Once again a great reaction from you! "Kad Yasvin" is actually not in Hebrew, it is in Aramaic, that's why it may sound different than anything you've heard this far. The song is about God telling the Heavenly Angels to see how the Jews throw away and forget about all their pain and troubles and study the Torah and how they take joy in God's word. Hope that helps!
I LOVE YOUR WORK!!!!!! I LITERALLY WAIT EVERY DAY AND CHECK 10 TIMES A DAY IF/MAYBE YOU POSTED SOMETHING NEW!!! KEEP DOING GREAT WORK MY FRIEND!!!!!!
Omg I’m not the only one! Can’t think of any other channel on RUclips where I wait for a new vid haha

Fair enough 😂
Same here I just keep on checking in many times a day to see if there is another upload from @PortuguesePai 😋 loving every video so far
And then when he doesn't post one day (up until yesterday he's posted every day since I found him) you wonder if he's still alive...
I'm subscribed and I get notifications when he posts, and yet I still "check" even without any notifications.... 😂
@portuguesepai we're addicted. It's official.
It's awesome to follow your channel and rediscover songs I haven't heard in a while!
This song, which was a big hit, was released on Benny Friedman's first album at the end of 2009. The composition was by Meshulam Greenberger, who composed many hits in the 'Ultra Hasidic' style. The person who originally wrote the arrangement and also the overture is Moshe Laufer who is responsible for the arrangement of most of the classics in Hasidic music.
Yes!! I'm so glad you did this one!! :D
The Shira choir is smaller and they don't have the audio controllers because this is a relatively older video.
They had the larger choir back then also but you have to pay for each additional member. The choir arranger's name is Yoely Horowitz, and aside from him they always need from each section of the voice spectrum for it to have the 'Shira' sound and for the harmonies.
Men and women are separate for the entire wedding. The stage (for the singers) is at one end of the hall, perpendicular to the mechitza (partition). So when there's an entire orchestra and not just a one man band (or at least very few people on the stage), the stage will end up being partially in the women's section. It looks like those trees were placed there to block the view of the women from the band members (because women don't dance in front of men.) Often, women will go check out the band, which is obviously what's happening here. I can't tell from this video what the layout of the room is, but the women were obviously somehow able to find somewhere to watch the band from without getting on the men's side.
I assume that one of the cameras was fixed in place and it happened to focus on that one band member.
By the way, many of the live performances of Chasidic singers can be found on wedding clips, like this one.
Absolutely cracking up from your point about the repeated showing of the trombone player. As far as I'm aware he's just another band member. They must've just had a stationary camera on him the whole time. They've gotten much more professional in the years since then with increased camera shots lol
Yes, those are definitely the core members of the Shira Choir. As the premier Chasidic choir they sometimes will get hired for multiple jobs on a given night so they split into as many groups as they need and not everyone is available for a gig every night so they have a rotation of around 20 members
The kvetch!
Also you are so on target about Benny friedman’s voice, he can sing anything and it will sound rich and work for the song. Very reliable.
Also as to your question about men and women mingling at weddings aside from during the dancing-that really depends on the crowd and set up. Many in the orthodox or Hasidic circles will have separate everything-seating, dining, dancing. Depending on the venue there may even be separate entrances. “Mingling” if done, is typically only with family and not just general mingling.
This song for sure touches the soul.
I always look forward to your videos, thank you for reacting to Jewish music!
This song is from Benny's first studio album. This might explain why he was the one to finish it.
Kad yasvun are the first 2 words they repeated throughout. With the pronunciation in this song, they are saying with more of a Hasidic pronunciation so it comes out more like “kad yasvin/yasfin”.
Fun fact: The language of the lyrics in this song are Aramaic (I think that's a first in terms of the songs you've reviewed thus far).
It's more of a mix isn't it? Lots of Hebrew in there as well
@@johnjacobs7426 Aramaic and Hebrew are sister languages, so many words are similar.
