Using Frames on Scrap Cards

- Using Frames can really help to use up that last little bit of scrap paper in the pile. Here are some examples using commercial die cuts. You could just as easily make your own focal with stamps, or use stickers. The concept is the same.

We would like to thank John Deley and the 41 Players for the use of their music - "Dixie Outlandish (Sting)" - for our intro and outtake. Хобби
I love those browns and tans together in the first few cards.
Thank you!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Have been crafting forever, had to quit for awhile, so eager to get back to it now and just love these ideas ❤❤❤
Hi Vicky - I'm glad you are getting back into crafting. I think it fills a void in our spirit to create sweet things to send to others.
Beautiful cards. I have that Word Stamp Set too. Nice to see someone using it
I try to ink the oldie but goodie stamps, because a lot of folks have them in their stash and they get forgotten in the push for newer and better. Well, red rubber beats acrylic any day in my book. Although I do have my fair share of acrylic stamps too LOL!!!
I could watch you all day. From one scrap princess to another. Beautiful
Awww Ilene - Thank you!
Your scrap cards are always so pretty.
Thank you! It's amazing how a simple frame can make such an easy card format!
Oh, you haven't bored me at all! I'm so inspired by the cards you make using scraps. So much more interesting than the typical strips or squares cards. I can't wait to try out your ideas using scraps I've been stumped by. TFS!
Thanks for all the inspiration.
You're welcome Shelly! The frames make these cards quick and easy - just choose a focal and run with it!
I don't find your videos boring in the least little bit. I think everyone of your cards turned out fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
Awwwe... Thanks Roxanne!
I know this is going to sound stupid, but I have learned to use tweezers since watching you. I love using them. They make thing so easy to center objects.
It doesn't sound stupid at all!!! I am lost without mine. My fingers don't work well enough any more to make placement of small embellishments anything but frustration. Those sharp point tweezers came in a group from amazon years ago and it's a good thing I have more than one because my senior brain frequently can't find them!! LOL
Thank you! Love the cards!
Hi Marge! Those were fun to make and really easy too!!
Enjoyed your video. Thanks. I also like to use Books by Hand and Lineco book glue. When I notice a shine, I brush on a little powder to minimize the glossiness.
Thanks for sharing!! I appreciate the tip.
Pretty cards, great use of the frames!
Thanks Helen - Those little frames made these cards so easy to use up scraps!!
Definitely not boring, loved every minute. Thank you for sharing your lovely cards xx
Oh good! Thanks Sandy!!
They are lovely
Hi Mary - Thank you! This was an easy set of cards to put together.
So glad I found your channel. Beautiful cards. You have inspired me bring out my box of scraps 💐😊
Yay, thank you! Mission accomplished!!
I love that bookbinding card! Not only do I have lots of square scraps, but also a lot of square dies. That format is perfect for them and I’m excited to try one!
Hi Susan - I think they are just different enough that the recipients love them too!!
I made my first bookbinder card today and just love it! So glad that I happened to see it. Love your videos anyway but ideas like that are priceless!
Yay You!!!
Very ELEGANT cards!!! The timing of this video is perfect. I recently reorganized my dies and was reminded of how many frame dies I own. Now I have some inspiration on how to use them. Thank you!!!
Hi Kathleen! Lucky you to have so many frame dies. I only have that one. But there are 4 different styles on the basic scan n cut so I am blessed with enough. I hope to see some cards you made soon!
Wow! Frames! What a great idea! I don't have many frame dies but I have a Cricut and they have a cartridge filled with frames, so I guess I will be making some today. 😉 I love that bookbinder style card, too. That little tool you have for putting gems back into the container is terrific. Thanks so much for all of the wonderful tips!
Hi Susan - I think frames are an underused element in card making. And they are so versatile if you make them out of white cardstock. I have an extra one of those little trays if you are USA and would like to PM me your address over on fB page.
I love these beautiful cards.Thank you for sharing them ❤
Thanks Cathy! These were unbelievably easy to put together with the frame structure background!
You have to be the queen of scrap cards...you make it seem so easy to do.
I guess I'll have to make some frames and use them on some cards..
Your cards turned out really nice.....TFS
Thanks Terrie - These couldn't be easier!!
I love your cards and enjoy how you used scraps
Thanks Denise - The general sentiment on the front makes these really versatile!
Hello Julia, Firstly, you could never bore me!! I actually forgot it was Monday here (public holiday) and only just caught up with your video. I cannot believe how quickly you got them all made. I have a shameful amount of Kaisercraft die cut collectables and a ton of their papers too. I bought multiples when they had their really good sales though their inventory online is low these days sadly. 😞 I won't be without paper for many years though and will never be on top of scraps!! Its like thinking the laundry is fully caught up. 😂
Oh Kaye you crack me up! Yes scraps are just like dirty laundry that you are always finding more of just when you thought you had a handle on it. LOL
gorgeous cards
Thank you!! These were so easy with those little frames...
