The Klark Teknik EQP-KT demo will give you the demonstration you need to learn more about the functions of this pro audio equipment.
The Klark Teknik EQP-KT is inspired by the world famous Pultec, the EQP-KT. The Pultec was used on some of the most well-known records. Ideally, you have the cash on hand and can find a working Pultec to invest.
The vintage models are without a doubt some of the most amazing pieces of equipment when it comes to sound improvement, but they are very rare and very expensive.
Enter the Klark EQP-KT review. Affordable, built around the same circuitry and easy to find! The question is can this “clone” deliver the same sound magic as the original circuitry did?
The Classic Tubes.
If you are just looking at the specs of this Pultec clone, than the conclusion would be that you would get the same mastering in the music studio from the clone that you would get from the original.
Klark choose the 12AX7 and 12AU7 tubes to get the warm sounds of the original, then they added a custom twist with the Midas transformers for input and output.
The combination does a nice job of delivering brilliant highs, low noise output, popping bass and more.
If you are strictly looking for an equalizer that performs amazing and that comes in at the right price point this is it. If you are looking for an equalizer that offers vintage sounds, this is it.
The classic tube design is a one that really delivers when it comes to the sound department.
Not Like Your Other Equalizers.
You do not need to be a pro-tools expert to notice right from the start that this equalizer is not like other music technology that you come across.
This has a 2-band design, that offers great flexibility in low shelving and offers a broad midrange bandwidth. The attenuate and boost controls are independent of each other which allows you to boost and attenuate at the same time.
You can cut at 5K and boost at 12KHZ, which lets you seamlessly add air without the increase of presence.
Here are some of the features:
• 1-channel, 2-band
• Class A circuitry
• Frequency selectors that are switchable
• 7 Frequency points
• Inductor based circuitry
• A/B comparison with bypass feature
• Transformer-balanced I/O on Neutrik XLR connectors
• Rugged chassis for 2U mounting
• Auto-ranging universal switch-mode power supply
It comes ready to get busy and deliver unmatched sounds. The simple style and durable chassis take the guess work right out of whether it is built to last and whether it can take the torment of constant use.
It can stand up to whatever you have to dish out and it seems like it will be around for a good long time.
Easy to Master.
One of the best things about this equalizer is that it is easy to master. The knobs are logically laid out and it is easy to manage for even the novice user. There is no learning curve really if you have even a little studio experience.
Overall.
The jury is in and the verdict is that this is a clone worth having on the rack. It delivers exactly as promised and there really is not much room for improvement.
The price is a tremendous savings, the sound is a great vintage sound and it is easy to use. What more could you want from an equalizer?
Watch the video demo and decide for yourself if this clone delivers on the Pultec name and history, I think it did and I think you will too. This equalizer can hold its own even when put up against some really high end gear.
Any questions? Any comments? Leave them in the comment space below, I love to hear from other producers and what they think about the music technology I review.

I really live this channel because sometimes if someone is trying to get into analog gear, this type of equipment are an awesome start. Hate to see some channels that compares them with thousands of dollars of equipment. Like we know they won’t sound the same but sometimes it can be pretty close and for starting out it’s a great choice. Love to see u giving honest reviews.
Thank you, bro! KT for the win.
Thanks for this video. I fully plan on picking up a pair of these soon and it’s great that there are demos out there. I already have the 1176-KT and the KT-2A and love them both. I don’t care if it’s new or old, the proof is in the pudding. If it sounds great to your ears and the song is better for it, then it’s worth having. Thanks again.
The 2nd coming of this analogue equipment is incredible. Everything that’s available now is soooo much better than 10-15 years ago.
What do you mean the second coming ?
@@saren6538 the use of analog equipment (despite the popularity and quality of digital plugins) is becoming popular again
@@sexdungeoninteriordesigner5045 yeah but the craze seems to have slowed down and people edging towards simplicity yet again
@@saren6538 sure. I would love having a double fridge sized rack setup for guitar IF the companies revised their old rack units with newer DSP tech, transformers and whatnot.
@@saren6538lies..only ppl who can’t afford real gear say or think dumb like that
Great job on this video. Definitely helped to inform my choice. Thanks!
Great video. I also bought two and just love it. Far better than the software emulations . Gonna buy the 76KT and KT-2A. Really hope Klark Teknik make some more clones.