When the choir stared it had one group and about 6 people now they have about 20 people in there band
So they can divide in three weddings a night
More Isaac Honig please 🙏
One of my favorite for slow songs 🎵
issac in my opinion has got the greatest voice in jewish music.
In reference to the individual controls I thing this video is old prior to technology being so detailed
Just to confuse you a bit , this song is not Yiddish and neither Hebrew, it's the aramaic language, it's something similar to Arabic/ Hebrew, the Talmud is written in that language,
Surprised to see Benny doing such a traditional, serious, clean cut song.
Some newer Jewish good quality videos that were filmed and edited with very nice quality, I think you would enjoy!
Rega - Freilach Band feat. Mordechai Shapiro & The Shira Choir and Hanan Ben Ari Medley | Freilach ft. Benny Friedman Shulem Lemmer Itzik Dadya & Yedidim
I see you're into Hanan Ben Ari, well I'm with you in that 😅, and I'm happy that the freilach band covered some of his songs.
That "yearning" style of singing - that's precisely what MBD is famous for. I know that the last song you listened to of his wasn't great, but his style is very much like that.
It's pretty standard in the singing of Chassidic niggunim, I don't think MBD can take credit for it
@@jedimmj11 Of course, that style isn't known because of MBD. I mean that MBD is known for doing that style very well.
I'm listening to the song further, and Benny is definitely channeling an MBD style in this performance.
The lyrics are a mesorah (tradition passed down to us) from the Chazon Ish.
By bigger weddings that have big bands and big name singers, they'll make official clips like this
Strictly speculation on my part on why the camera keeps focusing on that one band member playing the trombone is because it is the only angle the camera can catch the name of the orchestra which is on the music stand of one of the
musicians behind him. As for the meaning of the song. As someone mentioned it is in Arameic not Hebrew. Aramaic is the language in which the Babylonian Talmud (still studied daily by Jews across the world) was written. It was the most commonly spoken language at the time the Talmud was written. It is a song which expresses how God views the Jewish people while they are studying the Torah. Here is a loose translation. When the Jewish people are involved in studying the Torah. God says to his court (various angles and celestial beings) see my beloved children have forgotten all of their suffering and are just involving themselves in my joy.
PLEASE REVIEW AVRUM CHAIM GREEN - GREATEST KID SOLOIST EVER!!
Yeeees
It think that's just where the film crew happened to place the camera for this video.....don't know they were actually trying to get this specific trombone player
This is great and I know you did the Rivi with that guy cohen the other day but you still have to do something with Rivi and his son Eli
Love this song!
Check out dovy miesls Jewish guitar player!! And dudi kalish creates an orchestra live - Mir dinner !!
Love your videos! Please react to THAT JEWISH FAMILY. they are also good to watch in general if you have any questions. They have a dating video and their own Hasidic Jewish wedding you can react to
Eli schwebel must watch!!
Would be cool to see him react to Eli's "Stand For You"
Benny sings this song on one of his albums.
Love your videos have seen all of the Jews video already the reason I'm watching it again first I like you second I love to see your reaction
Isaac is pretty niche. Nice voice and some really nice songs.
Still anxiously awaiting for you to give levi Robin a try. He is a combo of chassid and hipster. You will be happy did it.
Great job. Just a bit under scored the duet with Benny doing high harmony witch is beautiful! Worth reviewing this video ruclips.net/video/O6BpzaJ8ZKw/видео.html with Zanvil Weinberger hitting unbeatable notes!! A awesome singer. Performance at Dirshu celebration (for ending studying Talmud).
Translation:
_When the Jewish people sit and involve themselves with the joy of [learning] Torah, the Holy One, blessed be He, says to His retinue, "Look at My beloved children, who forget their own suffering and involve themselves in that which I delight."_
is in the gemara a few places, the literal translation is entourage
How is it spelt? I searched פלמיא in Sefaria and nothing came up
@@jedimmj11 chagigah 13b and sanhedrim 67b , maybe more
@@avremelkatz6006Oh, it's פמליא... 🤦🏼♂️
Oh interesting, it's from Latin, related to family, which originally meant servants, which is additionally interesting because shifcha and mishpacha are also related, so it's cool to see the same word pattern in two different languages.
Can you do more Hanan ben ari- "shemesh"..

