The acting part is by a comedy pair, Langsam and Feldman. A comedy of getting kicked out of school, portraying it literally. He mentions he was one foot out for 1/2 year, and now the other foot
@PortuguesePai Lipa is the most Versatile (he can make you laugh, dance and cry in the same song), Energetic and Charismatic Performer! Peter even interviewed him.
This is in honor of a yeshiva/school that caters to teens that dont fit in the regular traditional system headed by the famouse singer beri weber. The place is called kochvei ohr which means bright stars.
I don't think anyone can expect you to be able to pronounce names in two other foreign languages. Especially since within those languages there are different dialects. But I love that you try. I think that's pretty respectable
Peter actually has a video where he interviews Lipa. Lipa is an extremely interesting character with an extremely interesting journey finding himself as hasidic jewish singer with an artistic sense.
Kochvei Ohr is a yeshiva run by Beri Weber for chasidic teenagers struggling with the mainstream system. This video was to promote a fundraiser for the yeshiva. Peter Santenello actually visited the yeshiva in one of the videos in the series that you didn't watch Based off this video you have some homework to do! Gotta check out some of these singers. I've recommended Daskal and Ungar and sent links for their videos in the past. You should definitely check out Dovy Meisels, Yoely Greenfeld and some of the others as well. Lots of talent out there!
I just had to comment how amazing it is that you got over 3k views on this video in 1 day. In case you don't know already, you have a huge Jewish fan club 😉
So the song starts off with a "kid" thrown (literally) out of his yeshiva (school) and the other guy is asking what happened.. Kid thrown out: "for half a year I was one foot out the door". Person 2: "and now?!?" Kid thrown out: "I'm both feet out the door!!" 🤣🤣 So the song goes on to say how not everyone is the same, and have the same talent and strengths, and that lots of students fall through cuz of the high expectations lots of 'standard' schools have.. so those kids could really benefit by going to a yeshiva (school) where the mentors and rabbis are more open minded and understanding of each individual and their strengths.. empowering the students in their own unique way.. (saying that this yeshiva offers that) Vid ends off with.. Person 2: "according to what ur saying this type of yeshiva will put you back on your own feet (pun intended)" Kid thrown out: according to what ur saying, this place is gonna cost me my pants (ie arm and a leg) Person 2: ...and.... Kid thrown out: it (yeshiva) already cost me my pants (pointing at his ripped pants from the fall) 🤣🤣
There is another song that many singers sing together, very elaborate and beautiful. The song is called UNITY, (search on RUclips 'unity official music video'). All the big stars are there and the song itself is wonderful
Yeah that was the Jewish "we are the world" they even did a few scenes trying to mimic that video, particularly the party of MBD leading a crowd of singers and random people.
That's actually not a prop book. It's a "sefer" (Hebrew word literally meaning "book"). We use the word "sefer" for our books on the Torah. English speaking Jews pronounce it "sayfur". ("Sefarim" is the plural form.) Many of them have that marble design on the side of them, but I don't know why. It's an interesting thing now that I'm thinking about it! Yes that painting is of people praying at the Western Wall. And I don't know Yiddish, so I can't answer any questions about what's going on lol.
You nailed it with Lipa, he's famous for his musical comedy/performance/creativity and lyrics rather than strong voice etc. he likes to call himself the Jewish Lady Gaga. He was pushing the boundaries in hasidic music to the point that he was ostracized from the community for a period of time until his recent comeback
At the last bit, when he points to his torn pants, he is asking if the special yeshiva will cost him "in the pants" which is a Yiddish phrase for expensive.

I’ve mentioned it on one of your past videos, but just a general guideline: if it’s Hebrew of Yiddish, you pretty much won’t ever find the “ch” sound being pronounced the way it’s normally pronounced in English, with the exception of the word “chulent.” It’s pronounced like the sound you make when you’re hocking a loogie, or like the “j” sound in Spanish (maybe also Portuguese?), such as in “jalapeño.” I’ve definitely heard you pronounce it correctly before, like when you say “challah bread.” So just extend the same principle to every “ch” in Hebrew/Yiddish words, and you’re golden!
@@PortuguesePai it’s almost all words. Hebrew doesn’t have the normal “ch” sound in it, nor does Yiddish, for the most part, with rare exceptions, like the aforementioned “chulent,” (which is a stew we eat on shabbos) and “bentch/bentching” (which means to make the blessing we say after eating a meal with bread). There are probably others, but the safe assumption is to assume the guttural sound.
I'm sure people will explain in the comments the point of the video, ruclips.net/video/Sj6BA4Wk0bs/видео.html This video from Peter will make you understand more about this video.

this video highlights a big problem and sad part of the insular chasidish communty ( or maybe orthodox as a whole) where many children and teens are rejected from schools and institutions if they dont fit into the perfect box , but then the video also highlights the other side where when someone is having a problem , someone comes up with a solution and thousands band together to help fundraise so that the solution comes to fruition. This is a fundraiser that was for Beri Weber's yeshiva, which he opened for teenage misfits in the chasidish community. This gave the teens a place of feeling like they belong and they did amazing things. I'm not sure if the yeshiva still exists.

Yes, but not the group of Israeli artists (that's what they're called). In addition, there is a wide variety of great oriental singers like Moshe Peretz who is worth checking out. This is a different type of poetry, more meandering, different from the Hasidic music that he often criticizes
This is for a very good cause, but the song is objectively awful 🤦♂️. The beat is very off and doesn’t work well with the lyrics. I’ve been in this world for a while and I know only about half of the people in the song. Very strange beat, and some people use too much auto tune. But there are many hidden jems in this video who many people don’t yet know.

He's reviewed plenty of Israeli singers. Have you checked out all his videos?
