    I just bought my second Z6III. Previously Z6II & Z6III. The Z6II is now the backup to the backup. I shoot dual cameras on a harness. I was getting crazy about the small but visible color & white balance difference on the II & III, it gave me so much head ache in LR. There was no other way to solve it, I had to buy another Z6III. Having two bodies with superior AF was cherry on the cake. For some chapters during a wedding, I walk around with one lens - mostly the 50/1.2. But I can't see me going back to one camera full time. So much freedom to walk around with a 35/1.4 and a 85/1.8. You got almost everything covered and you indeed start to see things through the lens(es) even before you take the picture and it makes me a better photographer.

      How have you liked the Z6lll for shooting weddings? Autofocus / colors / etc.

      Awesome! You've got a great combo there!
      Yeah I get that, when I had different cameras back in the day it drove me nuts having to get all the photos to match!

    • @caleidoo
      @caleidoo 2 дня назад

      @@mattandrews5983 The AF is much better. Far from perfect, but better. I had all Z6's. It was a small step from Z6 to Z6II, but bigger from the II to the III. It feels snappier. A bump in resolution would have been great. Now it's the exact same MP, with a little bit of more noise because of its semi stacked sensor, but unnoticeable in most cases. And still very good for high ISO. But nothing Lightroom's AI NR can't deal with. Colors are great, no problem there. The one thing that bothers me the most is the change of how the back screen swings out. Now it's old "VHS recorder" style: the screen opens to the left of the camera, off axis. The Z6 I & II had a different style, which was way more practical for photographers. It was also quicker to extend and close. Now it's more vlogger focussed, people want to see themselves when recording. I don't do video, let alone record myself while vlogging.

    I agree with you. I think it’s better to take breathtaking photos at a same focal length (50) than good pictures with a zoom lens. If your pictures are jaw-dropping nobody cares what focal it is. And 50mm 1.2 probably gives the best shots.

    Thanks for the tips ! I will start this year my activity as wedding photographer with the following set up : Sony A7IV and Sony A7C with a Sony 50mm 1.2 GM & 16-35 G F4.
    All that with a Godox V1s pro.
    I think I got all the things I need to start in the best possible conditions.
    Of course I will replace my A7C when I will have some cash, to get a double card (for safety) but before that I will buy a Sony 24 70 GMII as a back up lens.

      How did your lens fail if I may ask?

    • @caleidoo
      @caleidoo 3 дня назад

      Never had a body fail, always a lens. Dropped a Sigma 35mm F1.4 Art on a concrete floor years ago - that one hurt. But my fault of course. Got totally locked up mechanically, it was gone. I did have a Tamron 24-70 F2.8 G1 fail, which was weird. It suddenly went all over the place with its aperture, pictures over & under exposed for no reason. Some ribbon cable came loose or tore apart apparently. About the bodies, I think, as a wedding photographer, it's also important to switch to a newer body before you hit critical shutter clicks numbers. So an pre-emptive upgrade, basically. Sometimes the same body, if nothing better is available. You can keep the old one as a backup, if needed.

    7:07 OR an alternative (may not be super comfortable lol) by a base plate and cage for your Camera and stick a V-Mount Battery on the back (50W should be good for stills, should last you all day!!), a D-Tap dummy battery and call it a day! Money saved on batteries!

    • @lukewtcleland
      @lukewtcleland  3 дня назад +3

      Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! I don’t think a long lens is a must. I do use a 105mm prime, but I wouldn’t suggest it as a minimum must have. I think it’s a nice bonus, but again sometimes adding too many lenses can be a distraction so I try to be careful about it!

    And please, for the love of the couple getting married. Get a color card, and especially when you have 2 bodies. The worst thing after not having photos that are a bit off, is when every other photo is off.

    Great content and advice! This is also very similar to how I utilize my gear. Do you stay on the 50mm through the ceremony as well? I do probably 90% of my day on the 50, but typically will be on a 24-70mm for the ceremony. That’s the only part of the day where I sometimes find the 50mm restrictive.
