      Exotic Materials are the "Rarest" to a degree (I am sure over time that isn't the case due to respawning enemies but diminishing looting... Plus later enemies FLOOD you with exotic materials)... But absolutely nothing uses it while everything uses Mineral and Synthetic and often a LOT of it... INCLUDING Neuromods which take 2 of each and 3 Exotic.

    • @Mr._Sherwood
      @Mr._Sherwood 3 года назад +2

      tbf it's only rare early on, once you can comfortably take on Nightmares it's pretty easy to get ahold of. Honestly mineral's hardest to get for me. I've got way too much synthetic material and organic isn't used for loads outside of health packs and anti-rad, but mineral is used for all sorts, from bullets to weapon upgrades to neuromods, you always need it so it's naturally in the highest demand.

    • @r3dp9
      @r3dp9 7 лет назад +2

      Not if you're aiming to get 100% of ALL neuromod abilities LOL. Seriously though, in a playthrough where you aren't screwing around, mineral is BY FAR the rarest resource - for that reason alone I dislike building weapon kits, med kits, ammo - basically everything this guy recommends fabricating.
      I recommend only 21neuromod: Combat Awareness. Rank 1 lets you kill mimics risk free with a wrench. Rank 2 lets you do the same to phantoms. Rank 3 lets you farm nightmares with a pistol - provided there is a nearby vent to hide in while Combat Awareness is on cooldown :P
      Even after getting maxed ranks in all damaging psi abilities, it's simply not practical, easy or safe to take out most enemies without activating Combat Awareness first. AOE abilities are useless against mimics if they get in face hugging range, a fully upgraded disruptor can slaughter a 2 technopaths and 4 operators on a single clip - that would take 300+ psi points to pull off with AOE abilities. Don't get me wrong, the psi abilities are fun and powerful, but they are just nowhere close to as cost effictive.

    The best way to get players into your crafting system is to make it simple. It's nice how everything breaks down into 4 base materials, which can be used to craft literally everything else. It gets you to recycle for materials, and manage what you craft with them, without seeming tedious. Well, unless you never upgrade your inventory. Fuck that.

    I'm on my first run through, and I am sticking with all human mods for my first game. But I messed up by putting everything into combat at the beginning. And then I realized that just made the aliens harder and made a lot of places inaccessible. There is so much I missed out on, cause I just didn't know what I was doing or how the game would unfold. And as a result,l I didn't improve my hacking or brawn enough.

      There is only like 3 or 4 rooms you can't access without typhoon powers, the game counts a lot on your ability to use the tools at your disposal, like the crossbow, the gloo gun or recycling charges.

      @@vodkaboy I'm a bit of a slow learner. I barely even used the crossbow through my whole play. There were some rooms where more strength would have gotten me in. The most important skill is that one that lets you harvest more alien material. I didn't really see the point of buying that up at the beginning, but by the 3/4 mark of finishing the game, it finally occurred to me that if I had bought that up sooner, I could have had several more skills than I had.

      Oh yeah, combining Combat Focus with a shotgun melts most typhon in an instant. It's usually my go-to for Nightmares, too, start with Psychoshock to stop it's projectiles (fully upgraded and combined with the amp chipset it can melt like a third of its health in an instant too) then pop Combat Focus and strafe it with a shotgun and it's gone before it has a chance to do anything.

  • @Unownshipper
    @Unownshipper 6 лет назад +4

    I agree, those are essential. All except for Leverage. I never had to wander too far to find a spare explosive canister that I could then shoot to blow away an improvised barricade or heavy grate. If there weren't any I'd just carefully lob a Recycler Charge (which I usually had an excess of anyway) and then boom, bonus crafting material. I finally got Leverage late in the game when I had a surplus of Neuromods and I was looking for something to spend them on. All in all, not a necessity.

  • @Azrael-XIII

    You don't need any of the leverage neuromods because Recycling charge bombs do the same thing. No materials are rare ....
    Go to the recycler and split ur any of ur material block into 4
    And get double of the original

    'Nightmare' is not hard in this game. Mainly because fabrication materials aren't any less plentiful. And they are *extremely* plentiful.
    This video is half right, half wrong. Truth is you can go just about any direction you want with neuromods and be just fine, on Nightmare or any other difficulty. Necropsy and Materials Expert will make early, early game easier. But even if you skip these neurmods, you'll still be swimming in materials by mid-game.
    I do recommend Necropsy if you want to make the game a cakewalk ASAP by going for the Neuromod fabrication plan early (which you can get very, very early with Hacking 2 and a bit of bold exploration in the Neuromod Division... you'll have to deal with one tough enemy for that early in the game, but it's nothing a combo of disruptor stun pistol and Recycler grenade spam can't handle with a yawn.
    I like Prey, but the game is too easy. I even killed the Nightmare typhon-form my very first time encountering it. The objective tells you to hide and evade? Yeah, right. I have ~800 Q-Beam ammo at this point, game.
    Pretty much the only way to make Prey hard is to do a zero-neuromod run.

    I find this game too difficult because it has too much combat. I played in easy and still lack ammo and kits, maybe it is just me but I like immersive sims to give me STEALTH possibilities. Too much shooting here. And the backtracking makes the game worse too compared to Dishonored 1/2. I quit

      Illuminat3d how does the Glitch work

    • @jonathankreitler5045
      @jonathankreitler5045 7 лет назад

      Illuminat3d not really after you make some Neuromods you have a glitch in the machine and you can't make more

    • @Illuminat3d
      @Illuminat3d 7 лет назад

      Just split your materials then recycle them over and over

    • @jonathankreitler5045
      @jonathankreitler5045 7 лет назад +1

      Illuminat3d no after you make a specific number of neuromods there is a glitch in the machine in game and then you have a side quest to go to a office of someone to fix it

    • @Illuminat3d
      @Illuminat3d 7 лет назад +1

      Not a glitch, it'll activate a side mission where you have to go reset the recycler permission from another computer

  • @darkcloud6664

    Necropys is a waste of a skill to have simply because you usually will have more exotic materials then minerals. Without minerals you cant craft neuromods. So a big no to that skill.

  • @quint3ssent1a
    @quint3ssent1a 7 лет назад +2

    so much bullshit.
    exotic material is the least rare material in the game, and you literally choke on the cubes of this shit. the rarest thing is the minerals, and there's nothing you can do about it.
