This movie was a straight up 10. Honestly felt like I was seeing real magic while watching it, it's so full of love and energy and I'm so thankful to Damien Chazelle for making it happen!
Andrew Smith Compared to Singin In The Rain or West Side Story? No. Within the context of the film which wanted the singing and dancing to feel real, pedestrian and accessible? Yes.
Breaking Banter Who would want the singing & dancing in a musical film to be pedestrian?! I know several people who've watched La La Land & hate it. They said that the film is boring, especially in the middle. They said that Gosling's character is arrogant & unlikeable and that Stone's character has no personality.
Andrew Smith The director wanted it that way? Because it's supposed to be about real people? That's fine, I can't argue with people that hate it, because that's up to them. But this is a great, fully realised vision that's a very exciting slice of cinema.

Hello Chiara, I just saw La La Land, I have a question for you or & anyone in You Tube Land? I loved the movie!, but it seemed like when I saw it in the theater, it was shown in soft focus, how was the focus where you saw it? Any thoughts from you, or other movie buffs would be a big help to me!, David, a classic movie buff for over 50 years from Calif.
The audio you hear is not Gosling's playing, it's pianist Randy Kerber. The fast runs and complicated stuff is easy to tell that he's just miming the piano.
I watched it about 5 times or more. It's my favorite since 2016, and will. Jazz soundtracks, Ryan's real piano playing, Emma's voice, their different dreams, dances... Oh my God... I think I'm in love with this movie. Pure love...
I saw a free screening of it already. The movie will inspire a new generation of actors. I know I should have pursued my dream of acting, but I did not. I want to see it again.
At the time I had to make the decision of whether I was gonna stay in New York City, or move out to Vegas to with my folks. This was after High School in the early 1990's. I realized I should stayed in New York with my idiot sister and husband. This is the one decision I truly regret about my own life.
felt the same. However I'm not inspired as an actor. More as cinematographer or director! The film is so beautifully done! I've seen it 3 times in 2 weeks! I was never sure wether to pursue my dream or not. But this took it to a whole next level! I'm going for it!
I saw a free screening of it last week and the trailers do even touch the whole ice berg. This movie is that good. It will win at least best picture and director. I want to see it again,
The audio is not Gosling's playing, but that of jazz pianist Randy Kerber. During the fast runs and complicated passages, it's easy to tell that Gosling is just miming the piano playing.
I had the pleasure to see this movie at the Denver Film Festival and it was a masterpiece of musical movies. Loved it so much, happy to see the embodiment of golden-age cinema in this movie.
Christa Keen I'm a huge film nerd and I'm a teen and I loved it, if the teen appreciates good movies then it is definitely good to go watch. Unless they absolutely hate musicals or music altogether.
All time favorite film. I cry every time I watch it, not because of the beautifully crafted ending, but because I know I'll never find another movie as amazing as this one. It's perfect.
I watched this movie at theater with my girlfriend in our anniversary and I'll never forget this movie and the epilogue scene. I just cried for the entire scene because I'm a musician too and I was unemployed for 5 weeks back then and I couldn't stop feeling an useless trash bag... After the movie we went to a rock bar and there was a jazz band playing and that was one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had in my life. We're together for 9 years now and I know that, when we'll have like 30 years together I'll still play city of stars to her and we'll remember that night. Thank you for this incredible movie and remember: loves aways finds you in the end. Also sorry for the bad English, I'm a Brazilian btw. Cheers :)
I've here looking forward to this movie for quite a while. La La Land seems like a beautiful and refreshing new work of cinema. Plus, I love Fred & Ginger movies
It is. It is vintage and classic combined with modernism. Damien really does capture the whole essence of what movie making was like back in the 30's, 40's and 50's Hollywood. I saw a free screening of it already.
I never thought he actually learned to play piano for the role. I just figured he was pressing down on soundless keys and the playing was added in post production. I was even saying to myself that they did a good job at making it look real. To know that it actually was...that is next level. Respect.
Just saw it tonight and the world is really in for a treat. The soundtrack is impeccable! Also, I hope you guys like the pool flip! I only did it 33 times :D
Sure was! Here is some extra stuff on my stunt if you would like to check it out: m.ocregister.com/articles/white-739410-kubr-stunt.html www.hollywoodreporter.com/video/la-la-land-behind-scenes-party-scene-975497
Watched this masterpiece in cinema today for the third time (local rerun). This movie is a pure magic and one of my favorite movies ever. Everything is so good - story, music, cinematography, choreography, chemistry between actors...
I saw this on December 7th, 2 days before release at a screening. I fell totally in love with the movie. It has got to win the Oscar for best picture this year 2016. I don't see anything getting remotely close. The acting, the chemistry, a modern day musical that's colorful, bright, engaging, musically engineered to rapture your senses with a bittersweet and satisfying ending. Ryan and Emma steal every single scene they are in. I'm a man that loves superhero movies and scifi...and teared up a good 3 to 4 times during this movie, and admit without shame, I want to go back to the world of La La Land. I will purchase tickets to see this several times and buy it when it's available for home entertainment release, especially if it's on 4K Blu-Ray. Go see this.