Thanks for a detailed and well structured review! Going shopping now....
@@consordini6258 I did just that, and they arrived today. Had them up on a variety of sources already and very happy with them so far. Will see how it goes once they're in regular use, but right now I'm thinking I might even get a couple more!
dope! thanks for the review
Nice review!
I heard a lot of great reviews on these units - I just placed an order for two.
Your gonna LOVE IT! I am about to order my second unit pretty soon.
thanks to this video i am definitely looking to purchase this EQ thanks for the video also i'd love to purchase this song if and when it comes out, its so relaxing and has a great vibe.
Great video and demo, Alex. Thanks. I think the resurgence/insurgence of the budget priced analog gear is a fantastic development in audio, both for the professional and the enthusiast. I believe that if you were to blind test them, few people would be able to reliably tell them apart, if any. And come on: Over $4000 for a new UA LA-2A, let alone what a vintage unit would cost? The fact that a competitor can build one at a tenth of the price shows how unrealistic the high-end market has become. But hey, if price is no object, it's your money.
You know the LA-2A is a compressor right? This is an EQ. Or were you just using that as an example of overpriced replica?
Love mine! They are a couple of beasts! Get ya some.
right choice..low end gear sometimes delivers..it helps alot to a budget studios..
My girl just got me another to complete the pair. Used the first one on vocals with an Aston Origin and a Black Lion Autuer MKII, and it was pure awesome. Can't wait to run the pair with my MPC. :)
I also own an Aston Origin and a BLA Auteur MKII. This is a sign, hah! God bless!
Awesome music to Mix & Master - Klarks are Great as well !
nice demonstration
Thank you!
Consordini Musical instruments just picked one up, I love it!
I have the KT76. Love it.
Thanks, I've been "on the fence" about this EQ. I need something for tracking and spending thousands doesn't make sense when music is unfortunately not my day job. It's only my source of joy.
Nice review! I would love to hear a tube swap and compare it with the stock ones. What I read so far is that the Tung Sol ecc803s for the 12ax7 and a Mullard for the 12au7 seems to be a nice combination. Did you experiment with the Tubes in the EQP-KT already?
Great review. I will be picking 2 up to test in my studio. I do have one question on a different topic: I have been looking to get a new studio desk and I like the one you have in your video. Can you please tell me what the manufacturer and model is? Thanks.
Great video, my man. Can you please tell me the name of the tune you are using of the Morrocan dude? My girlfriend leads ecstatic dance sometimes and wants a recording of that tune. Thanks!
Nice I’m thinking about this along with a bus comp
Is that the ART comp? Over there 👀 I have it on my BH cart but can’t find some good reviews like you did man! Amazing content. I was originally going to buy just one for cleaning vocal channels but the facility to link 2 racks for mastering it’s amazing. Hands down!
It is, that's a very underrated compressor. But thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed!
The Art Pro VLA is fantastic at its price range. Very natural sounding. Very smooth as long as it’s not pushed to hard.
First really good Video i see about these units! Good Job. Thx, man. I have heared, that there are sometimes problems in using 2 in stereo. Do you just run both tracks of the master through them? Is there a link-connection? How can there be problems in using two in stereo? cheers
This is hands down the best video I could find on this bit of kit. One question: do you ever use that pair in a mid/side configuration (obviously using some kind of mid/side encoder/decoder)? Ever had any phase alignment issues?
@@consordini6258 awesome! I asked because I really want a pair to process stereo content in real time, but I'm afraid I'd get a pair that doesn't quite match well for LR processing. Thanks again!
I just bought the Klark Teknik kt76.
It's just amazing!
I'm not going to pay $5000 for the same unit of a different company.
I'm on track to get their La 2a.
Hey there, thank you so much for this video!!!
i can see that you have a pair of these EQs and i was curious to know how you have them connected.
Are those a stereo pair and how do you intergrate them in your signal chain?
I use them as hardware inserts in Studio One. I have them connected directly to my interface with XLR-DSUB snakes. Thanks for watching!
How hot of a signal do you find appropriate to send through these units while using them in your DAW on hardware inserts like that? I was just looking at the manual and it seems to state +4dbu, but that seemed kind of hot to me. I'm just starting to build out my outboard collection though and still learning. I realize each piece may work best at different levels.
