Good night!
Thank you very much, for posting this video. I do not usually comment on such guides, but your information was very helpful!
My T300RS GT, is less than 3 months old, with only light use (until the last 2 weeks), when my rig was built
Developed this exact noise, and it felt rough when noise was happening
Thanks to your handy information, I saved a timely RMA process !
No warranty stickers, or anything like that, so no need to worry about warranty.
The process was easy! I am familiar with building PC, and mechanic work, but not electronics, and was very simple.
Only things to note -
1) All of the small black screws are the same (for chassis, and plastic frame)
2) When removing the inner part, of the internal frame, the (silver) screw at 3 o clock is smaller diameter than the others in center
3) To remove the lower belt tensioner assembly, you must first remove the front flat panel (there are 5 or 6 screws around the face of wheel, please check), and it is clipped in
Becareful, as wiring to buttons left & right is short.
After front is angled, you can remove the tensioner, please note there are 3 screws on tensioner unit itself, to hold to wheel base, and 1 in center - the bottom left of the tensioner screw is hard to access, best way is to angle the front panel of wheel (mode / L3/R3 buttons) and put screw driver through hole
4) When re-installing, you may need to apply minor gentle pressure to lift belt to fit tensioner, be mindful and no problem
Just be mindful not to lose screws, and anyone can do this, with only 1 phillips / X screw driver, please ensure your tool has good fit 🙂
Including removing from my sim rig frame, and checking guides, and re-installing - time taken : 90 minutes
To do a second time would take me 45-50 minutes maximum :)
Thank you so much !
Very helpful video! Recently my wheel also started squeaking just a little and decided to fix it ASAP. Turns out I had the same problem as well. Thanks again
It’s 2021, and mine exhibited this squeak issue within a couple of months. Followed your guide as closely as I can and managed to fix the issue. Just need to lube the location as indicated in your video. Thank you.
You were right, everything works and it's so quiet! Thanks!
That´s the spirit: If you want something done right, do it yourself! Good man!
Still everything is working great so far, the noise have not come back :)
Thanks for the video... am about to commit to buying a t300rs gt and now researching or the possible problems and how to prevent them or fix them... would you still suggest me to buy this? my budget only allows for t300 or g29... If t300, what tips can you give to keep its life-span as long as possible?
thanks!!
Thanks I heard the issue before and I thought about buying a different one instead of the t300RS GT just because of the problem but now I know how to fix it if it happens to me
Still ok?
Bought the T300 2 weeks ago and it already started to make this sound. Thanks alot, working perfect!!
@@jkwanness a T300RS is worlds apart from G29 in terms on construction and of course performance. I’ve used the G29 before my exposure to T300RS GT edition. But coming from G29, the TM is just a much better quality product with flexibility on the steering wheel add ons, and option for T-LCM load cell brakes. It’s just a better ecosystem and product.
Ty so freaking much for the vid! It was the same thing the same problem and only after 2months , that part was so dry almost no lubrication. You saved me from returning it and waiting for a new one for who knows how long . God bless you
Thank you it works! I used multi-purpose lube and applied using the straw sprayer attachment so to not void the warranty. Meaning I didn't have to remove the screws at the last part of the video.
Many thanks my friend.
Thank you so much!My wheel started to squeak suddenly like 30 mins ago After playing AC and i found this video and this is the exact problem i have!I just applied a bit of chain lube oil and the sqeak is gone!
Thank you! i just bought my new t300rs gt about a week ago and 3 days in it has does this noise but this video helped me thanks you bro!
You can lube it without losing warranty!
I did it using silicone lube spray with a thin shaft. Remove the screw (without red paint) and apply spray into the hole, also I applied lube with this shaft(nose) onto the scratching axis by spraying it in the gap between gray panel and cog itself. Hope this helps! Worked for me!
I'm stuck at removing that screw, was it hard for you?
@@alexcarolan8825 I don't remember having very hard time doing it)
@@VadixeM thanks for the reply, mine won't budge an inch, nearly destroyed screw so I give up lol
Thank you so much! I'm not that good at English, but these arrows at 3:34 helped me to understand :)
Thank for you this! Tried it out and my squeaking is completely gone 👍 now to play some F1 2021 🏎️
Thanks so much! Just fixed mine today using your vid!
