I discovered Dimash yesterday. He is a virtual unknown in the UK. I must say in my opinion this has to be the greatest vocal performance of any talent show anywhere in the world. I have watched this performance countless times already and each time I get goosebumps. EVERY performance is electric. Surely Dimash has to be one of the most versatile vocalists on the planet. I would even say with confidence that he IS the greatest singer on the planet. He can also dance. His incredible range, control, showmanship and dedication to his craft is on a whole new level. I watched an interview he gave from a couple of months ago and he was so impressive. It's almost like Pavarotti, Andrea Boccelli, Celine Dion & Michael Jackson are trapped inside Dimash. INCREDIBLE!

This was actually the first performance for the China competition's new season of The Singer 2017 [which was why the crowd was excited for it to start at the beginning] -- but what is often overlooked is that he was pretty much a complete unknown to that audience [he's from Kazakhstan and didn't speak any Chinese at that time], and he was the least expected or anticipated to do much since he was pretty much unknown to the audience [which is why he was placed to go first -- the most anticipated singers were set to perform last on that episode].
This was the first time the China audience and other performers in the back room on the show heard him sing. Between his first performance ["S.O.S." in French] and his 2nd performance [Vita's "Opera 2" in Russian], he quickly won their hearts completely.

@@npn8945 I'm a tenor and I can hit the lowest note he hit. He didnt quite get down to Bass in this song, but he certainly has the ability to. An F2 is his lowest on video.

Not a bass. He dips into a baritone area of his voice on occasion, but his lower notes lack the richness that a real bass or baritone would. Very good for a high tenor though.

He's such an amazing singer, his range is insane and his sense for the dramatics makes his such a great performer. You can see it in his face and stance "so you thought I was done? That is certainly open to opinion. He screeches to me. Hurts my ears. I hope he will learn the value of accessing a full range of tone instead of the very light carrying of hitting a high note quickly and going on to something else. IMHO, he's got a long way to go before anyone can call him the world's most amazing singer. I gotta turn this off, now I have a headache.....

Probably, he is the only male who can sing the song of the Diva Plavalaguna which named "The Diva Dance" from the film called "5th Element". Singer 2017 performance and Bastau concert live performance of The Diva Dance is incredible, but Shenzhen concert live performance is out of this world.

The difficulty of the first song is a 10 out of 5. I have been singing both jazz, and classical for 30 years, and have a 3.5-octave range and that is insanely hard. I am also a vocal coach and for you to sit there and say it was nice is kinda mind-blowing. This man has one of the best voices and ranges on the planet at the moment. Hard to deny.

Wonderful reply Pattii!!!! It's puzzling why he would mention his musical preference when his job is to REACT to the performance & what Dimash did Technically - especially in SOS is INSANE - we heard 3 Octaves of B in the Same Volume in the 1st 15 sec, Crazy Larynx placement, thinning & thickening of vocal chords to go from lite to heavy on a dime..... just extremely poor quality reactor
What was truly ridiculous was he was familiar w/ Vitas Opera 2 & he never points out that Dimash Starts higher than Vitas is able to close......
I don't understand why this is labeled a Reaction Video...... I watched an unqualified curmudgeon watch 2 musical performances of a technical difficulty that is off the charts & he either doesn't understand what he just witnessed or he is intimidated by it

interesting, yes. but i vote for/against this video and not for/against Dimash or the songs:
because each of the two songs had a long commercial break in the middle, it's rather a dislike from me.
He is from Kasakhstan ,an ex soviet republic so singing in russian language is somewhat normal.

Dimash's performance of SOS wasn't "almost" perfect, it was as perfect as it can get. His last name is PERFECTION.
Yeah, you should definitely keep watching the rest of his Singer 2017 performances as well as his performance of Lionel Richie's "Hello" on Singer 2018. He does several genres including opera, pop, rock, funk, and folk, and his first two performances (SOS and Opera 2) are his most operatic ones. However, he always keeps his semi-operatic tone and strong vibrato, which is something unique.

It's confusing why he would point out that he did not particularly enjoy either song.... it's not the point..... the point is what Dimash actually did - especially in SOS in Insanely difficult & in Opera 2 he Started higher than Vitas finished! He failed to explain Any of the technical aspects of D's larynx placement, thickening or thinning of vocal chords - extremely weak reaction

It's more showbusiness than a competition. Subtle pitch correction is a thing, robotic sounding autotune is nearly 20 years old tech. Elite singer + subtle pitch correction for the rare times it's needed = perfect performance the world will buzz about
Showbusiness is showbusiness, but Dimash's voice don't need any emprovements etc. There are many records on talkshows, where he sings without microphones at all. Many microphones works bad with he's voice. (sorry for my bad english, i'm russian).
I don't doubt his ability, no amount of pitch correction will ever make anyone sound like that, he's clearly a rarely talented singer. It's not that pitch correction means that if there is pitch correction in a performance, the performer has no talent. These days the pitch correction tech is on a much higher level than the average person is aware of, and when it is subtly used on an already great performance, it can make it perfect. Top vocalists like him rarely make mistakes, but when they do and they have some technical help during the toughest parts of the performance, it smoothens out even the rare mistakes and you end up with something that is almost flawless. I suggest looking into it and being more open to it, the way it is these days, it's not a shameful thing that indicates no talent, it is a thin layer of enhancement that only works well if you already sing well. Your english is fine btw, no worries.
Thank you! But my english is bad mainly :) But as we know, Dimash sings WITHOUT microphones better than with it. Many people, who watched he's performance in Gakku, talks he sings this song without microphones better. In the same time, you are right, modern electronic is very helpful for great singers to correcting a little blemishes.

Hi Adam, excellent, Brilliant reaction ...always good to see coaches react to Dimash. Please, please follow his journey through singer 2017 he never failed to amaze as the competition went on. As others have said he was the unknown wildcard in the show and then he was invited back to Singer 2018 as the special guest on this years end of series gala show and sang "Hello" his English having improved ten fold. On the 24th May (his birthday) he released his first single and video in English titled "Screaming" ... all well worth a look!!! 👌👌😊

Zhanat Rakhimova он педагог по вокалу. У него было много запросов на реакцию У Ди хороший легкий тон, он легко берет высокие ноты. Он не ожидал такого. Ди использ открытые звуки ( там идет вокальная терминология). В целом, Димаш - изумительный певец.
