I grew up in Scarborough. I haven't lived in Maine for 14 years but dearly miss it. Seeing the damage is truly heartbreaking

We need to stop rebuilding the houses & start letting the dunes grow back. This is bad, but it gets gets worse every year.

Gosh! Who could have predicted that building right on the ocean beach could result in wave damage?

      I predicted it😆

Frank, the houses you see in Camp Ellis as ocean front were once three or four streets from the ocean when built

Not far enough apparently. Three or four streets from the ocean IS oceanfront. @@laryco

It’s the ocean🤷‍♀️. I’m in Montana, the wealthy live in the mountains surrounded by trees. Beautiful until there is a forest fire.

Yep, this is why flood insurance for beach houses should be abolished. These people knew the risks when building these houses on the shorelines.

I will never understand why people think it's a good idea to live just a few feet from the ocean.

Same reason people live in seismically active areas like Los Angeles: sure you’re risking life health and property, but you have a job.

Just the sea reclaiming it's beach. People who live by the sea, are at the mercy of the sea.

You got deadly hurricanes in the south, earthquakes in California, tornados in the Midwest, flooding on the east coast, people listen to me it’s time to move to Syracuse ny the only weather we have is cloudy, partly cloudy, or rain😅

This is what happens when you build your house on the ocean like an idiot compared to what I'm used to during hurricane responses this is absolutely nothing

There should be no structures along any coastline to allow access to the public. And those polluting the ocean should pay for the cleanup.

Give it a rest with the climate change bs. That had nothing to do with this; don't you pay attention to the weather? A cold front sweeped the US and Maine got sacked by wind pressure.