Perfect video, mine needed lube in the exact same spot. I wasn't sure what kind of grease to use but I ended up using wd40 white lithium grease that I previously bought for my fanatec pedals' squeaking. My wheelbase is no longer squeaking and it spins more freely now. TY
Thank you ! Solved my problem too. My wheel sounds like normal again👍
Thanks! Mine just started doing this but not nearly as much as yours. I'll fix it when it does it more.
Thx man, I had the same problem and the video helped me solve it, thanks again!
Thanks, very helpful video. In my case the squeaking noise was coming from the other end of that shaft for the large white dual cog. With the black cover/tensioning plate removed, I could slide the large cog out from the metal plate about 5mm or so and lubricate with a bit of grease on the end of a cocktail stick (plumber's silicon grease instead of petroleum based grease since it is in contact with plastic parts). The only other thing missing is detail on which screws to remove to open the case. The following video covers some of this:
ruclips.net/video/SmmdA_4z_ak/видео.html
After that, the front panel is removed with a further 5 screws on the front and 2 underneath.
Taking the appropriate care, it was about a 2 hour job alright.
Thank you, same problem…
You are the best !!! Thank you very much my friend
No problem my friend, I am glad it got fixed, take care!
How did you put the front cover back on? I had to cut mine up to make it fit over the shaft.
Thanks, did the same and it worked. For me it looks like mine is overtightened a bit but tightening mechanism is protected with warranty seals. It seems that all necessary screws are not protected with warranty seals so it's almost intended to be maintained from time to time, but I think TM will void your warranty if you directly say to them that you tinkered with your wheel interiors.
Thank you for the video, however, it would have been great if you would have shown us exactly which screws you removed. I am paranoid I will do it incorrectly and make my issue even worse than the squealing (squeaking) :) noise!
Understand the question fully and I will do that if there will be another video in the subject, hope the assembly went fine anyway.
Everything is working great so far, the noise have not come back :)
FrontSeat Racing can you please tell me the diameter of the gears.?
Tahmid Islam I have no clue, sorry.
does the noise create any problems to your knowledge ? mines started doing it after a week
Josh Schock Hello, I don’t now but I guess its no problems or worries, just noise.
Nice vid, i will have to show some support :P
extremly helpfull, thank you.
Har precis samma problem med min Thrustmaster TX efter bara en dags användning...
@FrontSeat Racing - What are those two unplugged cables for near the steering wheel connector? its wrapped in a rubber band and doesn't seem to be connected into anything, I was just curious as I have the same base unit. Thanks
Hey, it is default thrustmaster for a shifter kit that makes the paddles static fixed to the base rather than turning with the wheel. Old T500RS got that solution.
FrontSeat Racing Thanks for the answer as I was confused cos there's no mention of that in the manual. So it's obsolete? x
I don't know how to remove the front cover
Hi! Does the wheel still work? And has the squeaking sound gone away forever?
Hey Bart, wheel is working great and its been over 2 years so thumbs up.
FrontSeat Racing oh that’s very nice! I was thinking of buying one used and out of warranty, so this video surely will come in handy when I face this very issue:)
Thanks for sharing this easy fix
Another good video ,good to know as i have a Thrustmaster t300rs wheel altho i dont have this sound :D
Do you know where I can find a replacement motor for my T300 RSGT? THe steering is extremely chunky for lack of a better word. I can steer 10-15 degrees in either direction and then its like there is a giant speed bump to go over before it releases and then 10 more degrees and the same thing. I have no clue what it is, but I'm guessing it HAS to be the motor because even unplugged it is still chunky, choppy, but definitely not smooth anymore. Thanks for your time.
hi there. great video thanks. do you ever open the base to clean it from dust ( something like maintenance) or you just let it be as it is?
Hi, I just let it be and there are no instructions of that action needed from Thrustmaster. Take care!
I have the wheel (GT versrion) for about 3 months and already after like 1 week of use, my pedals started "squerling" ( :) ) .... checked the video where other guy just opens and lubricates them.. So I did the same and since then, pedals are OK. And not long after pedals, the wheel base started producing this - the very same noise like you show in this video... So, now I know what to do...
I was also in contact with Thrustmaster support.... they always took like 10 days to reply (with a Covid excuse). They recommended me pedals lubrication by themselves. About the wheel base, they wanted me to send it back to them... but for the same reasons as you mention, I decided not to send it. I would be month(s) without wheel base, and new piece would have started doing it after another week again....
