Ukraine stepping up to alleviate energy crises in Moldova speaks volumes to Ukraine's integrity, and their understanding of the need to avoid giving Russia additional turmoil to use to escalate violence. One of the most astute statements about Russia that I've heard from a colleague in Ukraine is: "Russia is a country with an unpredictable past." It is important to remember that Russia consistently changes their "history" as well as their present situation, to fit the propaganda needed at the moment.
stepped up by stealing Russian gas? What a heroes, lmao. The volumes about Ukrainian integrity is that they kept transferring Russian gas to the Europe this whole damn time till this very December, duh.
@@EhEhEhEINSTEIN - I actually think it will be DeSantis who will succeed Trump. Ukraine will have long since been settled anyway. My guess is Russia keeps what they have of Donbas and gives up Crimea and Kherson. If Putin doesn't agree, He will also lose Donbas.
There is still no actual evidence for this. Look at the article they reference in the notes. This came from unnamed sources in the CIA leaks and from interrogations of detained Taliban militants by afgan NSA (Torture was common). Read the storys and check the notes, this was never substantiuated.
That bounty propaganda was debunked in 2020 *"The Department of Defense (DOD), in testimony in July 2020 to the House Armed Services Committee by General Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Defense Secretary Mark Esper, said that U.S. defense intelligence agencies had no information to corroborate reports of a Russian bounty program in Afghanistan and lacked evidence of "cause and effect linkages to a Russian bounty program causing U.S. Military casualties."*
Its interesting that NATO countries happily committed forces to Afghanistan a conflict of absolutely no strategic consequence but are full of hesitation over Ukraine a country of profound strategic consequence.
Personally, I agree with the guest that putting European NATO troops on the ground in Ukraine while Trump is in the White House is a non-starter. If Trump could be trusted to militarily back those troops if Putin started killing them, maybe. But is anyone confident he would? And if he didn't, wouldn't that be the end of NATO? And, to reassure Putin that Ukraine wouldn't join NATO as long as NATO troops could be based there to provide Ukraine security guarantees sounds a little bizarre. In my opinion, the only real solution is US security guarantees. Perhaps we could find a sustainable way for Trump to put his ego on the line (I was going to say his reputation, but that doesn't seems right for someone whose gone bankrupt multiple times). Unfortunately, Trump's past advisors warn us that he will say and believe something one day, then say and believe the exact opposite tomorrow. And that leaves NATO membership.
It was supposed to be yeah hahaha gawd I’m so frustrated being an American. Watching his fan base become imperialist and hearing ppl do pros and cons for the invasions of Canada and Greenland makes me wanna leave. I’m gonna re double my efforts in learning Hebrew and just leave.
@Captain_Grimes that went over your head. The point is there was never any hope to end the war in one day, so why promise it in your campaign? Trump is pathetic.
@ war is escalating each day and each day will be harder and harder to bring peace, so I wouldn’t think he could achieve it in 24 hours, I mean I bet he hopes to achieve it but I don’t blame him for not getting done in 24 hours
@ nooo nooo this was his campaign promise he would end the war in 24 hours. Don’t let him back slide from that. Don’t run cover for him for backsliding from that. He is a failure.
The only equitable thing after all the blood that has been spilled is that Ukraine gets every inch of its land back. No less. And reparations would not hurt. Meanwhile, Russian soldiers are offing themselves at a clip of 200 to 400 a day, The interest rate in Russia is above 21% and inflation as well over 20%. So really there's no advantage for Ukraine to negotiate when Russia is going to implode
Exactly. The bare minimum is a return to status quo ante bellum. Even just that plus solid security guarantees would be a massive compromise for Ukraine, but probably the minimum viable resolution.
Exactly if Trump does not betray NATO, the West, us. Trump wants money in his family pocket and ultra vanity moments in all aspects of life, but mainly media. Can Ukraine be better than Russia in all these simple things?
Problem is, it can last while imploding for some time. Any sane leader would try to stop it now, unfortunately, their leaders prefer the slow implosion while being safely tucked in beds in their 100-room "cottages".
It's insane how Russians will tolerate a situation where they are expected to go into battle in a car. This is clearly unsustainable so I guess it's just a matter of time until either the mothers or soldiers call it. Slava Ukraini.
I agree it is a 'post truth' age. Keep stressing the failure it would be for Ukraine not to win, and how a rare window is given for Trump to be hero, and this is true.
Nothing about any resolution should be seen as needing to be 'fair' to russia or putin. Outrageous. trump will attempt to deal with this as a business transaction. It is not.
Speculation about Trump will or won’t do simply feeds the algorithm. I thought it was 24 hours. No story there. He’s obvious about where his loyalty lies.
Great to hear focus on Moldova by Selensky, cannot lose hold of this gravity for corrections in this region. Wise to expect push back, but it will end given time.
I’m leaving Kharkiv having been there for a few days. I’m not one to hide my country-hood. No worry about russians. May go th Kramatorsk and people more fearful there when I visit it in July 4:19 of 2023, and 2024
Establishing a negotiating position is all that 24 hr statement was. It will take longer, but it will get done or Putin will lose what remains of his army and probably his life.
It would seem to me, as an armchair analyst, but someone who listens to your podcast every day, that glide bombs are the most destructive weapon used by the Russians. Why can’t the Ukrainians the Americans or anyone in NATO come up with a way to respond to these? Why can’t Ukraine use some of these of their own and give the Russians a taste of their own medicine?
"Equitable and Fair" does NOT mean giving Russia "something for its efforts." Rewarding Russia with anything at all would be inequitable and unfair. Zelenskyi calls for a "just" end of the war. How is that different from equitable and fair?
Fact 50 of 100: At no point in the history of NATO has ground troops had access to RU territory to map cruise missile paths to within a meter. Empirical mapping criteria are based on matching the CYGNSS-observed delay and Doppler values to values predicted using knowledge of local terrain topography. Bottom line: USA needs to know an exact surface survey with hidden calibration reflectance points planted on RU soil. Mission accomplished in 100 days!
My issue with the idea of an international occcupation is that I guarantee it will be just like the UN in Rwanda, US in Beirut, and so many others. The international force will have a cautious ROE that imply even self defense 'could start wwiii', be targeted by partisans or Russian agents,, avoid patrols, retreat to their barracks if not homeland, and then will be open season on Ukraine again.

My understanding of the Ukraine stopping the movement of Russian gas through Ukraine is the result of the bilateral contract had expired. What is really the truth?
Yes, they had a 5 years contract and for all I know, russia didn't offer much to keep it in place. Maybe Orban and Fico where pootins messengers on the matter.
