Yeah, recycler charges are usually the best way of getting stuff out of the way. The only problem is accidentally getting caught in the blast, or pulling something useful into it and recycling it.
Exotic Materials are the "Rarest" to a degree (I am sure over time that isn't the case due to respawning enemies but diminishing looting... Plus later enemies FLOOD you with exotic materials)... But absolutely nothing uses it while everything uses Mineral and Synthetic and often a LOT of it... INCLUDING Neuromods which take 2 of each and 3 Exotic.

tbf it's only rare early on, once you can comfortably take on Nightmares it's pretty easy to get ahold of. Honestly mineral's hardest to get for me. I've got way too much synthetic material and organic isn't used for loads outside of health packs and anti-rad, but mineral is used for all sorts, from bullets to weapon upgrades to neuromods, you always need it so it's naturally in the highest demand.
Not if you're aiming to get 100% of ALL neuromod abilities LOL. Seriously though, in a playthrough where you aren't screwing around, mineral is BY FAR the rarest resource - for that reason alone I dislike building weapon kits, med kits, ammo - basically everything this guy recommends fabricating. I recommend only 21neuromod: Combat Awareness. Rank 1 lets you kill mimics risk free with a wrench. Rank 2 lets you do the same to phantoms. Rank 3 lets you farm nightmares with a pistol - provided there is a nearby vent to hide in while Combat Awareness is on cooldown :P Even after getting maxed ranks in all damaging psi abilities, it's simply not practical, easy or safe to take out most enemies without activating Combat Awareness first. AOE abilities are useless against mimics if they get in face hugging range, a fully upgraded disruptor can slaughter a 2 technopaths and 4 operators on a single clip - that would take 300+ psi points to pull off with AOE abilities. Don't get me wrong, the psi abilities are fun and powerful, but they are just nowhere close to as cost effictive.

Finished the game on nightmare without using neuromods and I can tell you all of these are just quality of life thing. But you solve most problems by exploration or using recycler charges.
Good recommendations there, but I'd suggest just leverage Lvl 1, as you can throw or wedge smaller items at or against heavier ones to move them out of the way ;)

The best way to get players into your crafting system is to make it simple. It's nice how everything breaks down into 4 base materials, which can be used to craft literally everything else. It gets you to recycle for materials, and manage what you craft with them, without seeming tedious. Well, unless you never upgrade your inventory. Fuck that.
I'm on my first run through, and I am sticking with all human mods for my first game. But I messed up by putting everything into combat at the beginning. And then I realized that just made the aliens harder and made a lot of places inaccessible. There is so much I missed out on, cause I just didn't know what I was doing or how the game would unfold. And as a result,l I didn't improve my hacking or brawn enough.
There is only like 3 or 4 rooms you can't access without typhoon powers, the game counts a lot on your ability to use the tools at your disposal, like the crossbow, the gloo gun or recycling charges.
@@vodkaboy I'm a bit of a slow learner. I barely even used the crossbow through my whole play. There were some rooms where more strength would have gotten me in. The one neuromod that has to be installed regardless for me is the combat focus, I love playing stealthily while still being trigger happy yet save up on ammo bc of combat focuses damage increase
Oh yeah, combining Combat Focus with a shotgun melts most typhon in an instant. It's usually my go-to for Nightmares, too, start with Psychoshock to stop it's projectiles (fully upgraded and combined with the amp chipset it can melt like a third of its health in an instant too) then pop Combat Focus and strafe it with a shotgun and it's gone before it has a chance to do anything.
I agree, those are essential. All except for Leverage. I never had to wander too far to find a spare explosive canister that I could then shoot to blow away an improvised barricade or heavy grate. I finally got Leverage late in the game when I had a surplus of Neuromods and I was looking for something to spend them on. All in all, not a necessity.
I agree with all of these except leverage. Just use recycle grenades to clear paths or get lvl 1 morph (1 typhon ability wont set off turrets) and squeeze through as something small

I would've bought Prey if I wouldnt have gotten spoiled the whole story on the fucking internets
Trust me, the story is the least interesting part of this game. The game is brilliant mechanically.
Ignore this video if you are a new player.