You're the first one that I see that uses Paper Wishes paper - I recognized the the paper from the two first cards in the video (the two last ones at the end). I used to order from them all the time. I stopped because I'm in Canada and it cost me too much in shipping. I like your POV on frames; it's a great idea too to have them cut in advance. I'm going to do that and see. TFS, Nicole
Hi Nicole - Welcome to My Channel! I try to use what ever I put my hands on that has scraps in it. The goal for the last year has been to systematically use up as many scraps as possible. And slowly but surely it is working. I have a large supply of PW paper, because they used to have fabulous $2 Tuesday sales. Sometimes all you need is a frame and a focal and your card is on the way!!
Hi Julia, what a lovely collection of cards. They all looked so pretty together and would make a wonderful gift for someone special. Julia, you are so clever using up scrap papers in your studio. I usually keep very little scrap paper as I use them up as I go, and when I make card bases I have no scrap cardstock at all. Sometimes if I do have scraps, I have been known to use them for testing colours for my card project.
You mentioned that you are using up what you have in your studio which is what we all should be doing, but are you still purchasing craft products? I haven't purchased anything for a while now, as I see all the stuff I already have in my craft studio begging me to get in there to make cards. Hopefully that day will be soon!
You have a wonderful and blessed day my friend. Love and hugs, Gloria 🤗☕🍰🌹❤
Hi Gloria - I hope you are having a lovely day today! I must confess I do still purchase some supplies and the packet of paper here and there. But my main goal these days is to use up all the scraps in the studio and not cut any new paper until I make a very LARGE dent in those scrap packs I have with all the parent packs. Blessing and Peace be Yours. Love & Hugs, Julia
Very pretty cards, Julia!
Thanks Sheila! Happy Easter and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!
Yes please show how to cut frames in all shapes and sizes
Hi Wendy - I will have to add that to the list for next year. The studio is all packed and moved at the moment. But I think there is light at the end of the move tunnel!!
Julia, you are definitely the master of scrap cards -- amazing! I was wondering where those magnetic dies are from and whether or not they are still available. Thanks so much. 😊🇨🇦
I got those from Ebay and I do still see them there once in a while. Here is a link for what is available there now. www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=magnetic+word+stamps&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_odkw=word+stamps&_osacat=0
Great ideas as always! I missed seeing you. Anyway, I would love to see a video on scan and cut process, even though I have a silhouette cameo. They can't be too different. What do you think?
Thanks Carolyn - I am not familiar with silhouette or cricuit machines. Honestly - it's all I can do to learn scan n cut LOL. But it would make sense that they have some of the same functions, you'd think!
Thanks for responding🙄. I love your channel. But I get what you're saying. I have that Cameo for years. I thought when I retired I would learn. It's been 4 months now so I have run out of excuses to learn. Hahaha. 😉 wink wink. Keep those videos coming. I appreciate you!
Thank you Carolyn! Here's my question - is it still in the box - LOL!! If it's out, that's sometimes half the battle. You can accomplish miracles - go for it!!
Julia, I’ve really enjoyed your scrap busting series. Thank you ever so much for the inspiration. Please can you tell me where you get your ATG refill tape from. I in the UK and struggle to find it. Thank you.
Hi Wendy - I know amazon has started stocking it, but I usually purchase from Tape Depot. They may only be USA, but here is a link - www.tapedepot.com/product/standard-atg-tape-56720/ Be sure and get the Scotch 714 and not the universal.
@@SeniorSusieStamps Thank you for the quick reply. It looks like they only deliver to USA. Never mind. I'll keep looking.
Hello Julia/Susie, this is first time of coming across your videos and have stopped the video at about 8 or nine minutes. I'm already hooked and need your help.......please. Have very short memory so need to do things as i remember them.
In the few minutes i watched several things popped up.
You had an A2 list of sizes going down in size that could be used for your A2 cards sizes? Is this a) a list you 've worked on in a video, if so, any chance you would share the link to it please. b) if you have no video of it, would you send me size sheet .... or copy rather 😊
Have not had chance to see any other of your work but am so excited to. Thanks and am running back finish watching and will subscribe before I forget. Regards from UK 🇬🇧
That is always over on the facebook page pinned to the top so you can find it - here is a link - facebook.com/seniorsusiestamps/posts/pfbid0k2z9NuRnb9MvzT4LgzGzGT49PVysqreqwCeq2PDyd4D7UXPcjyXM8JRw9hfWDSJul
Does it ever happen that you dislike some paper enough to rid of it without using it? 😆
W e l l ... I have given some to the schools for their art classes. But, usually I can figure something out! I know that's crazy isn't it?!
I am sorry that I am not your neighbour…😊
We'd have fun wouldn't we??!!
