@@thediamondfishingrod6042 it’s to do with the sound of the exhausts. a lot of 350z’s and G35/V35’s have really crappy exhausts that make them sound like trumpets.

v35 is definitely in need of coil packs, and spark plugs whilst at it
I've been dailying my 350z for 10 years - few tips. If the crank sensor needed replacing you'll need to replace cam sensors too. When 1 goes the others aren't far behind and they all communicate with each other so best to do the cam sensors too as prevetative maintenance especially if your going to be drifting it. Take half an hour to do all 3 super easy job - dont need to take off intake on passenger side can reach from drivers side behind engine. Buy oem sensors...cheap ones just sht themselves. Upgrade the cooling system on it and oil/power steering cooler if ya can, they heat up quickly on track when pushing em ....my thermostat shit itself at 170k kms. And the coolant bleeder valve on drivers side back of engine is plastic....replace with gktech aluminium one. Known weak spot and when they break/strip the head or explode can ruin ya day. And gktech diff brace and poly diff bush is a great addition considering diff has only one mount point without it. Will feel alot better at track and will put down power better without risking screwing your subframe. Get a aftermarket oil and coolant temp gauge as oem gauges are useless. Enjoy mate they are stupidly reliable cars once few things are done and handle like go karts.

Great choices. If you want a good non-trumpet exhaust for VQs, check out Kakimoto Racing. Had one of those on my V35 before I sold it, and it sounded great. Keen as for the Z progress mate!

ALSO UPREV CAN TUNE THE STOCK ECU IN THESE AND RUN LAUNCH CONTROL ROLLING ANTI LAG AND I THINK GHOST CAM AND 5 DIFFERENT PRE SET MAPS ALL FROM THE CRUIOSE CONTROL SWITCH
You can pour water or spray something cold on the crank angle sensor and it will stay running.

Be gentle with the gearbox to get it to last as much as possible. When the synchros fail you can get the full set from Nissan and upgrade the trans to CD009a spec and they shift better and last longer.

Bought one of these of an auction site with double the KMS and a couple dents for really cheap, she’s still drifting a year later! Great car plenty of power once you fuck off the electronic shit and weld the diff! A lot of parts for them especially GKtech, the new Silvia’s of this generation.

As a 350z owner, Iv had the exact issue with the crank angle sensor and after replacing that it was mint, those lifters sound a bit noisy but thats not something you should have to worry about for ages. Delete the traction control and send it.
Both cars are quite clean! just abit of love needed and they will be fine

I learned to drift in a stock 350z. Enough power for a newbie to do big skids, not too much so you don't bypass the basics of harnessing momentum.

knowing i just bought a clean no issue g35 for 6k for the same reason and seeing this makes me stoked. As I am just getting into this nice to know I can watch a build along side mine. Coil packs are a common failure on VQs. I would check those for that misfire.
For 5k AUS which is around 3k USD is average price for them here up to 7k, same for 350z its a good deal for a middle of the ground N/A V6 with some displacement.

ayo spotted the speedy inferno wheels, got the exact same set, well i bought a set for cheapish for my e46 compact, stripped its paint off with the plans to paint them bronze but couldnt find bronze paint so pivoted to painting them white, but i havent had the time to paint them or finish them off so gonna try sell them unfinished, nice looking wheels tho tbh

From one VQ to another, that VDC needs to get CHOPPED if you want any hope at drifting. Even when it's "off" it's still checking for wheel spin and will apply ABS

Cut ecu wire 101 and it'll let you left foot brake without traction control killing all the fun while retaining your brake lights
Oh yeah BTW in order of importance 1): "CATCH CAN AND OIL COOLER" are mandatory for DE G35 or 350z. Shit will overheat all the time and dump oil fumes in the air intake. Its like alot of oil. Another suggestion that made a huge performance difference as far as throttle response and over all running good since these cars are tricky cunts who like to run shit for no reason. Clean maf sensor or get new one oem, "cold" air intake. 3/8ths plenum spacer along with the other stuff makes a big difference. The throttle body drive tps can get fucked also theres a relearn peddal dance for it if you replace it. And obvi straight pipe Cover all your bases off the bat. I figured out all this shit over a ton of time with trial and error and forums.