OK... Once I have 2 hours free, I go open my wheel base and "lube it up". I don't have problem while drifting, the wheel does not squeek when drifting, but once lapping in GT or open wheeler...., it squeeks just in the position I use the most for turning right (like 20° angle) and - it is quite a distracting element.... You stop focusing and only "expecting" the squeak noise to show up.
In general, I am happy with the product. I tweaked FFB in AC as much I could.. and it feels great. But these noises from both pieces.... Is it really THAT problematic to use enough grease already in the factory..? .... (we all know the answer)
They also have an issue with the grease on the Thrustmaster Warthog stick. There is so little grease and it's so sticky that you sometimes need to push the stick with more force than usual to get it to move. My old T.16000 also had an issue with almost no grease applied to the gimbal, which caused a lot of friction that made it hard to move precisely. But Thrustmaster is not the only company doing this, I had to put grease on a lot of mechanical parts over the years because there was either not enough or it was put in the wrong place, not lubricating anything.
Do you think electrical contact lubricant would suffice for this?
What grease or lubricator did u put on there?
I used just a regular cheap lubricant/greese. Good luck!
Hi. I have a noise exactly like shown at 0:52. In that video it happens when you turn left. To me it happens when I turn right. But I think it is the same problem.
Does this method work also for that noise?? And what kind of grease did you use for the fix?? And where do you exactly applied grease?? Thank you
Hi and sorry for late answer, I don’t know if my solution will make your problem go away, please give me an update on that. I just put the grease on both the piston end and the plastic cover, should be shown in the video. The grease is just the cheapest one you can buy aimed for outboard motors, cars and other similar stuff. Hope you found your solution already to this problem! Take care and thanks for your comment.
@@FrontSeatRacing i opened the wheel... but i was afraid to take the belt off :D I was afraid to do something bad, i am not so good doing these kind of reparation. So in the end... I did nothing for the moment. And I keep the noise. Also because i really CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHERE IT IS COMING FROM!!!
It is not so annoying and cause of the noise of the car you can hear absolutely nothing while driving. It also seems that the wheel works smooth as before. Since has not warranty anymore, I also can't RMA. I'll wait for some days to see if the noise get worse.
Does the noise appeared again to you???
Understand Andrea, I would not have taken the belt of either because that takes it to another level of own repairing. My sound have not coming back and it was over 1 year ago I did the fix shown in the video. Your problem seems to be different according to the sound, not that plastic sound but I believe other users must have the same issue that you do so keep locking for solutions online!
Had this issue after not using it for a while. And after a week of heavy using it just gone. Really weird.
Great!
Do you have a link to your custom shift light indicator? Thanks
simracinghardware.com/product/thrustmaster-gte-pro-race-wheel-plate/
My ts-xw also has this problem only under load and turning right, I just had this wheel for a couple of days.. what do you guys think? Should I rma this and ask for another one?
Hi.. I have spotted a cracked component on the board, and I need some help identifying what it is exactly. It has MCC 43A marked on it. Is there anyone here who may be able to help with finding a replacement part?
Sorry, no clue but hope things got sorted out!
Hello, thanks for video! Faced the same issue on myt300 rs gt! About ending of warranty, is there some kind of sticker that you put off and then Thrustmaster service guys will know that you were under the hood?
Only warranty thing I've seen is they mark some screws with red paint inside the wheel
can i but oil instead of a lubrication
Haha, try it 😊
@@FrontSeatRacing i will try it and told you
Is it bad to drive untill it squeaks more?
I have no idea but I belive it should be fine anyway.
I will definitely look into this on my T500RS :) I appreciate this video being out here
Thanks you a lot!!!
Great video. Btw, I have taken off both tensioneers (!). The wheel feels like butter now.
Where are the "tensioneers?" Not sure what those are, but I sure would like my T300 to feel like butter!
Around the intermediary gear. They are each mounted with a single screw. Their role is to keep the big belt stretched. Their position can be tuned. For example, if you feel "friction", they can be set loose. If you feel a deadzone, add tension. Careful, the screws are made in China. Unscrew one of them and take it off to understand how it works.
deggial2005 Awesome. Thank you. Did you just remove them and nothing else?
deggial2005 I took a picture of it to clarify but I don't think there is a way to send pictures via RUclips. The belt runs over the gear obviously and there are 4 screws directly behind the belt on the metal area. Are those the screws you are referring to?