I really wish I could, but I'm not in the US, and I have to wait until January for the film to be released, so yeah...might as well continue watching the trailers for the songs, I guess... :(
Its 3 years from its release and I've watched the movie for almost 30 times, the Dreamers trailer 400 times, the audition video 200 times and listened to Someone In The Crowd and Another Day Of Sun probably a million times and both of them would remain forever in my playlist...
I saw this film at London Film Festival this year and it's easily my film of the year. It's just perfect in everyway possible. The acting, the choreography, the music, the cinematograpy, the story, just everything about it! Just thinking back to it is making me feel so happy cause that's what it is! A genuine, feel good film! (Made me cry a little though, just saying) I can't wait to see it again when it comes out in January! Damien Chazelle has done it again guys, and it's got Best Picture written all over it!
I loved this movie and I still rewatch it till this day!! Absolute love has such deep meaning on how wrong person wrong time could affect you in such ways
Wow! KUDOS to Ryan for actually learning to play the piano when they required him to do so! I'm excited for this film to hit the theatres in the Philippines!!!
I love that the Ryan & Emma's voices and dancing & Ryan's piano were real - and good - even though they weren't the Fred Astair and Ginger Rogers, their chemistry is so authentic. First time I saw them together in Crazy Stupid Love, I wanted to see them together over again. Glad to know I am not alone on that one!!!
Honestly, i feel like everyone's forgotten that Ryan Gosling was in a band (called Dead Man's Bones) where he played PIANO, Guitar, and Sang. That was in like 8 years before this movie. Why has no one realised this.
I watched it today. Amazing movie, amazing cast, amazing music... You'll laugh, you'll enjoy, you'll fall in love, you'll sing, you'll dance and you'll cry...
This film has stolen my heart, it is a timeless classic and a joy to watch. I have seen it three times and I intend to see it again next week. It is a masterpiece.
Both Damien Chazelle movies have all these supporting characters like Keith, the sisters, Tanner, Conelly, and more, but they all serve one purpose: to further the plot and character development of both leads. I like em all but I couldn’t care much about them because they aren’t made to be focused on or being a great supporting actor/actress, just made to continue the plot of just the two main characters. Honestly, they made me focus more on the leads than ever and they are perfect
I know the Oscar’s aren’t what they used to be and that Moonlight is a great film, but in the years since this movie has become a phenomenon. I’ve been to sold out outdoor sing-a-long screenings, bought the Mia & Sebastian Funko and introduced it to friends and rewatched it and sung a long with them so many times. Aswell as singing a long to the soundtrack and rewatching scenes on RUclips over and over. Can anyone say that about Moonlight or name more than one person in it? La La Land and Damian were robbed.
It does :) I went into the movie theater to watch this today feeling very melancholy, and came out over the top impressed. I'm about to purchase the soundtrack to boot. Go see it!!
It's the kind of movie that you want to own every part of, from soundtrack to DVD to checking out the locations in person. I for one can't wait to see it again.
In my opinion, La La Land deserved to win all the 14 Oscars® it was nominated for. It is my personal favourite motion picture of 2016 ― and of this decade ― by far.
Already watched this dynamite movie 7 times and will watch it over and over and over again and never get tired of it. R-Y-A-N!! He's a drug of the best kind. 🎉💋💞💜🌹🍬🍭🌺🌷🌸
SO excited to see this movie! Mandy Moore is a choreography genius! So happy to see that Sharna Burgess was the one Mandy called in to help teach them ballroom.
This movie is going to positively be the death of me...So much beauty! Damien Chazelle is one to watch he's on his way to be one of the next great filmmakers...
The movie, in it's every bit feels like a beautiful painting in terms of color palette (the best ever!), dialouges, acting ❤... A feeling of liveliness is the heart of this movie La la land❤
Another reason for the great chemistry and in particular, intensity between Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling is that in real life, they're both Scorpios, born in November within 1 week of each other, month and day-wise (Emma is 28; Ryan, 36)! I think that's neat. What a terrific movie and incredible achievement for all cast and crew involved! As a professional pianist, and admirer and performer of the classic Great American Songbook standards of 70-90 years ago during the Golden Age of Music, this type of cinema appeals to me all the more.
This movie was a straight up 10. Honestly felt like I was seeing real magic while watching it, it's so full of love and energy and I'm so thankful to Damien Chazelle for making it happen!
Would you give Gosling & Stone 10 out of 10 for their singing and dancing?
Andrew Smith Compared to Singin In The Rain or West Side Story? No. Within the context of the film which wanted the singing and dancing to feel real, pedestrian and accessible? Yes.
Breaking Banter Who would want the singing & dancing in a musical film to be pedestrian?!

