Nice video... I wanted to ask something.. I have 2 klark teknik KT-2A and 2 KT-1176 and I want to make an external effect through cubase.. In my connection do I need balanced or unbalanced cables?
Always, man. Look forward to your vids every time my brother. Hope I have the pleasure to meet you in person one of these days. Don't get to Manhattan too often anymore, but it would be awesome to check out your studio and shake your hand. I consider you a friend even though we haven't met in person, yet. You and Leland Sklar are some of the coolest cats around! This comes from a guy in WV, by the way... Toured quite a bit back in the day. We all have stories.
Thank you OG! ✌🏾That thing does have a learning curve but toying around with it, it does sound great. Hardware really keeps the integrity of your sound. Do you use converters for your hardware?
Kosmos 144 thanks for watching and I hope I shed some light on the topic. Keep with it, the unit is definitely worth it. With regards to converters, not currently using outboard converters. Before the pandemic hit I was planning a major upgrade to my workflow which included outboard conversion though. Thanks for your question and watching ✌🏾
@@WarrenHenry Definatley worth it!!!! Im happy to have hardware in my work flow. I have the KTP & 76. Im about to get that 2A. I want the dbx 160 but the after markets are way over priced. Thanks alot Warren this helped out alot.
So, in all honesty, I don’t know if I’d know what good mic technique is.... could you do a video on what that is, what it looks/sounds like. If I’m working with newer recording singers, what would/could I do our say to them to have better mic technique if I find I’m having to crank the compressor. Thanks! for this video.
Save your money and apply to more upscale compressors man, you won't regret it in the end. Check out a company called AudioScape or Stam Audio. They have 1176 and LA2A models that won't ever let you down, and you won't be left with a bad taste because you invested in a "cheapy unit" like these garbage Klark things.
Hi John, Basically the WA76 and the KT76 are the same. The differences are minor at most. For me, the compressor choice always comes down to genre. If I'm doing more quiet acoustic music I want something less aggressive like the KT2A or WA2A. For R&B or Gospel I'm reaching for a VCA based comp like the DBX 160, 166, 165A of 163X. Hope that helps
@@WarrenHenry thanks Warren ! Yes that definitely helps. I recently just got a dbx 266xs as my vca. It is awesome ! I have the pro vla 2 for my optical. Now looking for a 76 FET. If the KT 76 can hang with the big dogs I don’t see the need for any of the more expensive 76’s. What do you mainly like a 76 on , rock music? Rock drums ?
Save your money and get your compressors from AudioScape or Stam Audio. You won't be disappointed. These Klark things are GARBAGE. I don't know why they even make these things. If you're serious about having great compression on your music I would advise you to just save to buy QUALITY gear.
“Contain Dynamics.” 👌 💯
How do you compare the kt 2a to the wa 2a? I dont know what whats best to buy..? I want a compressor that has analog warmth and vocals
You can't go wrong with either. The KT2A is lower cost of the two but still great. Thanks for watching
This was very informative Warren I loved it. Did you ever receive that track i sent you called subversive material?

Awsome video Henry
Armando Garcia Hermano gracias por ver
That KT 76 is badd ass 👍
John Henningfield you ain’t lyin’😜 Thanks for watching 😄✌🏾
I love my kt76. It is much maligned but I think they’re all either snobs or don’t know how to use a comp.
Thanks for watching✌🏾
These compressors are junk. Good for 10 year old kids, but pure junk.

Hi thanks for watching when in doubt always balanced.
That's a great short version that gets right to the point! Especially the part about parallel compression.

Hi and thanks for watching and the GREAT video suggestion. You can most certainly look out for it in the future.
I love this guy! I’m deciding whether to get this or not. Cheers

i dont have a question i like it
Kt76 or kt2a. Which one to add? I already have 2 dbx160's and a Summit Audio DCL 200. For tracking and mixing mostly jazz related genres.
I’d go with the KT76 being that you already have Tube and VCA based compressors. Thanks for watching ✌🏽