How did your pair of the EQP-KT match together in terms of output db and knob settings? This two pieces I have has an output difference from about 0.4db
Great video. I own the KT EQPs and the KT 1176s and looking to buy a pair of the KT LA2A clones as well.
Thanks for watching! Great gear indeed. I'm keep to pick up the LA2As too - I'll do a video once I do.
Hey! Great content. How do you get the eqs to work in stereo?
Great vidéo and good demo cool nice Zycki...
I love that track at 6:00. Rockin' Morrocan.
@@consordini6258 You're welcome man. Nice work! Also, I just got (2) KTs last week. I plan to spend some time with them later this week.
How did you pair these units, I’m kinda curious because I happen to own two of them and I could not find a way to pair them.
Nice to see a level head demo and review of these units. Did you still have them? Jw if you're still happy or have you caved to the internet assholes? Lol
I used to have them and loved them but for space reasons went to 500 series and sold. Now looking to possibly expand again since 500 mastering Pultec style EQs are not really available.
I know I’m super late , looking to get into more analog gear, what’s the benefit in comparison to having only one vs having two?
Thanks for the review, I bought two of them now. I like those very smooth EQ's. Had a question though: Transformer balanced- ins and outs on the XLR connectors? Does that mean the Balanced jack in and out connectors are not transformer-balanced? Not very clear described. In the manual/guide it makes no difference in the specs between the jacks/XLR's(offcourse both balanced connected)
I ony can use balanced jackconnectors
@@consordini6258 Thanks !
For anyone looking at this 3 years later, balanced jacks will be transformer balanced also. Only the cables used to make the connection are different!
This is awesome. Gotta check them out 👍🏻
Hi ALex, i have one question, can i add this to my home stereo setup, if i am using an integrated amplifier, how would i add it ? between the source and integ amp?
or if i am using a preamp with power amp, abd after the preamp and before the power amp?
Well done video and great info.
How do these units sound if you were to use them on EQ-ing a guitar or vocal for instance. Or are they just really suited for a master buss signals using two units for left and right audio...
Gave you a Sub also.

That music! Is it available anywhere? I love it.
I own the KT2A. Pretty impressed with it. I recently changed the 12AX7A tubes for some NOS tubes I had from changing tubes in guitar amps and its an improvement over the tubes that came stock. Not a HUGE difference but it is an improvement none the less.I think I would like to change the other 2 tubes for some NOS tubes and see if it changes any more than it has.
i have two of these to use on my mix bus processing. i dont have an eq or any other gear to use in between these to level match. one seems to be quieter than the other. is there a calibration knob inside the unit? just asking before i bust this thing open lol if you have any suggestions on how to level match them let me know thanks! so far i have to turn the return signal up on one of the channels since thats all i have atm.
I don't know of an internal trim pot, no. That's how I would recommend level-matching - just boost or cut one of the two channels digitally. That'll be a more precise solution as well.
I have a pair and like them a lot...I also have the la2a clone and use it for tracking vocals to get a slight 2 to 3 db of compression since it has a very slow attack I dont crush my vocals just keep the louder parts in check and it sounds really good..looks like studio one your using..nice video!!
I wish you would have exaggerated it a bit more. On youtube it's a bit hard to hear the difference between bypass.
Do you think you would be able to use the HP section in a similar way to which Dub producers use the Altec 9069 ?
Awesome video! Now I have a EQP-KT on the way! Do you have any basic settings for vocal tracking to start with!?🙏😃
Just use your ear, and tweak to your heart's content. No two vocals are ever the same, each voice will need its own settings. Have fun though, it's a great unit!
Awesome thank you!😃🙏
Did you retube or change caps before this video? My pair collapse my stereo field a bit and I believe it's the tubes...... good video btw
I did not - bone stock. I've never noticed any stereo issues with mine.
Retubing on this unit will not improve the quality of sound.
Old studios from the 60’s a d 70’s
Used to throw pultecs away in the trash and he they bit the dust and many people scored by dumpster diving them, true story.
great video its funny we have similar gear great minds lol
Hello ,
did you compare the Klark Teknik EQP-KT with the Warm Audio EQP-WA? which one do you prefer .. thank you, for your answer .musically
@@consordini6258
thank you very much for your answer ..i have another question: do you think we can use klark Teknik in a professional studio as we can do with warm audio?
musically ,
Great review and dope track ! What is the title?