Moonlight was better
Noooo magi wait 4 years and it’ll be on spotify
holy moly...don't tell me he really did that whole piano playing because....dude.
wow.
baileythebunny Yeah I know right. Commitment.
Hello Chiara, I just saw La La Land, I have a question for you or & anyone in
You Tube Land? I loved the movie!, but it seemed like when I saw it in the theater, it was shown in soft focus, how was the focus where you saw it?
Any thoughts from you, or other movie buffs would be a big help to me!,
David, a classic movie buff for over 50 years from Calif.
Disneyfan1955: IIRC, only bits of the ending were in soft focus. The majority of the movie was not.
i wondered about that-they really had long takes on him playing, so i knew i was him playing
The audio you hear is not Gosling's playing, it's pianist Randy Kerber. The fast runs and complicated stuff is easy to tell that he's just miming the piano.
Learning those piano skills in 3 months must have been stressful as shit for someone who never learned piano before.
UnbelievabIeMontages he's played before though, he was in the band, Dead Man's Bones and he played piano for all his songs
yeah he has experience playing piano it was to learn to play jazz music at an ëxpert level"that he had to do so not as impressive lol.
It would be near impossible for someone to learn to play like that in 3 months with no experience. Thankfully he played before, it was amazing.
No way in hell would anyone be able to achieve that level in 3 months, no matter how talented - he'd played before.
Gosling and Stone should have been taught how to sing and dance properly.
City of Stars, are you shining just for me?
Not u ... him only him
My all-time favorite movie. I can't even think about it without getting a bit emotional.
Mark Midmark could have wrote this comment myself
I watched it about 5 times or more. It's my favorite since 2016, and will. Jazz soundtracks, Ryan's real piano playing, Emma's voice, their different dreams, dances... Oh my God... I think I'm in love with this movie. Pure love...
One of the best movies if not my personal favorite movie of all time
I just can't stop smiling while watching this. I am ready to be fascinated by La La Land
Imcrying wtf
I hope we hear Simmons say "NOT MY FUCKING TEMPO!"
epic!
i think he did say something like that in the film as a matter of fact!

