  • The Wells Beach Maine January 13 2024 storm brought some of the worst devestation our generation has ever seen on Wells Beach or more specifically Crescent beach which can be found off of Webhannet Drive. The tide was up over 12 feet and the on short winds were strong. As a result, the beaches in Wells saw very high surf with waves that slammed into sea walls and did tremendous damage to many homes. This video shows footage of the storm at it's peak and the majority of the video is on the aftermath. The focus was on the destruction along Webhannet Drive Wells Maine in the Fisherman's cove and Crescent Beach area. The 01-13-2024 Storm Wells Maine along Webhannet Drive Wells Maine is some of the worst flooding the town of Wells Maine has ever seen.

    I grew up in Osterville. A giant sea wall with humungous rocks is all along the water like on a jetty. I have never seen the sea wall fail. They also put jetties along the shoreline. Not only is it pretty, but it is super functional. I'm not sure why the government doesn't let people build it like that anymore. Must be too effective.

    • @livinginsouthernmaine
      @livinginsouthernmaine  5 месяцев назад +1

      I totally agree with you. Big rocks never move in my observations. Seems silly that the DEP won't allow people to add them. Thanks for commenting.

    • @carlfaitware8099
      @carlfaitware8099 3 месяца назад

      All those rocks do is move the erosion somewhere else. But the billionaires who occupy seafront Osterville homes can do whatever they want. The rules don't apply to them, and they really don't care if their actions are detrimental to the environment or other people. I guess that's their twisted, sociopathic interpretation of capitalism.

      It’s like Florida. The old insurance was fine. Everything will transition. Once a storm comes, things change. More growth (which maine has experienced and is experiencing) - it never has been government based insurance as far as I know.
      Everything is changing everywhere with Mother Nature and the increase of building and movement of people.

      Ha ha ha, few feel bad for the filthy rich when it comes to their wallets. We don't however want to see anyone get hurt.

    Yea. If anyone is looking for a house by the seacoast while the tidal waters keep rising and getting worse.... Yea those house values arent going to mean anything when your house is labeled condemned due to all the water damage. Not to mention alot of insurance companies will payout for flood damage unless you have flood insurance. Youre going to go bankrupt trying to fix one of those houses.

      It's a tough decision for some people on whether or not to fix up the property, tear it down or just sell it. Price do seem to keep going up. I guess that is why some call it 'disposable' income.
