I lived in Australia while this show was on the first time. The TV scripts were written at the last minute to reflect real issues with the upcoming Olympic Games. I agree with everyone -- this apology is what many Australians wanted to hear from the real John Howard. The actor was brilliant in reading the script......which should be have used by the real Prime Minister. It was so well written.

I think this was John Clarke's finest moment, and PM John Howard should have just asked for the script.

Love the fact that they have the actor John Howard playing the prime minister John Howard.

Autotrope it wasn't actor John Howard playing prime minister John Howard, it was actor John Howard playing actor John Howard.

Matthew Rowles they made a video within the show in which the actor John Howard played the prime minister John Howard. It was a real actor whose name is John Howard which was the same name as the prime minister of the time. It is this fact which I loved.

Did the real Prime Minister John Howard ever issue an apology?

According to what I've read (I'm not Australian so take this with a pinch of salt), he never did, but his successor did issue an apology.

this is Australian, why is it blocked in Australia? I had to VPN to Ireland to watch this Australian comedy that has been copyrighted to the ABC, that is funded with my taxes....

That is baffling... I mean I'm watching these because no DVDs are available in my country, but why would Australia make it hard to watch a clip of one of their own shows?