I saw a free screening of it already. The movie will inspire a new generation of actors. I know I should have pursued my dream of acting, but I did not. I want to see it again.

Emma Stone is so beautiful. This movie just highlights how exceptionally talented, charming, and striking she is
Holy hell I can't wait any longer for this movie.

I know! I saw it at TIFF and I am dying to see it another handful of times when it comes out in a few weeks! I CAN NOT EVEN WAIT!!!!!
+LVScooter1 Yay !!!!
LVScooter1 I'll be ready for that
WAIT. Your telling me Ryan learned how to play piano like that in 3 MONTHS?! He has to be an alien that's INSANE!!
The audio is not Gosling's playing, but that of jazz pianist Randy Kerber. During the fast runs and complicated passages, it's easy to tell that Gosling is just miming the piano playing.
I'm pretty sure Ryan gosling could already play piano
TRUE LMAO. I learned the waltz in the piano for like 9 months 😭
this movie deserves an oscar already..
What for? It deserves Razzies.
Well it did win best picture.. for 10 mins
lollyloveswatching BbHahahahahahhahaa
It's been a long time I felt this feeling watching a movie...... tearing up from this overwhelming emotion

LVScooter1 Cool. I have developed a soft spot for the classics since middle school. My favorite Fred & Ginger movies are Top Hat and Shall We Dance.
***** I'm still seeing this no matter what
don't listen to Giselle5253, it's a terrific film. it's 2 hours long which isn't that long for a movie and the score is fantastic.
David Heilig I have no intention of listening to her.
I never thought he actually learned to play piano for the role. I just figured he was pressing down on soundless keys and the playing was added in post production. Watched this masterpiece in cinema today for the third time (local rerun). This movie is a pure magic and one of my favorite movies ever. Everything is so good - story, music, cinematography, choreography, chemistry between actors...
This makes me wanna see it even more, thanks Lionsgate!
I recently saw this movie again and I can’t stop listening to the music ...
What a wonderful movie with extraordinary musical pieces!
Just came out of the theater. This is the best movie of this year.
that movie touched my heart in a way that any movie has done until now. The way of rewriting and casting an ''old story of love'' is flawless
*Who Doesn't love Ryan Goselin!* 👍😍
ikr
tend to look for his movies-he always turns up
Gosling*
I haven't been this excited for a musical movie since les mis guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bailey Bieganek Yea... but Les Mis was a disappointment...
Ariel Lim Offical Channel well...not really. I love it.

WOW! The production looks grand and visually arresting :D
If only they release this sooner...
I know. Try to see if you can see a free screening of it in your city. I did last week here in Vegas. I would pay $20 or more to see it.
I really wish I could, but I'm not in the US, and I have to wait until January for the film to be released, so yeah...might as well continue watching the trailers for the songs, I guess... :(
+LVScooter1 Oh to be American....
+uhungma Same man, same
this is one of those movies that i wish i had seen in theatre.
That makes two of us
emma stone beyond gorgeous, and her acting?..no words. just watched this movie.
I will never get tired of this movie and its soundtrack. Never 💞
This movie should be the pinnacle of movie making for all inspiring movie director/ writer. what a truly beautiful piece of work.

Simon Luedtke I thought I am the only one!

