Jon (the tour guide) is one of the nicest guys you'd meet and is super knowledgeable about Bentley. He's not just talking to Jodie, he's trying to give all the viewers an insight into our great company 😉
Really really wonderful Jodie. I really loved the genuine passion and pride the gentleman who showed you around has for Bentley and the processes of manufacturing. No corporate drone trotting out a script based tour but real enthusiasm and passion for his job. My late uncle owned Rolls Royce’s and I went on a tour of the factory in Crewe back in the late seventies with him and this is just like that but with 21st technology added. It’s the people that really add the value to cars like this. When you sit in one and understand the passion and dedication with which it was made it really makes a difference to how the car feels I think, romantic viewpoint? Well, I have always been an old romantic so yes, blame it on my ancestor, Robert Browning, I like to think a bit of him carried down the line and came out in me! :) My favourite colour scheme for a Bentley, Barnato green paint with cricket ball red interior cross stitched in dark green thread with their new open pore walnut veneer and engine turned tunnel where the gear shift is!
@@KiddinaSweetShop thanks Jodie. He started with a Silver Cloud III in shell grey with a deep blue leather interior ( I remember all the colours of his cars and the Rolls ones by name!) then he had a series one Corniche in Silver Chalice with St James red interior and his last was a series II Shadow in Willow Gold with biscuit interior and the optional large front headrests. In the Seventies through to the late eighties when he passed he also kept a 1930’s Lagonda drophead that we used to do rallies on, a Bug Eyed Sprite and his other big Auto passion, a succession of Saabs, 99 GLE then one of the first 99 Turbo’s in the UK in the classic black with red interior followed by a 900 and 9000 Turbos. He taught me to drive in the GLE, Lagonda and Sprite and I took my advanced drivers test in the 900 Turbo. Had so much fun back then with him and the cars. He had a huge old wooden barn in which he kept his cars and many a weekend in the winter months would find us stripping down various bits of the Lagonda or Sprite. Interestingly though we lived in Devon all his Rolls came from Jack Barclay in London and I always got a buzz when I looked and the Jack Barclay kick plates when I opened the doors, it’s the little things eh!
Did the tour July 2019 prior to getting my new Conti GT, a truly eye opening experience, the fact that these are still hand made and seeing the amount of work that goes into it, is what makes these cars so special.
I started the video not sure what to make of the Bentley ambassador - but he's totally won me over. Someone that really knows his stuff and genuinely buys into the brand. Well done, sir! A great eposode.
That gives a very different perspective, the details of components are amazing. I do really like the fact the guy showing you around actually knows most of his colleagues by name and started him self on the floor (it´s to common today that the office is totally disconnected from the staff that does the real work), he was also really knowledgeable about all corners of the cars - much like Christian Von Koenigsegg, so maybe next tour will be in Angelholm, Sweden ?
What a fascinating tour. I could easily have watched another hour of this and not been bored in the least. I’m 63 and have never been able to afford one of these lovely vehicles but have always admired them from a far. They are truly a masterpiece and a marriage of artistic beauty and technology. Great to be able to watch behind the scenes.
Who would have ever thought that one of the best and well known supermodels will pitch up at one of the worlds most luxurious car manufacturers with shorts minimum “warpaint” (make-up)? That is what I like about you, Jodie. You can also see the real appreciation and interest on your face, one can not fake it. Love the content.
Amazing attention to the most minute detail. Makes your appreciate the term hand built and the quality Bentley demand. Also you understand why the cost of these vehicles is so high. Amazing insight and a cracking watch. Thank you Jodie and Bentley! 🙏🏼
Watching all those highly skilled workers who obviously have a real love and passion for the Bentley brand is beautiful to see. Great video again Jodie.
What you didn’t see on your tour is the way that the staff are treated. I suppose they wouldn’t have told you about how nearly 400 agency staff (most with over 3 years service and myself with 4.5 years service) were all laid off during Covid and staff with minimal service were kept on and retrained on processes which laid off staff with higher service knew how to do and were told they were laid off because these jobs were already covered.. a lot of staff that got laid off got brought back but their service wiped back to 0. This is so that they don’t have to hand out permanent contracts to people. They used the pandemic as a excuse to get around handing out upcoming contract conversions basically and they somehow pulled it off. The contract conversions that were handed out before I was laid off, I missed out on one by 4 weeks of service. Watching this video brings back so many good memories, I honestly loved working there and it’s a proper trip down memory lane for me but everything happens for a reason and I’ve now moved on I’m in earning over double than what I was there so it’s a happy ending to what was a horrible thing to go through 🙂
I was fortunate to have a tour of this production and it is truly amazing. For me, the key highlights were the wood department and leather upholstery department … true craftsmanship as is the whole car
Well that was a treat for you and we were very fortunate to share your visit . When you inspect the exterior look at it from at least a metre away , you'll see a flaw much easier and then you can get close up to confirm the fault . I have no doubt that you are the perfect perfectionist !! Thanks Jodie .
Amazing video Jodie. I forget your tour guide’s name (was it John?) - he toured me around and was amazing. When we went to the dept. where they stitch the leather onto the steering wheels the worker there asked us how we thought they placed the stitches an equal distance apart. We all thought there’d be some fancy measuring tool, but instead the guy pulled a bog standard table fork out of his top pocket and pressed it into the leather to give 5 equally spaced dimples to puncture!
Great to see what process is done to make a car, especially luxurious cars. I used to watch a programme on television called Mega Factories and Bentley was on it on one episode and makes you realise just how much work goes into quality rather than quantity. I think I'd like to do the inspection job too as I'm a bit OCD with things like that lol. Another great video with great content. Keep them coming Jodie, can't wait to see the next one.
A superb video and what a fabulous insight into the great craftsmanship within Bentley. I love the fact that everyone was introduced as my “friend and colleague” Good to see this level of respect within the workplace👍👍
The combination of German quality and British craftsmanship. Really good to go round with an extremely good guide and a knowledgeable petrol head like you Jodie. This just has to be one of your very best videos. 👍
Thank u so much for this tour and upload. Always love Brits, so gentle and positive and down to earth being very aware what's going ... the move to hybrid is pretty smart. And gosh the wood workshop ... blew my mind as living on a 62 year old wooden two master it's a pleasure to see these unique wood materials. Dont have enough words to appreciate your passion and perfection. The cherry on the cake to let certify Jodie a car in its final stage knowing that she cant find any bigger weak spot.
Not really my style of vehicle, and I’ll probably never be able to afford one, but I think the world is a better place for having crafts people building vehicles and other things with skilled hands and taking pride in their work. Thank you Jodie. Once again an excellent video.
I always knew that the Bentley brand was second to none but all the stats for the components, hides, veneer etc. is incredible! Absolutely brilliant video.
Absolutely eye opening the amount of detail that goes into every car. Awesome vid to see Jodie. I love watching how things are made. Just makes you appreciate the all the work being done. 👊👊👊👊👍👍👍👍👍👍
Must say; Jodie is a super friendly, realy good and enthousiast interviewer. Nice job! Also; the Bentley guy is one hell of charismatic and well spoken brand ambassador. Cool to hear that he once started in the trim department. Not a Bentley guy myself; but you got to love the craftmanship and level of detail that get into these cars. Impressive!

A tour and presentation of the only Bentley factory world wide is truly a special occasion. The marketing manager is a wonderful professional and ambassador for the storied brand. On the other hand, who turns up at the Bentley Plant for a VVIP presentation and tour in a hoodie and her daughter's jeans cut-offs ? Poor bird probably thought she was headed to Luton then Malaga for an experience of a lifetime.
