When my son was little, my mom was watching a show she used to watch when she was younger. It was in Black and White. All of a sudden he said "What was it like living when everything was black and white? It must've been so boring." He thought that's what the world was like. 😄
Ever seen an old black-and-white movie, then watched it again after it has been colourised? The effect can be startling and you can see why kids might think the whole world used to be B&W.
Same! I’m a hobby WWII buff and when I was a kid in late 70s-, I would pour over books on the subject, the photos, of course, were mainly black & white. I still have to ‘recalibrate’ when watching a color WWII film.
My son is on the autism spectrum. This story touches strong with me. The world wants him to be something that he isn't. I'm ashamed to say that sometimes I've wished that too. But he a color, a rhythm, a path that's different from others. It's beautiful and scary to me all at once. This story reminds me not to stomp out that color. Interesting concept and excellent execution. Although I almost wish it could've ended with him using the crayons to spread color on the walls and everywhere before submitting to the prisms. A futile gesture perhaps, but a symbolic one.
@@privatemale27 Oh, that will be taken care of! In fact, that makes for quite a plot hole/missed opportunity -- if color is so valuable and the humon body continually produces more inside itself... well, you can figure out the rest! Clearly, for this concept to work the insides of things with color removed must be b&w like the outsides.
As a colorblind person, it took me a while for this to really register. I mean, I can see colors but have a hard time telling what they are; therefore, I tend to not differentiate various cues based on color. Generally, I ignore colors since I can’t trust (or, rather, can’t be trusted) what they’re supposed to represent - you know, like a stoplight. In that case, I have to rely on the lights’ position. Anyway, once it dawned on me how Cold War Soviet Union the scenes looked, I had to start over. Interesting concept that I took more seriously after seeing the girl killed about…color.
The technological advancement concepts were very creative and the fact that this episode shows what government can do when we rely on them was undoubtedly a fantastic feature

It has taken me a long time to reply to you I'm sorry about that and I now see what you mean I don't think the government should be too big but I have come to the understanding that corporations are much worse in the long run and democracy promotes freedom other than that this was an amazing cyberpunk short film.

A unique take on the "usual" story of authoritarian corporatocracy, expressed via the lumen-industrial complex. Remarkably well done into a 15 min short. For a scifi plot to work one must use a subject that creates suspension of disbelief in the viewer. Sadly, for me at least, the idea that color can be extracted from something without physically altering/destroying it in the process would have been a difficult concept to swallow, but at least the concept of bleaching exists an so is usable; however, the idea that color can be removed to turn into energy is jumping the shark. The color of objects comes from their reflection of light they don't absorb. To remove their color would mean either adding something to block the color the object absorbs, or removing the reflective pigments which would result in the object turning black as it absorbed all light energy. Neither option is really believable enough to suspend my disbelief as both would have the opposite effect. The energy we're talking about in both situations would be solar related. So if color absorption was the goal then it should have focused on extracting all of the light it self casting the world into darkness; however, disregarding the plot, the fundamental production quality and acting was very good.
Indeed. It's a monumentally ridiculous premise. If you needed more colour you could just extract red blood cells from all living creatures and grow lots of flowers.
