Great review! Every review needs to have fire from now on. The Humanscale footrest is my endgame. Every plastic footrest I've ever used I have broken so currently I'm using a very robust metal rest but unfortunately not movable
Hello! Wondering if you find the footrest loud when you rock it? Saw some videos on review on Amazon with loud noise, not sure if it’s by design or malfunctioning
i ended up gettting the kensington (#8) on your list, I am so glad i did! the chair I have rn is the older secret lab omega and my feet don't touch the ground even at the lowest. my back hurts a lot now and I was using my subwoofer as a footrest. this has helped temporarily relieve some of my discomfort while I try to decide on what chair to buy! thank you for your videos! (my husband laughed because he heard me give an audible sigh of relief as I was setting up the chair and realized my legs weren't being slowly murdered by the rim of the chair haha)
The memory foam on the Kensington looks nice, but that plastic doesn't look like it'll last very long. I've seen some complaints about people experiencing breaks after a few months, but I guess they could've been misusing it.
I recently bought one and the build quality is not up to scratch, it feels cheaper than a smaller footrest that I bought for less than half the price of the Kensington one.
I sometimes forget about the footrest and put a bit too much weight on it when I get up from the chair by mistake, and the Kensington is broken after a bit less than two years.
The built in desk at my apartment is way to high so I use 3x Husky-Kneeling-Pad-90346 (from Home Depot) to get my legs in the right position. They are 1.5" thick NBR foam and unintentionally perfect for this application. They have a little bit of give, but firm enough that you can lean back against. Without them I find my Aeron remastered C digs in close to by knees
This is the first footrest video where I have seen someone actually using the footrest! Even the brand released videos don't do this. It sounds like an obvious part of reviewing a footrest right? but I guess not. This was an excellent review video and made my workday! - thanks
There seem to be a lot of clones of the Leemart on Amazon, unfortunately none of them is significantly wider. Agree with you that that is the main issue with this model.
I've started seeing chairs with built in leg rests now but none from reputable manufacturers. Do you think you could make a video on them to determine the best one?
LOL @ erectAF. You have fun making these videos and your enthusiasm comes through. If you ever do a follow-up video, I'd be interested in hearing about how you like the foot hammocks.
Hahahaha I had to make it fun for myself to make footrests fun for the people watching! Glad you enjoyed it!! Never tried a foot hammock before but I LOVEEE to elevate my feet up at my desk.
@Ahnestly Ordered chair at Relax the Back store 11/18/23, expect to pick up at store in 2 weeks or less. I agree on the fabric 👇. Paid extra for leather with 5 wheels. Foot rest definitely needed for tilting back. Concur on arm rest. Will be interesting to see how my 6' 1" husband feels in the chair. I'm 5 feet, over 130 lbs, hopefully my last chair til retirement!
Surprised the foam one only got a 6/10, I'd probably prefer that since it's the simplest (nothing to really go wrong or break) and best for cleaning. You didn't mention anything about cleaning on the Kensington, interestingly. How is it in terms of that? I can't tell the top material above the memory foam.
Looks like to me a fixed fabric that you can't remove. I imagine like the ones with the grip tape materials(because that's what that is, skateboard grip material) you'd have to use a multi-surface, dish soap and water, or a mild green cleaner and a soft scrubbing brush to clean the fabric. Then point a fan or heater at it to let it dry out. Exposed foams have an bubbly airy texture to them. Sort of like how the EVA foam on your shoes have a texture on them. This is how you can tell the difference from an exposed foam or if it has fabric covering it.
@@MrMega200 yeah I wasn't sure if it was cloth or a leather-like material. If it's cloth, it would be way more difficult to clean than the simple foam one with the removable cover.
The foam one got a 6/10 bc it really isn't great as a footrest as the curved top feels meh and the flat top is unusable bc it slides around so much! The Kensington is a fixed fabric like Nick mentioned. Because it's a much denser material, I imagine you can use a fabric cleaner for it!
Torn between the Footmachine and Kensington. Just bought an Embody and waiting for it to arrive and as compelling as the footmachine looks, the price scares me just a bit after the purchase I just made previously lmao
OHH i've been waiting for this moment. I LOVE these slippers. Kept my feet warm in the winter and I can wear them in the summer with no socks on bc of moisture wicking wool!! I got the shoe version bc I'm running around all the time in my studio and needed more secure fitting. Slipper version: geni.us/kMtC Shoe version (what I have): geni.us/LQifjA