To me it seems odd that they would still make units for equing a single channel (and 2U in size!). Especially considering it is meant for "program".
the manual says...even in bypass, you're still gunna benefit from the gear, even in bypass mode just cause youre running a signal through it...nice!
this is amazing.....but i dont think i understand the boost then cut at the low end....would not one knob do the same thing?
It's just a different, and much more old-school design. It also allows you to boost and cut at the same time, which makes the EQ sort of fight itself in a really interesting way.
Through my motu m2 with a beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X I can´t hear this subtle sculpting effect (boosting and cutting the low end at the same time). If I mute and unmute the parts where you speak, there is noise as if you placed a large diaphragm condenser mic 10 feet away at your open window facing the cornfield on a windy day. What went wrong with that recording?
Listening through my MOTU m2 + Sennheiser HD560s as well and I genuinely can't hear what he's talking about.
How can we check input levels?
I tried it mid/side! Logic I/o really nice
how does this compare to high end waves plugins
Thanks for the video. Could you give me a few more example settings for my stereo bus? I have 2 EQP-KT's. Appreciate it!
Just use your ears, no particular settings will work on a given song. Hope you enjoy working with them!
Does it matter if you chain low end gear with high end gear for mastering
Awesome review, that chump over at spectre sound smashed one of these on camera recently after doing it horrible justice in a demo. This clarified my suspicion that like most pieces of gear no matter the cost, usable tones await for those with non-judgemental patience.
Dude - I just saw that vid. I've been amused by Glenn's vids in the past, but he's really going too far these days. He's built quite the cult of personality around cussing, berating, destroying things, and just generally being mean-spirited about all things music. If I review a piece of gear that I don't care for, I say just that - it's not for me. I point out potential issues. But to say that something is 100% awful and will 'completely destroy your mixes' is ridiculous. Such a shame.
Hej,Thank for nice movie. I am interested to buy two units as well. I have question, Is it possible to true bypasse this EQ in the way that signal will not be affected by transformer circuit? Maybe in Power OFF position? I can't find any informations about this. I plan to have this unit in a chain, so if I would like to skip it I have to rewire my setup? I'll be really grateful for help. All the best. Radek
@@consordini6258 ok.thank you very much for answer. I will order them next week and I am really happy for them. All the best!
are you able to select frequencies between the "click" presets let's say to cut a 45hertz freq specifically?? thanx
Consordini Musical instruments actually I was gonna use it to tame a specific room mode....that's why I was looking at an analog peq but what's the point of "parametric" if you cannot choose "parameters"? do you have any suggestions.....would it work in a hifi system to tame 45hz peak or it's not ment for that at all?? thanx
Consordini Musical instruments I have been going through this research but graphic eq seem to be lower in quality (power supplies/s/n ratio too noisy) and same
problem: they all have fixes bands to work with (and not the 45hz I need) . Do you have other suggestions of higher quality? thank you for sharing your experience!!
i was gonna get the warm audio version but this one is half the price and about the same quality I hear. I'm going with this one!
Great video! Make your voice mono in the future though!
And try a little 20hz boost in your mix. Magic
did you keep the tubes it came with?
Yep - they sound great as they are!
WOW!!! for 222 euros a piece its seems like a no brainer! You had me at boosting the 12k but the low end sold it to me
Yup - they're pretty amazing!
Bought two...four weeks later bought four more...nuff said
Can u answer why people buy 2? I know they pair them but.. for what? Lol for each instrument? I only want this for cutting low end on my vocals, one will do right?
gus dee since no one has answered your question, and assuming it isn’t way too late for an answer, yes, one will work for what you need. People are buying pairs of them to use on their stereo buses! These things are FANTASTIC for mastering, and at that price point, scooping a pair is an absolute no-brainer.
