Yep, I love how so many of these wonderful artists are friends and truly enjoy and respect each other. Watch, for example, Valley of the Queens...Anneke and Marcela, both top level performers by any measure, seem to naturally and easily defer to Floor, especially at the close. For most I think it takes true confidence of self to so joyfully and sincerely acknowledge another's greater gifts. That's just really cool, and seemingly too hard for too many "stars".

That could be for any of several reasons, but it still makes you wonder why.
Hopefully, she migrated her channel to the Epica connection.
She is known for her gratitude for her fans and regards them as family.
It's also possible that the pandemic has created some anxiety about social contact or even pressure to be 'productive' from the 'machine', causing a form of burnout.
Floor Jansen had gone through a period where the pressure of 'parforming' drove her to near exhaustion. Even recently, Marko Hietela resigned from Nightwish and public life to reevaluate his life and mental health.
Musicians are artists and creativity and the demands of the consumer driven music industry rely on continuous investment, or regular output of the 'commodity'.
Music is also a business that requires a steady stream of rare inspiration. A supply of regular inspiration is, on occasion, rare indeed.
While creating and sharing in that inspiration drives some, it drives some to exhaustion.
The 'industry' can be a harsh mistress.

"Stabat Mater Dolorosa" is a christian hymn from the 13th century with music by Italian composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi from the 18th century actually. But yes, definitiv worth a reaction video, just to see a whole venue filled with metalheads going completely quiet while listening.

What if Epica and Nightwish would do a concert together? I guess it would be heavely epic. Those voices with all the muscal skills of the band, orchestra and choir. They could play that stuff, and the whole stuff, at my funeral. This is out of this world.
I have a dream! Someone said in the past. I have a dream to. Epica and Nightwish together, accompanied by the Dutch Metropole Orchestra. That would be heaven. It would be the concert of the century!!!

@@ralfmeyer9086 the reason Tuomas doesn't want to do it is the work that is needed to get this up to his standards combined with the cost, you barely get a wage out of these concerts once all the costs are counted... he's not wrong... when people want to pay Metallica prices for Nightwish maybe, but then again they don't want to raise ticket prices to Metallica levels, ever.

I looked up the whole show, and it's pretty amazing and ridiculous- 26 songs, with the full orchestra, choir, TWO Floor Jansen appearances and even acrobats and other wonders! Talk about giving your fans their money's worth! I admit to not knowing a lot of Epica, but "Chasing the Dragon" from that show made an impression. Great job, guys! 🤘🤘
Another fun fact - Simone was 3 month pregnant at the time of this concert - pretty wild vocal considering, just if you wonder why she was not windmilling as hard as Floor ;o)

3 hour Retrospect concert, Simone pregnant, full choir and orchestra. Was the 10 year anniversary of the band.
All songs were EPIC
If you listen carefully you can just make out the choir in the background they really shine near the end with the male vocals too. But Simone and Floors vocals was so loud and strong and blended so well. Love the chemistry they form together. Also for Nightwish having their own Orchestra following them it's all down to money as they tour around the world so many times on going this would be very expensive.
You can also find some phone video footage from another performance of this song on YT, in which Coen, the keyboardist, jumps down from the stage and joins the audience for a while and Simone is joined by Laura Macri and Marcela Bovio, who are singers in MaYaN, which started as a side project in which they developed musical ideas that would not fit into Epica´s output. But this Retrospect performance is still beautiful with the choir and the orchestra and it is three hours long. I would probably do Design Your Universe or Chasing the Dragon from this concert.

Floor and Simone Simons are friends since years. Mark Jansen (no relative of Floor cause Jansen/Janssen/Janssens is a very common name in the Netherlands), the one who did shout out Floor’s name at the end once was together with Floor in her 1st band After Forever. BTW Simone was pregnant at this concert.
Epica did celebrate their 10th anniversary with a unique live concert. A 70-piece symphonic orchestra and choir will accompany the band at the Klokgebouw in Eindhoven (NLD). Especially for this show the band has invited the Hungarian Extended Remenyi Ede Chamber Orchestra and Choir of Miskolc National Theatre. Also, because of the great demand by international fans, Epica announced a live stream, called the Retrostream, on March 4, 2013.

I saw the show live via internet in 2013 . It was the first Time ever a saw a show like that very cool of them seriously it was for thé 10 th year anniversaire . Retrospect .
Epica is amazing and this duet is awesome. The whole 3 hours long Retrospect show (for their 10th anniversary) with the orchestra and choir is incredible!

Absolutely agree, Nightwish and Epica are equal number one in this genre IMHO, both bands have each carved out a unique sound that belongs to them, lots of bands have tried to sound like Nightwish and failed.

simone & floor are BFF'S for a long time & they used to be roommates & mark jansen the guitar player the founder of EPICA not related to floor jansen but they got the same last name used to be & was the co founder of after forever also used to be with floor in after forever & in 2011 floor joined along with simone with mark jansen's other band called MAYAN for their first album called QUARTERPAST