JDubInDaClub yes you need to take that cover off to gain access to the tensioeers. Careful, in order to sfely remove the cover, the wheel must not be tighten to the table. You can tighten it back after removing the cover. Check a dizassembling video.
Awesome stuff
I've noticed mine has some kind of odd vibration when the wheel is turned. Could this be lack of greese problem or something more serious ?
Not to worry man, thats just the notchiness of the gears, perfectly normal
@@krzysztofcylwich2817 Thanks for the asnwer :)
My wheel started squeaking during force feed back about a day or so after I got it. 👎
What Lubricant should I use. Do you really need 2 hours to fix it?
Tim vom Wege Hello, I used just a regular lubricant/greese. Good luck!
I put a rubber O-ring on that axle. This way, the gear and the cover will never touch. Then I greased ;)
Sounds like a lovely solution! Thanks for letting us know.
Works for me thx 👏
Axinte Costel Same here 😀
Very helpful video! I have an issue with my recently purchased T300. I suspect that there is some play in the main belt which goes from the motor to the first gear. So i'd like to check the belt tension by removing the top cover of the base. Would this void my warranty? Are there any seals and or markings on the motor mount which would tell it has been adjusted? Thank you in advance :)
My guess are that you can remove the top cover and take a look and see if something is wrong, if I remember it correctly there was no marks on the screws there but about loosing the warranty I have no real answers, as seen in the video the only marking are on the belt tension thing and not the motor itself, before you do anything check forums and search if other people having the same issue or if its just a normal behavior that you are having with the wheel. Good luck!
i lubed the spot and i think it actually got less squeaky, it would be silent i guess if i used more of the lube or a different kind of a lube (i used a bicycle chain lube xd)
pro tip - dont unscrew the red painted srews out of the thing that covers the spot with shaft and belts
I just bought mine last month and now i''m already having the same issue.
Same here
I got mine yesterday, and it already started squeaking
Hello, it's me, MARIOO.
Hi, my squeaking video is a part of yours 😀
Ah, cool thing and how is the wheel doing nowadays?
I have a problem on my t300, when I use the steering wheel and the belt is under tension I noticed that it makes a slight click as soon as it comes under tension and I turn the wheel on the opposite side to the force of the ff. It makes a single click then if I keep turning the steering wheel from the same side it's all ok but then as soon as I turn the steering wheel from the opposite side (change of direction) another single click returns again.
Is this normal on the t300?
I have tried both to loosen the belt and to pull it but the problem remains.
I want to confirm that the click is really very light so I think it's a physiological thing about this steering wheel and not just a problem on mine.
Has anyone ever noticed this?
Hi, I have the exact same behavior. It seems to come from the large gear under the motor. I almost got rid of it by tensioning the motor belt, but there's still a little click anyway. Did you solve that?
Interested also as I have the same issue ….
@@robertomozzicato249 did you solve it? I could not identify where the click was coming from .
@@manadog Partially. In my case it seems to be the large gear's pin clicking when you change direction, as if it has some play. Removing the belt the click goes away, so it has something to do with the belt tension. So I checked the pin screw for bending or tightening, but without success (visually I can't see the pin moving but I hear the click).
So at the end I just played with the belt tension until the click almost disappeared. It's still there, but you have to really pay attention during a game.
@@manadog i sold my T300 and now i have a DD OSW... T300 for me is a crap
Or install the newest Firmware its way better but its not away
squirting sound :D
00:50 Is the small offset of the motor gear normal? I have the same
Hi, sorry for late answer, I do believe it is all fine, something is best untouched. Let me know how it went, tale care!
Hello
Can you explain it in Spanish?
Or written in English?
In Spain it information is very helpful, my English is very bad, thanks
I wish I could but no, sorry! So no no
Yo puedo hacerlo!
The thing is I haven’t even had my t300 for 2 months and it’s doing the same thing
Too bad, as you got warranty I would suggest use it. GL!
man I just did the same thing but the noise is still there, much less. maybe its another component I need to WD40
Wd40 is not a correct lubricant for this apprication. You should use it to loosen rusted parts only.
Use a grease spray of some kind.
Thanks for the video... it's a modern toy...
My t150 is making this noise a lot