@@dombennett9286 preciate u. Yeah reading my comment back even a month later after researching and gaining more knowledge makes me cringe 🤣. I bought one, made sense that its for my mono vocals so 2 would be for stereo instruments or master bus. I like it alot, just wish there was a gain knob since cutting or boosting frequencies adds or cuts alot. The site I got it from sells a mod with one but wish I knew more about it. All good! A question tho if u know, with master bus compressors, is this connected differently? Since it will be for a stereo track, how does that work? My next pick up is going to be one.
gus dee for sure! Whatever plugin you use to insert your gear into your daw should have a mono and stereo option when selecting(3&4, 5&6, ect). Just make sure your units are in the correct ins and outs, and you’ll be good to go. Very simple
@@dombennett9286 been actually trying to figure that out to use my gear on pre recorded tracks. I have so many songs I want to run the gear thru so bad. Im 100% with recording and set up perfectly but still confused how to send it into the gear, back in my interface then to daw. I use an audient id22 and have 2 compressors plus the eq.. as an example, would I plug my 1/4 inch to output 3/4 of my interface then into the input of the compressor and the ouput of the compressor would go back to return 1? Ive hit up audient and gearslutz and they all tell me "send it through the gear and back in the interface" which I get is how its done but have no idea how lol. Thanks so much bro
If your unit has 3 tubes as you claim in the video, then you most certainly have a special unit! There are only 2 tubes per unit. Kind of worried me when you said you opened the unit up and confirmed and found 3 tubes. Might want to check that again, my friend.
Otherwise a good video 😉
Can i ask why you have 2 of them? can i not just use one? i like ur reviews plus am going to buy this unit
I think that if you want to use it on your master channel you need 2 units for stereo but I am not quite sure
If you are using it on a mono source, like vocals or a guitar or something you only need one. But if you are recording with two mics at the same time to create a stereo image you will need two. If you are running an entire song, or a stereo buss through it, like this guy is doing, you will need two unless you have a song where the left and right speakers are exactly the same.
@@MCEEZR wow many thanks Matty
any thoughts on Klark Teknik 76 ?
I've heard kind of mixed things about it. I'm inclined to think that it's pretty solid, though I have read that some people take issue with the build quality, which I find surprising given how tight these EQPs are.
what's the name of the track?
It's spelled "Equaliser" because Klark Teknik is a British company!
Or a German company since it’s now under Behringer 😉
Using the Warm Audio of these 800$ each worth every penny😎
I use the KT2a routed in a EQP-KT. Sweet, i like them! Especially the bottom end on the EQ (use it mainly for Kicks, Basses and stuff like that). I don't have a pair, so no mastering with it for me.. better buy one ore more of these, than another crappy plugin :)
@Δημήτρης Γάκης yes I know, but that's a weird way to master ^^ in mixing I do this from time to time, but usually run it right through other gear.
In response to your comments they are cheap junk but as we said they do what they are intended to do. when we first bought these units back when they first came out the build quality was very poor. we just got new ones this month and the build quality is much better but not at a quality that we would expect to last year's and years like our dbx 576 or yamaha gear. we wonder what the lifespan of these are supposed to be
Im actually about to order 2 of there EQ's and there 1176 and LA2A clones
i have the 1176 is nice, but it has some hiss in the output, you can find some information in the web.
When you’re watching a video then you realize you watch it 2 years ago... shit. Still haven’t bought this.
good try, but the audio quality is a bit shy lol.
Your talking too much over the demonstration. When you are doing the demo .. let the music play at least 10-15 seconds before you start talking. But I am definitely picking up a pair of these and the compressor.
These days (if you choose properly) there is NO REASON to spend a kings ransom on analog gear, fact is, identical pieces of vintage analog gear often sound different among themselves, its really gotten to the point where (properly chosen) you cant tell the difference between cheap and ridiculously expensive gear, not only on individual A/B comparisons but ESPECIALLY listening to a final product!
Agreed 100%. There's so much incredible stuff on the market at such great prices. It's a great time to be an engineer!
You kept talking as you went to bypass!

Thanks so much for watching. Glad it was helpful!
Oh by they way,. Spectresoundstudios thinks these units are garbage just like his reviews and youtube channel .
These KT (Behringer, let’s face it) pieces are a really questionable investment for an in-the-box recording setup. Plug-ins are both better sounding, and a much better investment. I suspect these are selling as ‘faux vanity’ rack fillers. They are designed and built to a price and will fail just like most things made to that purpose. The component quality demanded by this type of design is inevitably atrocious. Unlike originals, these will not be worth the time and effort to repair, and will end up filling a studio’s junk room. There is no free lunch. $600 thrown in the circular file, in my opinion.
They definitely sound better than plugins. In these shootouts the plugins almost always lose, even to the bargain basement analog stuff.
