's being given.
The recording isn't bad, but the monitor mix is clearly terrible. They can't hear themselves in their monitors, so it's impossible to sing on pitch. They're doing pretty well in spite of it. Watch other live performances, it's not like these guys can't sing.
new albums is great and yes I wish they would come to the states!! I've pretty much given up on it though. Most Americans just likes shit music so good bands wont come here.
a 15 yr old song? there are so many better bands that deserve this kind of attention. their new album is blatantly mediocre, uncreative and formula. on top of all that, these old men playing their only hit in 15 years is brought to you by subway.BOOOO!
Go away. This is the best band on the planet. Ian Thornley is the best guitarist and vocalist on the planet. I would have killed to be in that audience in such an intimate venue. This band has been dominating for 25 years and still on top. Nothing but extreme love and devotion. ❤️

Excellent band and some really amazing songwriting on Albatross. I hope they stick together this time.
So hooked on this band - mesmerizing guitar work and vocals! Coming to Calgary soon.
Totally amazing Canadian band,
WOW! This band simply and especially Mr. Ian Thornley amazes me!!!
Seen them in Moncton with Theory of a Deadman, their performances were both insanely good. I've been a big fan since.
Great to see them rawking out live again! Still dreaming of a tour in the States soon! I've got to go put ice on my butt because it just got kicked by Ian's guitar work. Amazing stuff!
New favorite song and a wonderful performance to watch and hear!

Totally awesome, mind blowing musicianship !

Awesome! These guys are amazing
Ya their back together man, they even have a new album entitled "Albatross".
dude knows zip -- the new album slays so much.

This crowd really looks special.....like....special olympics special. Don't know a good thing when they hear it.
Rest In Peace Brian you will be forever missed 💔😭
How many limbs would I sever to be one of those audience members? GAHHHHHH
Come on people! It's fecking BIG WRECK! OMG.........stand up, blink......something!
COME TO THE STATES!
Dudes got some pipes.
A true singer.
damn good show.
More????
Ian should go back to his Berkeley roots and convince dave dicenso to join up. fantastic drummer who is now a prof at berk and would absolutely nail this stuff.
Meh, nah. Their latest guy (don't know his name, but look up the Suhr/2015 performances) is killing it fine. Also, it's Berklee.
Did these guys reform or are they still broke up? ? Man I hope so. Then I hope they tour the states,
I didn't know Matt Damon could play bass?...good will thumping!!!
hey embassy I like your type o icon ;-) Peter Steele RIP

Jesse Pinkman on drums!
...I absolutely love this performance.
Yeah, he goes through them more than Spinal Tap. I miss Forrest...
Who's the drummer?
Monty Cantsin Animal. He used to be in the muppets
He's better than I remember!
@@MontyCantsin5 some people make things look easy. he does not. he's whatever the opposite of "economy of motion" is. sekou and chuck are much better players
what a well behaved crowd

Dat tunin' at 3:08
This is great> Ian thornley is a genius
Kinda sounds like Aerosmith, Its Awesome!

its not... listen, he forgets to hit his OD/distortion and turns it on late
I should clarify...my own limbs, not someone else's.
Like performing to a small town PTA meeting. Sad how lame the audience was.

4 people were trying to like this video by using their foot with the mouse. unfortunately... they hit the dislike button. "A" For effort though
they need to stand up and rock out crowd is lame! respect thornley!

I noticed when they all come in at 0:40, Paulo's guitar isn't part of the mix until 0:43. You can hear the change when the camera is on him.
new albums is great and yes I wish they would come to the states!! I've pretty much given up on it though. Most Americans just likes shit music so good bands wont come here.
Zip it Zippy! Attention for BW is LOOOONG overdue! Albatross is a breath of fresh air. Sorry you don't dig.
they create their own attention. is a classic band not allowed to play a classic song? wow, you're so wrong on every level.
he needs to get himself a good drummer
He did.
Gotta ditch that drummer...
Ryan McCrossan they did. Thank goodness
I thought the exact same thing he was all over the place.
Drummer does not play according to the vibe of the song. Painfully crash cymbal heavy.
This drummer was not it lol
