I swear it’s like no one watched the same thing. They prioritized other needs over Barkley where the data showed a certain value. Barkley had the transition tag last year and was able to negotiate the market and didn’t sign a similar deal. He was given the chance to negotiate the market without a tag at all this year and clearly it was just better for each side to go their separate way. It’s a win win for both sides but sucks for the fandom.
Joe was straight and wasn’t okay with another transition and definitely not the exclusive tag.
It’s Daniel Jones hate - that’s the only thing I can think of. I’m in your boat, really dumbfounded by the takes I’m seeing.
Giant fans don’t love saquon as much as non Giant fans think we do.

Speak for yourself I loved Barkley and he is going to destroy us twice a year he has a great cast around him and an oline for the first time in his career I wish him the best sucks he's an eagle but we have had many chances to sign him and chose to let him test the market

No, no they didn’t. Got Singletary at a fraction of the cost. Got four o-lineman (2 starters and 2 for depth). Got another 2 tight ends. Got a backup quarterback that isn’t made of glass.

I like Devin I think that was a brilliant signing especially under the circumstances, need a 3DB finally, other then Saquan I mean bc no one else over the years leveled up, no one. At least in the good ole days they had Bradshaw/Jacobs, either could start, Jennings was very good, Peyton Hillis was good sparingly, Andre Brown, we simply haven’t had it in almost a decade
But they paid 40 million for Daniel Jones instead of drafting Tua or Herbert the next year in the draft. Botch job on whom they break the bank with.

One of the biggest flaws in Schoens thinking is “we need to give DJ weapons.” Look at what’s happened to Davante Adams and when mediocre quarterbacks had him in their arsenal - still results in mediocre offense

What good is a 12.5 million dollar RB if you don't have an offensive line to block for him? With the money they would have paid Barkley they signed two proven offensive lineman to upgrade the offense and traded to get a top pass rusher. This is how you build rosters. You don't throw a bunch of money to an often injured RB that is aging. He's not the last link to a Superbowl run. This team had huge holes to fill and running back is a luxury in a passing league. They bolstered their line and drafted a future pro bowl receiver in Nabers. That's how you build a team in today's NFL.
Joe Schoen has a job that requires five years of consistency (so long that he’s doing it competently). I looked back at the four draft classes of Dave Gettleman - six of 35 players remain on the roster. The swings-and-misses from not just DG but also Jerry Reese was catastrophic and still

Let's keep it 💯, Joe Schoen made a mistake by putting the tag on saquon. Daniel Jones should've been the one to get the franchise tag, and saquon should've gotten the contract 2 years ago. Daniel Jones struggles reading defenses. I feel Joe Schoen has made some good moves, some others are head scratchers. Joe Schoen better hope saquon doesn't win multiple chips.
I'm not here defending some of DJs bad decisions but I'm not sure any QB could read the defense when you are getting pressured in about 1 second.
Because his o line has ranked 32nd every single year hence his and saquans injuries look at 2022 he destroyed he was top 3 qbs in the NFL and won a playoff game... so your wrong and that oline ranked 29th not 32nd and his wrs since entering the league other than 2022 32nd 2022 wrs 30th and had the most drops in the league so your blaming him for that as well?

Eagles overpaid for him because they are trying to recover from one of the biggest collapses in NFL history. If they would have gotten deep into the playoffs do you really think they would have overpaid for him?
Of course , swift wasn’t going to resign. Barkley was the main target & why do fans care if he’s overpaid or underpaid like it’s their money 😂 . Eagles still had money to sign other players & still have extra money to sign Justin Simmons 🤌. They will make a trade before the season starts or during the season. Giants are in rebuild mode & made a big mistake signing Jones 😂

Saquon is a much improved blocker I don’t think he’s the receiver CMC Is but still above average when he’s locked in. He has an injury history and a lot of mileage and is still explosive but does look like he lost a step

What do running backs have to be pissed off about? The only argument I routinely read/hear - ‘these guys have such shortened careers compared to their colleagues!’ Yes, hence not investing too much into them. Which RB is playing into his 30s? Todd Gurley has been out of the league for two years and just turned 29. Ezekiel Elliott is a shell of himself, albeit serviceable, and he’s 29. Derrick Henry just turned 30 and the Titans let him walk. It’s funny how many talking heads criticized Gettleman for the pick of Barkley and his outdated football ideas and now that the Giants are getting with the times, they still receive backlash.

Look I love Saquon and didn't want to see him go, but are the Giants ready to contend for a Super Bowl? Saquon or no Saquon the answer is an emphatic "No!" Football is about team building. I loved how Joe Schoen maneuvered the roster in the off season. He gets it. It's my opinion he is the best GM they've had since George Young.
Teams don’t let young healthy good offensive linemen hit free agency. So, saying that you had to spend money on two guards is complete nonsense. Pick up offensive lineman late in the draft and develop them.
And when was the last time that worked out? The oline was the priority this year bc it has been awful for over a decade. IMO veterans were needed. Neal and JMS still “new” and can benefit from the veterans”experience. Thomas is a dog! This should be a much improved oline.

There is No guarantee that the Eagles will win a SB , & without Kelce , their veteran starting ctr. RETIRING !!! That is the most important position on the OL , besides starting LT !!!

Saquon is a good pass blocker, i dont buy the narrative that hes not. Tape shows that hes pretty good anyway. But then again, the Eagles havent had a decent let alone good pass blocking RB in a whiiiiiiile so maybe my bar is set very low 😆😆
As electric as Saquon is, he could never master the art of pass pro. I remember Ahmad Bradshaw came in as 7th rounder, wasn’t capable of pass pro early on but 3-4 years in he was one of the better RBs at pass protection. Saquon never got it down. On top the injuries and he’s been getting caught from behind the last few years.
And Barkley was not the greatest in bringing the ball in while he was running full speed so he got tackled soon after he caught the ball & that definitely happened a lot more in the last 2 - 3 yr. , besides his average pass blacking skills !!!
Barkley is not just a running back, he's an offensive weapon. The Eagles know that. This GM doesn't enough brain cells to understand that. What was it the owner said to him on his way out? Hmmm.

Qb's are and have been overvalued and Rb's have been undervalued...
My point being, he is not bucking the system.. He is using his judgment based on the market.. Its not his fault Nearly All Rb's don't make 10M per .. and All 1 Qb's are All making huge money now 40M+ per .

Ask Recco what position other than RB should Barkley have played to reach the NFL? He could have made 4-10 times more as a QB but can he play that position? He wouldn't have made it as a Receiver. Can't tackle so he can't play defense. Maybe a Safety but he's a little too bulked up for that.

Sure but this team now has a ceiling and they are not going to be a superbowl team with Daniel Jones. Their foundation is weak.

They did exactly what was best for the TEAM. It's not the Saquan Barkley Giants, it's the NY GIANTS. Team needs first. We weren't winning with him so time to fix the obvious problems.
They need to invest in protecting the QB and getting after the QB. The Giants won super bowls being strong in those 2 areas. Salaries for these players is out of control. The majority of us can barely put groceries and gas in our broken down 10 year old cars but these players are making 40 million a year to throw a ball.
Owners have to split the revenue with the players, it’s in the CBA.
