      @@PDXguitarfreak exactly mine has the 3 way blade switch and single knob- never use tone knobs much anyways so don't miss it. Great review and axe.

    Hey great video! I have a Usa Select sl-2h and it's definitely the best guitar I've ever played. What's your exact signal chain and what gauge are you using for strings?

    • @PDXguitarfreak
      @PDXguitarfreak  6 лет назад

      Thank you Alessandro! I use 9-42 gauge D'Addadario NYXL strings. As for the chain, in this video I plugged my guitar directly into a POD HD500, and then direct from there to my PC. However, I sold the HD500 recently and am now using the Helix.

      Thanks! How is the helix going?Does it work accurately while tracking metal guitars?

    Very unusual colour I like it a lot, and your own shots made it seems sort of copper with red/orange overtones.

      Thanks! I knew I wanted a big and bright color, and this one definitely fit the bill :)

    Sweet Jackson you just picked up and are getting some super tone out of it. Enjoy your latest acquisition and look to forward to hearing this axe again.
    I have one the next step down from across the border: 2015 Jackson Pro Series DK2 in Satin Orange Blaze. A beast of a guitar, too! Sadly, not long after I bought the guitar it got dinged with 2 chips in the paint. 😑 Tiny ones though.

    • @PDXguitarfreak
      @PDXguitarfreak  6 лет назад +1

      Right on bro, I like those too. Yours is just like my Charvel DK24 in terms of specs... almost identical. There are a lot of snobs out there that look down on the stuff made in Mexico, but I have a few guitars made down south (including the Charvel) and I think they are great.

      I also have 2 MIJ Charvels & 1 MIJ Jackson.
      As long as they play well & have great tone, I am good to go!

      I'm with you on that! If plays and sounds great, I don't care where it was built either :)

      PDX Guitar Freak btw..those new DK24 models look awesome !!! I love that narrow profile. I was extremely close on pulling the trigger but had to get the CS..a life long goal of mine. lol

      PDX Guitar Freak Thanks dude !!
      I ordered it in a trans green flame maple top chrome hardware, the floyd, reversed thw shark fins just because lol Matching headstock. I've owned a usa sl2h about 11 years ago, and always regretted selling it. Grew up loving Jackson, and to have a custom shop logo Jackson inbound, just blows my mind. your a great player btw! I've been watching your vids for years now! Will absolutely do a vid when it comes! !

      That is going to be a STUNNING guitar bro. I was actually thinking of trans green with quilt top when the thought came up of getting a CS Jackson, but then stumbled across this one and decided to go for it. Do you mind if I ask what the cost came out to be?

    • @rrguitar1
      @rrguitar1 6 лет назад

      PDX Guitar Freak Of course..with tax, $3255.00
      I actually thought it would be more. I specd out the same exact guitar..woods and all, and it came out to very close to my price. I forget the site. .there's a fee dealers online where they let you spec your own CS jackson and then get a full price.
      You know, not too long ago, Jackson had alot of color options that fell under USA production models. Now only white and black are production and everything else falls under CS.
      I probab would've done the same thing you did if I saw a CS in a store. lol Yeah..something about the trans green..o thought about the quilt but went for the flame. I'm really excited about it. You still have your EVH red stripe?? I was super close to just getting that instead. . EVH gear related just calls a guy..lol

    • @PDXguitarfreak
      @PDXguitarfreak  6 лет назад +1

      Okay, that sounds about what I was anticipating for the trans green quilt, when I was considering it. The lack of colors in the standard USA Soloists these days is disappointing and one of the reasons I went the route I did. The black is everywhere and it just doesn't excite me at all.
      As for the EVH striped series, yeah, I still have it and I still play it. It's a fun guitar, but I think you pay a little too much for the trademarked stripes LOL. But like I said it's a fun guitar :)

    Nice guitar! Before buying a good guitar, how many guitars did you buy that were not so great? Even to try all guitars in a shop could be not enough to find the right one, when did you get what guitar you were looking for? just asking 'cause I would like to spend money (sooner or later) for something good without having to change guitar every week if I don't like it. cheers

    • @PDXguitarfreak
      @PDXguitarfreak  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Gabriele, thanks! I did not purchase my first "high end" guitar until after I had been playing for 20 years - that was my PRS Custom 24. Before that, I had only owned guitars that were (at best) in the "mid level" category, which these days I consider to typically be in the range of around $900 to $1500 (although others may disagree with my range, and place it lower or higher). While I definitely appreciate the way a high end guitar feels and plays, I think there are plenty of great guitars to be purchased in that middle tier, which are fantastic guitars. Let me put it another way - anything I can play on a high-end guitar, I can play on a mid-level guitar too, and get it to sound just as good. Again I do appreciate the feel of a high-end guitar, and can tell the difference, but I don't get hung up on that. Anyone that does, or complains that they can only play on high-end stuff, is probably not a great player to begin with.

    First of all. Great everything.
    Only drawback for me is I think I’d prefer black hardware. It’s a great color but now I’m starting to think that a sparkle would take it to the top.
    But fantastic nonetheless.
