Man, I didnt think id learn so many different useful techniques in 1 video. holy shit.
for anyone wanting to rotate the tracks
add a child of constraint to the tracks then select the curve as the target then unselect everything but y and z
(you might want to reverse x with y) then press set inverse.
then add another child of constraint with only the rotation x y and z selected but don't inverse this time
if it doesn't work you might want to set origin to geometry (f3 then type origin then set origin)
i litterally cannot thankyou enough my computer animation assignment is 3 months overdue cuz the damn tracks didint rotate
do you mean rotate as in rotating on any axis? Because whenever I rotate on any axis or move the curves on anything besides the x axis, the tracks deform

Very nice tutorials...i like it very much. Its same like chain animation. When you move the circle/curve along x axis, the tracks rotates and move forward/backwards, but if u move/translate only the tracks, it will rotates but not moving forwards. :)

How to import unity for track without location.
When i did shift D my copy came out crooked, why?
How would you go about exporting something like this to a game engine? Can I somehow bake the vertex positions to create blend shapes from the constraints? Would you go down a different route?

This might seem dumb, but how did blender automatically add the rolling motion to the tracks? When you moved it, the tracks rolled too without any sort of 'physics programming' or whatsoever. I thought the tracks would just slide along when you moved it

I don`t know, it`s just how the curve modifier works I guess. Should I get an art station page?
well many famous artists(blenderguru for example) use it to showcase their work online. I think it'd be a good place to showcase your work for both companies and fans

Just in case someone might be here that can answer it but how do you get it to work in unreal? When imported it does not rotate the tread instead a motionless tread literally moves across the y axis in unreal, I assume because we used g and moved it across the y axis in blender, anybody how to fix or get it to work in unreal?
I assume because you would need to do it with bones instead, with a vertex group with full influence for each tread. Still trying to figure this out myself, but I am pretty sure you need to do it with bones, not with the animation method shown here.

Hi, if you move the array object once it's attached to the curve, it'll spin around on the spot. Then, you can keyframe it so it looks like it's spinning in place. c:

click on your cube/thread link. in the object constraints, add a "copy rotation" and choose the bezier curve as target
Changing the Z location value of the circle fucks up the entire thing. Anyone got any idea why this is?

Hi Olav, I parented the tank tracks to the cube when I animate Y axis no problem, but when I try to rotate the cube, the tank tracks break up, they go all over the place.
But if you turn it it flips out

I followed the tutorial step-by-step and when i grabbed the curve in Y direction, the curve only moved and the tracks didn't, any idea?
P.S.:
I used Blender 2.8 Beta, but when i made it using Blender 2.79 it worked very well, does anybody know why it didn't worked in 2.8, other than it is still Beta :)

Luv your videos but it didn't work for me. As soon as I added the curves modifier, my array went in all different directions. Even after I changed the Deformation Atlas still all over the place. Will have to watch someone else's Tut

it doesnt wokr anymore the circle points were increased its not them 4 lines anymore it has lods of points all around so you cant do it
there's just one problem, when i move it forward, it moves backwards.
delete blender and restart the project

Foes this work when you export it to a game engine. Say, unity.
unfortunately no. You are moving an array of objects along a curve modifier only. When you apply the modifiers the animation doesnt work.

This doesn't work the best with realistic tanks. The curve modifier bends and deforms the geometry. Which is not how a tank tread works.
It does not work when I export it to Unity 3D. Also how can we make these track rotate without transform the whole track array? I mean I just want to simulate tank track movement.
This is not a Unity 3D tutorial though, I have no experience with that program.
@@Lewisscrivens How exactly do you do this? Sorry I'm new to rigging and animating but this won't import into unreal without literally just moving the entire object across the y axis so I desperately need an answer