Brilliant!! I hope we get more films like this coming along. We need to feel uplifted in this very sad times.
Your comment aged really well in some ways
Damian Chazelle se consolidó como excelente director en tan solo su segunda película... BRILLANTE!!!!!!
Straight up perfection, this movie is.
La La Land. This piece of art is so so special to me. I’m obsessed with it💛
Wow! KUDOS to Ryan for actually learning to play the piano when they required him to do so! I'm excited for this film to hit the theatres in the Philippines!!!
Take my money, please...take it!!
what a beautiful cast, can't wait to see this!♡
Nobody thinks that Damien Chazelle looks good af?
I am crying out of excitement for this movie! Can't wait to see it!
That was my motivation to see La La Land too!
My favourite movie of the last 20 years. An utter classic in every shape or form.
How do they make those scenes look so BEAUTIFUL?
it worths the noise, what a marvelous movie, flawless, a film for all dreamers around the world
please, end my suffering, LET ME SEE THIS MOVIE.
Just saw it. No matter what your expectations, you won't be disappointed.
absolutely. this is the most excited i've ever been for a film, and I was still blown away
Thomas Tang I watched it yesterday it's amazing😍
Help, im seriously addicted and in love with this movie. It's maddening.
Watched this movie a hundred times...love it every time!
This movie made me fall in love again! Congratulations on making something other than a "Hollywood ending" believable.
Ryan Gosling is so annoying. Women already love him, then he just adds playing piano and dancing to his resume for the hell of it. Not cool bro...
LOL
Plus he's popular and have a lot of money
And have a calming voice
Give another man a chance
you look dumb
xD
He is amazing. Real man.
Masterpiece.. Those people hate this movie, I think they really didn't understand the Feel and Emotion of this movie. 😍
I just saw this movie today an a special screening in a Portland. It's a beautiful film, best film I've seen this year by far. It's a masterpiece.
One of the Greatest Movies of All Time!
I guess I'll have to watch a bunch of old school movie musicals to hold me over until the release date.
I just watched this movie and I want to rewatch it again. Damn it's so good.

I think La La Land has taken musicals to a new level. Great story about 'if only I'd followed my dream from the start I could have had everything'.
for me this film is absolutely perfect😭 my love for it is undescribable
The piccolo in the music , beautiful.
Saw it over a week ago and I'm still not over it
LeslieXvideo can i get the link plz
omg got to go to an early screening in SF...so amazing and beautifully done
God I hope this is good and it brings back real talent.
It does :) I went into the movie theater to watch this today feeling very melancholy, and came out over the top impressed. I'm about to purchase the soundtrack to boot. Go see it!!
Thanks, Kurt.

SO excited to see this movie! Mandy Moore is a choreography genius! So happy to see that Sharna Burgess was the one Mandy called in to help teach them ballroom.
Happy part they found thier dreams, sad part they didnot unite, happy part they are friends in real and its just a movie
I saw the film, immediately bought the soundtrack right after and I wanna go see it again asap
EXCELLENT behind-the-scenes. Very well made. It's rare. Thank you Lionsgate!
Saw it last night.....it is pure genius! Deserves all the attention it's getting, any haters, just don't get it. It's magic! :)
This was the best movie of 2016.... and will probably be the best of 2017 as well
i just saw this movie and it was really really amazing. from the cinematography, music, acting, everything! love every bit of it!

Beautiful movie. Well done. Bravo!!
Best movie of 2016 !
This movie is going to positively be the death of me...So much beauty! Damien Chazelle is one to watch he's on his way to be one of the next great filmmakers...
its a colourful masterpiece.
I don't think I've ever seen a more perfect movie in my life
The movie, in it's every bit feels like a beautiful painting in terms of color palette (the best ever!), dialouges, acting ❤...
A feeling of liveliness is the heart of this movie
La la land❤
Another reason for the great chemistry and in particular, intensity between Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling is that in real life, they're both Scorpios, born in November within 1 week of each other, month and day-wise (Emma is 28; Ryan, 36)! I think that's neat. What a terrific movie and incredible achievement for all cast and crew involved! As a professional pianist, and admirer and performer of the classic Great American Songbook standards of 70-90 years ago during the Golden Age of Music, this type of cinema appeals to me all the more.
Just watched the movie, and it's great beyond words! I want a DVD of behind the scenes!!!!
Absolutely awesome!!!!!!Emma is gorgeous!!!!!The writer was great for writing this script!!love this movie so so so much!!!!!!!!!
I cannot contain my excitement for this movie
