Look at my auntie Whitney. She said it best, *you can sing Yankee Doodle Dandy and wear it out*. If you can sing, you can sing. I love these 80's videos.
@YK Jay "Aunty" is considered a term of endearment. Some refer to someone who is beloved and older or as "aunty." Me , personally I don't care for it because it may offend some because ppl at times use it as an insult: ("You look like an aunty."),but it often comes from a place of love, like with the previous commenter .
Too many jealous people in the industry; actually the music industry’s bosses the rivals of har record were targeting har & bringing har down! I.e Tony motora!
@@kennyknight07 Her brother has admitted on Oprah that he was the one who gave her drugs (not Bobby as many believe). Mottola might have wanted to take her down because she wasn't on Columbia Records like Mariah, Celine, Gloria, Barbra, and others, but if Whitney was around and her voice was not affected, she'd be successful no matter what.
I used to be so scared of this jingle when I was in pre school and early elementary school up until grade 2 I'm probably the only on who was scared of this jingle and it made me scream and cry, Whitney has a great singing voice it's too bad she's gone r.i.p Whitney Huston.
Wow this was the same year I was born! Looks like really fun and happy times..? If only Whitney had stuck to selling coke rather than using it she might still sound this great too. Ah well, that's what youtube is great for, reminiscing :-)
I always wondered why they didn't put her on "Miami Vice." Crocket and Tubs could have protected her from an insanely obsessed Calderone. That would have been epic.
I know nobody will believe this but the model at :37 was a freshman while I was a senior in High School. She had a huge crush on me and would wear my jersey number she had made up on a T-shirt. She was the typical dorky girl, big glasses, braces, skinny, no proportion to her body at all. We were good friends all through my senior year. Soon after she graduated she called told me she was in this commercial. If I could have seen into the future.
0:56 the resonance on that f#5 note is colossal.
This should be re-titled Whitney slaying ur faves whole career in just a Diet Coke commercial

Don't like diet coke, but after hearing her SANG like that I must go out and buy one
That's exactly why they had her do the commercial. More sales.
Coke taste nothing like it use to
Her voice was perfect for 80s commercials
She could have made ABC's a hit back in the 80's. A great voice and a huge talent gone way too soon!

That commercial has been a favorite of mine since 1986!
Damn 80s commercials were something else. They loved using that always sunny and dusky look.

Turns out diet coke or anything that says diet is not good for you. Leads to memory loss and more issues. But still love the song ❤❤
@indagatore1986 It was the 80's, random shit happened like that elephant all the time and nobody questioned it because it was normal for us.
@PeaceForever333 yeah, She's Whitney man

What most people don’t know is that the song was written by the Alessi Brothers (famous for their 70s hit song Oh Lori)

Why didnt She didnt drink the diet coke
She has been doing too much that diet coke since... :D
In 1989
Nope. This was 1986. She wore this hair for the '86 American Music Awards and Grammy's (straightened). Her late 80's wigs were nothing like this.
It was 86.
o the irony, lived on coke(money) and died on coke
omg lol rude comment
Make's An Ad For Pepsi
Spends All Money On Coke.
The irony...
Crack is whack
Truth
She was a lot better then
Also theres a lot of singers who are druggies probably 80%
It's "diet coke" not "coke diet", Whitney!
What? Too soon?
Cocaine's a hell of a drug...
Funny
Too bad she snorted Coke instead of drinking it. R.I.P.