Is this Kensington going strong after nearly a year of this post? I've surprisingly never got a foot rest but probly should on my wood floor... Love the video haha. FIREEEEEE! lol
I have the Humanscale FR500 and I kind of wish I bought the FR300 because it's adjustable. Got suckered in by the black footrest and "award winning" design they advertise for it. (What award and when?) Would be interested in your thoughts if you ever try it out!
Can't even get the wooden one in the UK anymore, but honestly the height adjustment feels pretty clunky. If you have a height adjustable desk and chair, then technically you don't need a footrest. Although, I've heard about some ergonomic experts recommend a foot rocker to prevent your feet being static for long periods of time. However, if you definitely need a footrest, maybe check out Score, as they are very sturdy and have great height adjustment.
This video is so helpful. I've been looking at foot rests for MONTHS but was reluctant to pull the trigger. Might just have to pick up that Kensington...
Can you check out the "ayalon" from Staples? Similar price and build quality to the popular hyken BUT to my untrained eye it's a great Aeron clone. Adjustable arm rest height, in out left and right, seat depth, tilt and tilt tension with a wider and (in my opinion) more comfortable seat than the hyken.
I've been sub'd and didn't even realize notifications weren't on!! I was thinking you took a break or something lol Changed that today, no worries! I really appreciate your reviews. Literally, review anything and I'll watch it! Plus, I'll probably end up buying as well lol 😆 ... #mankels
Thank you so much for the kind words and your support! It really really means a lot! Also, are you saying I have mankels???? Now I feel incredibly self conscious...lolol.
That's why I prefer the tilting ones. With the tilt, you can achieve 90! Also, I think the 90 degrees is more so saying your thigh should be parallel to the ground, not necessarily your legs bent having to be 90 degrees!
@@Ahnestly Every single ergonomics channel on this platform says, "knees bent at 90 degrees, feet/heels placed on the floor." At this point I am fairly certain it's all made up. xD I got an Embody x Logitech recently and I don't know if I am going to return it. I am 5 foot 6 inches male, 175 pounds, and I just cant seem to game comfortably in it. The arm rests dont adjust backwards and it feels like in order to game comfortably (at least competitively) I need to perch at the end of my chair. I think this idea of using lumbar support when competitively gaming is confusing people. Razer actually released this video where they had a PT guy on there talking about (Relaxed vs. Active Posture) when gaming and it's the only time it is ever mentioned in the entire collection of chair ergonomics on youtube. *shrug* I dunno. I'm at a loss. I really enjoy your channel though. Will continue to like all your content. If you were to tackle this particular topic in an upcoming video, I am sure it would perform very well.
The Dagotto are not that cheap and they are not good: the metal frame is OK but the plastic plate just that, uniform cheap plastic, so it gets damaged as you rock it (you can feel that the sliding is not smooth and over time it starts spitting bits), and ultimately the plate will crack. Would not be an issue if Ikea sold cheap top plate replacements you could put on the (pretty solid) foot, sadly they don't, so you're out a footrest. Mine lasted 3 years. Which is longer than I expected when I got it and saw the unreinforced plastic, but hardly great. It's basically a better version of the mount-it: it's more stable, but the quality is bleh.

You just helped me shop through the longest amazon list ever in under 10 minutes. Thank you very much!!!!

Did you buy the product? Any good? Does it help with back pain?

Those things can work surprisingly well, especially if you don't need a massive height range to bring you in line with a desk.

i use an old beat up skateboard with the wheels removed. lots of fidget factor, super planted, and the rocking is rather controlled

i use a local brand flueline for my footrest, its a tank. I just ordered a foot hammock, you should try one

what you end up going with? Thinking of the Herman miller footrest to complete my aeron
Bro your channel is so good wtf 😂 you’re really good at what you do man keep it up
hahaha thanks! I really appreciate it!!!
Have you seen longer footrest? Maybe like 4-5 feet long?
seems like the best option would be to go for 2 of the leemart footrests
At the cost of two of those you could easily get the most expensive one from this video tbh.
Is the Huano that Amazon is pushing the same as the Mind Reader ? Looks similar. Don't want something that wobble slike that.
You miss out the most famous foot rest from Herman miller...the leather foot pillow by herman miller. i have 2 of them.
