Thanks for creating this video. I'm 5'2" and have never had a comfortable office chair (or desk). Have been considering the Leap, and this video was super helpful.

The problem with having a chair low is that usually makes it too low for most desks/tables. I almost always do the opposite and make the chairs go as high as possible because otherwise the desk is way too high for me to use

I know all the requirements for an ergonomic chair as I am recuperating from both cervical and lumbar spine surgeries. The question which was not answered in this video is: which brand manufactures an ergonomic chair for petite people with spinal problems which does not cost an arm and a leg?

I'm 5' 2" and really liked your pointing out what to look for. I have a problem that I haven't found addressed yet, that is tail-bone pain. Do you have any suggestions on what type of seat to look for and chairs to recommend?

I'm 5'2" and years ago, due to the constant back and neck pain (and fibromyalgia), a former workplace actually bought me the humanscale freedom chair. It was the best chair I've ever sat in, and it adjusted very well for my height. The problem is the price at over$1000. I've been looking for a decent chair that wont break the bank but havent found one - many don't have an adjustable seat pan. I've tried the Herman Miller at my current workplace (larger size) which didnt work for me and also the steelcase leap (at my last workplace), which unfortunately was an older model and needed repair. Guess I'll keep looking.

with rfm seating you can lower the Arms by putting spacers in place, swap cylinder height to decrease the overall height of the chair. As well as Order a custom seat pan to fit narrower hips.

I am 5' 5", 290, sit 40+ year and now due to current chair/desk issues am in therapy for severe back and shoulder issues because my desk is 30" high and my arms have to reach up to kbyd and mouse 8 to 9 hrs a day. Have poured many hours into finding any chair that can put my arms at neutral height and be affordable/comfortable. This video was very helpful.

Thank you - this is great - but while the low seat position is very important, so is being able to raise it high enough so when sitting at a desk (with a footrest) is also vital - how high can the low seat chairs go?

Thanks a lot. The video is wonderful!!! Actually, I have found a desk which could adjust to as low as 64cm and of course it costed much more than normal desk. Now I am searching for a proper chair accordingly. Through your introduction seriers and with some research, I have just found out that Steelcase Amia height could be adjusted to 41cm which from all Steelcase chairs is the most suitable for short size person. Leap is even 41.5cm. Could you maybe make another film that specifically comparing both for short size people? Thanks in advance.

Could you suggest a stool/drafting chair with a footrest that is adjustable such that the small adult could follow your advice but still use a standard desk? Basically it would be more import for the draft office chair to be able to work on a standard desk; ie the lowest height setting to work with a standard desk and needs to allow that adjustable footrest (Ring?) to be moved up to accommodate the short adult such that their feet aren't dangling and they have the right angles you describe. The issue that I have with following the advice provided in this video is if the chair is set to say 14.75 or 15 at its lowest height isn't the short person going to be way to low on a standard desk? Then we would have to consider scrapping the standard desk for one that can be lowered or by default is lower to be the right height to fit the chair that is set to all the right settings you described. How can we have our cake and eat it too without having to get a non-standard desk? Sadly I don't think rings really provide the correct angle for feet to rest upon so I'm not sure any of these ring drafting stool office chairs quite meet the needs. Ideally this foot service would be deeper than the standard diameter of the adjustable ring.

I am a video editor and creative I need to seat for several hours.I am 5.1 tall. My ergonomic chair has a very large seat and my lower back suffer as well as my shoulder because the chair is too high too. The pain is unbearable! Even using a foot rest, and ergonomic cushion for my back. I " sink".There is a way to try these chairs in a real shop?

I'm 5.9 , so i'm not short by any means , but so far with the 2 ergo chairs i've owned I've had to use a pillow to support my back and bring me closer to the desk (sort of a way to bring the back of the chair more forward since common ergo chairs naturally make you sit back) since I find a tilted forward position way more comfortable for gaming. When I game I'm in a sort of slouched aggresive position towards my screen with a big gap between my legs and the seat and i think most of the time only my toes are touching the floor. Can anyone offer some advice as to how to solve this issue? The chair I'm using right now doesn't have an adjustable seat depth so maybe if i could shorten the seat depth I could make the chair sit me in a more forward position, since with a pillow I'm only sitting on the front 70% of the seat only.

Hi! I have linked the chairs with time stamps in a pinned comment above. The chair with the headrest that fit me is the Nightingale IC2 chair. While the headrest did fit, I found that the seat height did not go low enough for me and I am 5'2". In order for the chair to work comfortably, I would use a footrest. If you have any other questions on the fit of this chair, or any other chairs, just let me know! - Taylor

Hi Michelle! That chair is the Nightingale IC2. While this chair's headrest does fit well, the seat height did not. As you can see, the chair is all the way down, and my legs aren't at a 90 degree angle. This can be fixed with a footrest though! If you have any other questions on the fit, or other chairs, let me know! -Taylor

@@btodtv Hey, thanks for the reply it’s greatly appreciated! :) would you recommend this chair? it’s in my budget and the competition was a gaming chair haha (i’m aware of how awful they are now). I’ve asked around and heard so many good things about the chair apart from the hard armrests. I plan to use the chair with a footrest as I have assumed already that my feet won’t be able to touch the ground.. short people probs. would you recommend it or not?

You’d be surprised, if you’re really really short it gets hard to find chairs that have a seat depth that allows you to bend your knees. Overtime this really hurts the back because you either scoot forward and have no back support or you scoot back and have back support but can’t bend your knees
