Yeah you get it! Like a real old school neighborhoods, town ordinances....the use of the word and concept of "a development" tells all. Not good! I have friends that refer to their area as a development. How impersonal! Don't buy in one.

Sounds good to me after vacationing in ME for 50 years while owning property there too. Over NYC by now and can't afford any other near ocean life in the rest of New England. Winters will also be more like they were in the 1960's in NYC due to you know what. Real Estate has doubled since 2020 so that's is a problem I will have to grapple with.

All the cons you illustrate here are identical to what is experienced on Cape Cod and the Islands. The wealthy come here buy ip all the housing and say they love the lifestyle here but they want to bring there off island, suburb and urban ways with them. They want the beauty here abd the quiet etc but with the suburban and urban conveniences. This has totally changed the beautiful way of life and life living on the island from the gem it was to just another crowded traffic clogged suburbsn existsnce.

This reminds when I bought 5 acres in Ocala a lifetime ago; it was very cheap. Instead of talking to the neighbors, I rode my Harley to the local bar and paid for a few rounds 😂😂😂. At the end of the night, I made a few friends and learned a ton of information that informed my decision to buy the property. After a couple of years, I sold it, but I still go by to the bar from time to time. I made good friends. Thanks for the information, stay safe.

I've lived in Maine full time and seasonally over the last 25 years. Mainers aren't the friendliest bunch overall and as they tell you if you're "from away" you'll never be a Mainer. Additionally Maine in winter is my favorite time due to ease of movement and no tourists. By far one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.

I believe you're talking about the virtual pools that come out in May during May the rainy season that where these pools format for wildlife and you can't build nowhere near them or cover them

Left a small town in Connecticut in 1980, moved to a small town in Maine. The changes have been sad to say the least. I knew Maine was going to change but it looks like mass, CT, and New York came here, changed it and now it’s different, homeless veterans, new free housing for new arrivals, no relief for property taxes for seniors and 100% disabled veterans. But this is who we’ve become. But I’m not moving just yet, nor anytime soon. It’s still Maine, just different.

Everything you say is correct. I live in midcoast Maine. It’s very pretty, but winters are brutal and long. Shopping is almost nonexistent. But I hate shopping, so I don’t care. But if you like shopping, don’t come to Maine. I love the slow pace of life, this is essential for me. I hate winter, but it’s better than the problems in places like Florida.

The granite is a bigger impact. Blasting and jack hammering is a fortune not to mention a septic system may be an issue.

You left out one thing. Southern Maine (mostly Urban Areas) is full of Leftist Democrats, while Central / Northern Maine is where the normal, hardworking, everyday Americans live.

lol frustration of traffic and then panning to ogunquit is spot on. Feel like that intersection is the sole reason for traffic from Wells to the border of Kittery in the summer. Insightful video 👍