@@jacobseal I disagree completely. I own the genuine articles - vintage UREI 1176, 1178, LA4, 5, 2a - as well as many plug-in emulations, and can say for a fact that is not true. Are you speaking from personal experience with both choices? My vintage gear is very well maintained and still suffers from inconsistency and noise the plug-ins simply do not have. I have the choice and choose plug-ins every day.
@@artysanmobile yes I have experience with the real units although I don't own them. It's great for you that you prefer the plugs. Not everyone does.
@@jacobseal I prefer what gets me the sound I want and can’t afford to have a tech work on my old gear. I do my own maintenance and when they are less than perfect, I still need to make records to make a living. The very best plug-ins do their job exceptionally well. For example, I can’t afford to buy 5-6 Pultec EQ-1Ps. Who can? But Waves’ Classic EQs has a brilliant EQ-1P emulation that is even better than the hardware.
@@artysanmobile that's cool man. Enjoy and make that paper.
The LA2A clone they make is, well, OK. That thing is just a turd. DON'T buy!
"Midas transformers". Now that's funny as Midas, before they were bought by Music Group, never made any transformers. They used Sowter in their old desks. So your EQ has..........Midas stickers on some cheap transformers.
I tried them and they definitely sound better than plugins..I can't stand that plugin sound...
"Equaliser" is spelled NOT with a ZED, but with an "S" because it was made OUTSIDE THE USA. This spelling has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE USA, but rather with the Queen's English! (And ALL English speaking, gentle and kind people in the world except bloody brick-dropping Trump YANKS).
I am trying to buy a Klark Teknik EQP-KT, but I cannot get a fix on it's nominal INPUT LOAD IMPEDANCE at 2.0 VAC (line level). It is to be fed by 1960s McIntosh preamps (valves, C-20s and C-8s with some modern, standard upgrades). ALL 1960s (and most 1950s) McIntosh preamps have a nominal output impedance of 50K ohms, via a nice isolated cathode follower circuit. -No transformers in this world, -just pure class A and full isolation. -Load the McIntosh C20 down as little as 10-15K Ohms (i.e. 35-40k input Ohms) and it will loose bass, treble increase distortion and cut off YOUR AIR SUPPLY. REGARDLESS if it is a golden Midas transformer dong the loading!
You see, I have a E.E. university background (from a real university, -and I was NOT sent down!); so before knobs are twiddled, I make sure it is RIGHT. Sorry, I am just funny that way.
NO, we are not matching a radio transmitter to a resonant aerial, hence, I do not need the input of the EQP-KT to be exactly 50K Ohms to match the McIntosh (ALL 1960s McIntosh's are 50K Ohms, -in and out via cathode follower buffer valves) , but , anything less than a nominal 35K or 40K ohms input to the Klark EQP will simply NOT do.
Dear lord, how can I find some straight specs that say more than just the input load must be greater than 600 Ohms?!! A lot of things are greater than 600 Ohms, but trust me; -40,000 Ohms input from the Klark WILL adversely LOAD the McIntosh preamps!
I am old, dusty, and educated. I know these things.
Have you gotten a NOMINAL IMPEDANCE FIX ON THE MIDAS INPUT X-FORMERS?
Obviously, I am also hoping those MIDAS X-formers will act as an isolating direct box. I can find NOOOO specs, windings, wire gauge, Iron core flux, dampening, etc on the MIDAS transformers. I find this appalling for a professional.
If this was an original Pultec I would not bat an eye.
Hey, thanks for watching. I don't have the input load impedance figure for these units. I will say - I appreciate your passionate and educated approach, but with your knowledge and experience, I really, really don't think you'll like these. These EQs are great for mixing on a budget and for guys looking to learn more about rack gear without spending an arm and a leg. But keep in mind - these are knockoffs of knockoffs, mass-produced in a huge factory by a company (Behringer/MusicTribe) that was for many years regarded as the lowest of the low in terms of quality. Now, again, I really dig these units, and find them to be fine for my purposes. But they are 100% NOT on the level of original Pultecs, or even modern clones from the likes of Mercury, Manley, Magnatec, or Pulse Techniques. I'd bet that they don't publish wiring information or impedance data because they don't even know. They're cheap boxes for a reason. If you're looking for something much higher-quality, but still at a decent price, check out my friend Chris at AudioScape. He hand-builds his units with exacting parts, and I'm sure he can provide you with exact specs. His Pultecs are going for around $1k USD if I remember correctly.
