Just installed my High Country Cluster in my 2021 Custom Silverado...took 30 min.....already had Leather steering wheel installed long before when i upgraded to leather....all controls work...added the ONE wire...GM sells this wire and can be ordered from any Online GM parts retailer....
Does the backlighting on the steering wheel controls work? I changed my steering wheel yesterday and lost the backlighting. I'm still waiting for my cluster to come but hoping the cluster and wire fix that.

I was looking at spending about $750 just to upgrade the steering wheel with controls. This will not cost that much more and will give the appearance I really wanted in the vehicle.

Nope - not possible. The base IOR radio trucks have a non color base cluster that is controlled with the single knob. Do you have to upgrade to either the 4.2 inch color screen or the high country cluster from WAMS, and add the wire to he added from harness Dr

I just wanted to give a shoutout to MonsterTek for helping me get my truck totally setup successfully. I now have a working new steering wheel with controls and a working High Country cluster. I followed the instructions to create a new wire (with proper pins according to documentation from Upfitter) successfully. My radio controls work along with glowing control buttons. I couldn't be anymore happier and ecstatic about the whole installation. Thanks again MonsterTek, and I will be looking into activating my heated steering wheel sometime in the near future and perhaps (if advantages) upgrade/install navigation if possible.
This put a smile on my face, this is what its all about. Stay tuned, a viewer is sending a steering wheel they ordered to me. It was a spare, so I am going to map the wiring and get the heating element to work. I'll shoot a video for a how-to once its complete.

I unfortunately bought an after market steering wheel with heat and front end detection without realizing I didn't need the front end detection on it. The reason you needed the wire was to run the radio? WAMS discription on their web site says the radio controls will not work with the IOR 7" radio version.

Do you have to have the high country clust in order for the upgraded steering wheel to work. Or will the upgraded steering wheel work with the factory cluster to operate the radio.
Did you need to do an alignment afterwards? I've read that sometimes the difference is just enough to need an alignment to track straight. Either way, this is HUGE. Also, I am curious though - with the 2021s that come with the safety confidence package that has the steering wheel controls (along with leather wheel and LT style custom), is that a harness you can purchase separately?

Yes the wire is needed in any case. I have not attempted to install radio controls on the original cluster. I can tell you the High Country cluster had to be programmed for it. I suggest getting ahold of the guys over at WAMS (White Auto and Media) and asking them the same question.

I did the swap and im getting a wiper fluid low display on the cluster. My steering wheel controls won't clear or change the warning. My reservoir is full. Do you have any idea of how to clear this warning.

Unsure, I didn't scan it, I just deleted it. This one was chalked up to the amount of connectors and components removed. I was check engine free prior to, so I wasn't worried about it. Some guys don't get a check engine light.

The air bag is easy peasy! Unhook the battery and let the truck sit for 10 minutes to allow residual power to bleed out. Then unplug the bag and have a go at it.
I don’t think you needed the auto stop wiring to turn it off I saw a different video that showed how to turn it off with doing a few steps with the on off of the key and brake pedal, if it works or not couldn’t tell you haven’t tried it yet (2021 chevy silverado 1500 custom, same as yours)
I can confirm that if you just change the steering wheel and add the right side buttons and back of steering wheel buttons, they DO NOT work. I did this. Next step is WAMS and Harness Dr

No alignment needed, the steering wheel can only go on one way. You cannot rotate the wheel out of alignment.

i have put a few autostop starters in but its pretty rare, they are much more beefy than normall ones
I am sure they are engineered to last. I mainly hate the starting and stopping of the engine.

What kind of check engine light was thrown, airbag?
Unsure, I didn't scan it, I just deleted it. This one was chalked up to the amount of connectors and components removed. I was check engine free prior to, so I wasn't worried about it. Some guys don't get a check engine light.

So when you added the wire did you actually pin them or did you just stick the wire In there
I pinned them with the proper pin connectors. I am working on a list of parts and will update the description soon.

@@terrydotson1155 No, there are (2) screws behind the wheel that you need to remove to take off the steering column cover.
@@monstertek7394 I already installed the HIgh Country Cluster and did not remove the steering wheel..the steering column cover has no screws and is attached with clips only....

I’m intrigued by this! Would I be able to replace the instrument cluster and install just the right sided audio switch on the steering wheel instead of replacing the whole steering wheel like you did? Wonder if I could still wire everything up properly?
You could if ordered the buttons and harness and install it in your current wheel.

The air bag is easy peasy! Unhook the battery and let the truck sit for 10 minutes to allow residual power to bleed out. Then unplug the bag and have a go at it.
I really don't need the upgraded wheel but the better dash I'd love to have

I don’t think you needed the auto stop wiring to turn it off I saw a different video that showed how to turn it off with doing a few steps with the on off of the key and brake pedal, if it works or not couldn’t tell you haven’t tried it yet (2021 chevy silverado 1500 custom, same as yours)

Can you change the steering wheel and not the cluster just to get the radio controls?
I can confirm that if you just change the steering wheel and add the right side buttons and back of steering wheel buttons, they DO NOT work. I did this. Next step is WAMS and Harness Dr
I've upgraded the cluster, added in harness and upgraded steering wheel. Do we have any upgrade on the heated steering wheel?