Since you love the 'krechtz' so much- Isaac Honig, Shloime Daskal, Shloime Cohn and Hanan ben Ari are top (we just call it 'hartzig' aka heartfelt/soulful)
I will send you some of their links in a separate comment
Those 4 members of the Shira choir are the core members. The man with the flat hat on the right is the co-founder of the choir and he probably has every night a wedding where he conducts a group. His name is Yoely Horowitz and he's usually doing melody
The second on the right is also conducting for Shira. That's probably when shira has a lot of jobs in one night. His name is Eli Shprei and us usually doing high harmony -- like him a lot.
The third from the right is usually doing melody. Personal opinion: they're probably taking him a lot because he looks good for the music video lol. His name is chesky Breuer -- very musical guy.
The 4th one is barely conducting choirs and is usually doing high octave, very powerful voice. His name is Hershy Weinberger.
Shirabhas seniors and juniors the seniors will have priority the guy on rhe left is from the first and he always sings on the high octave
I advise you to do yakov shwekys latest music video Boruch Hashem it’s shabbos
The separate thing by the Mike is a new thing And that is a old video
Funny, this trombone player isn't even the "most famous" trombone player for the various Jewish bands......Danny Flamm takes the cake in that category

Ya Issac is one of the greatest OG singers in the chassidic music field but just not good at performing so don't judge him by his performance just listen to his singing
& about the question why the camera keeps on showing the trombone player I don't think there is any significance in him over the whole band, maybe it's just how the cameras were set up & this was one camera angle...
You should check out this video it's a live preference with Isaac Honig & Zanvil Wienbeger you will love it
ruclips.net/video/sVWdDPSxRk4/видео.html
Ooo that criticism in your first paragraph was unnecessary...
It's not criticism It's just the fact that he is a very shy person with a great voice & sings very good but he has real stage fright
Look at the video I linked in my comment & you'll see how he looks down & his hands are shaking... don't get me wrong I love to listen to his voice but his talent is singing & not preforming that doesn't make him any less of a singer & there's nothing wrong with that
@@allforcreativity Got it. Guess it's the way you had worded it.
I really love your reactions!

For me the mixing in this song isn't the best. I guess the date has to do with it. Today they produce way better quality in sound and visual.
Nice song though.
Agreed. I didn't even notice when the video was released 😅. I should probably check the description part more haha, but even so, it was not terrible. But I definitely see what you mean.

To most Orthodox Jews who have been immersed in Jewish music for a long time, this song sounds very wrong. The lyrics are originally from another classic song whose tune is so closely tied to the words that it's hard to hear it put to a different tune. The original tune is sort of like a lullaby. It would be as if someone took the lyrics for The House of the Rising Sun and set it to an entirely new tune. You would not be able to listen to it without being confused, no matter how nice the new tune is.
Here you can find a cover by MBD of the song with the original tune: ruclips.net/video/HOfNjlcbdqI/видео.html
It doesn't sound wrong, it's just Benny's version. I love his studio recording of it. Everyone who listens to Jewish music expects to hear the same traditional texts put to different tunes.
& BTW for me [ as a satmara talmud ] there's a third version! It's actually the first version I knew & they teached it in chaider & it was sung every year before shveois
@@jedimmj11 To me it just sounds wrong because the original tune is just so closely tied to it, like a hand and a glove.
It doesn't sound wrong at all. This one has taken over as the more prominent Kad Yasvun
@@ygross18this one has taken over? No and never. It's a very beautiful song don't get me wrong, but the old tune will always be the authentic traditional kad yasvin!
