Would love to see the pre-prod that went into this as well! Like the deck you presented to client, if there was a storyboard, etc. So much great insights here, man. Mad props to you and your crew!
please do an episode of how you plan your shots pleaseeee. I go into a lot of shoots overwhelmed, messy and unorganized. There's always so much to shoot in so little time. Curious to check out your workflow
Just came across your channel and I'm hooked. Thanks for the tips - really easy to follow the way you explain everything. Look forward to trying out some of these techniques.
incredible work as always dude. Would love to know your prep such as shotlisting based on the requests for such campaigns. i find it the most difficult to do the pre production work for shoots.
Great video.. I would have did the same type of edit maybe more AWGE asap rocky style zooms and photo overlay visuals with a glow effect and a lens with a lens that has good bokeh, actually amazing video bro u just gave me an idea for a spec shoot
loved the ad and appreciated the breakdown so much I checked out the masterclass. super interested in enrolling. is there perhaps a sale or discount coming up? (:
I just snagged one of the only two listed working CCD-SC7 Handycams on ebay 😭🥳. Thanks dude I'll have that setup soon. Love me some authentic tape look. 😁😁
So I finally got all the pieces in the mail (Sony off ebay, Powerplay off aliexpress, 3d printed powerplay Cable Spacer (Devbuild on Etsy). Here's some things to note if you plan on building one ➡: Gaku has his powerplay mounted upside down for some reason? probably because of the cable orientation, but I easily had extra slack to have it right side up. The provided coil cable can be modded so it doesn't have the annoying DC and fan wires dangling around (I snipped those with a cable cutter, they aren't needed ever for this setup and are independent of the AV cable). If you get the cable spacer (because the powerplay AV cable doesn't work when all-the-way inserted) then to mount the powerplay in its grey headmount shell, you have to actually slice the mount with a razorblade to make it fit the spacing adapter, which I went and did and it fits great. Then just remove the foam from its backing and stick to the Sony handycam monitor's plastic edge with Alien Tape (most of these cam screens are busted anyway, basically worthless for viewing). Now all that's left is to grab a custom leather handgrip for the setup off etsy. ALSO, you'll want to grab extra 18500 batteries and a charger off ebay for the powerplay (the included ones suck), and maybe a few extra NPF batteries of the same size to the handycam's because its battery fits a very specific space in the grip of the camera (I believe they are 1000 mAh size. find one with USB-C for quick charging 🧠).
Also, you can turn the native screen off with a switch below it to the right. the leftmost button on that same area also turns off the display lines on the actual AV feed since you aren't recording to tape it will auto display the "not recording" lines
*correction: modern NPF batteries that can fit this SC7 are higher capacity for the same size. so it's not 1000 mAh. On ebay I found a Kastar battery of the same size that's 2900 mAh for example
any tips on how to get more work like this, I think I have enough experience but I find it hard to get noticed or find ways to approach brands for work
Great vid. But sorry 1. I LIVE in Japan. 2. I bought Arc'tyrx from the factory when i lived in Canada. 3. I made FULL feature movies. But good job man keep going you can make it one day too.
I got 3 Hi8 And 1 Dv8 Hardest thing is to transfer the footage to my pc so I can format it in MP4. 💢💢💢😤😤🤬😡🤬 Uh Mane... I may have yo invest in that capture device you gpt there 😅
So when capturing via PowerPlay- there's no interlacing /de-interlacing process before editing? What type of file format does it output for ya? (resolution/framrate/mp4?)
search DEVBUILD A/V cable. The problem is that most video quarter inches don't seat correctly in the Powerplay. In this video it looks like he's just using a modified version of the stock a/v DC cable that comes with the Powerplay. from my quick research you don't even need the DC aspect so look up what I posted ✌🏼
Would love to see the pre-prod that went into this as well! Like the deck you presented to client, if there was a storyboard, etc. So much great insights here, man. Mad props to you and your crew!

Shout out James Baxter.
Great video, I learned a lot through the video, but I would also like to see your way of color grade because your color grade is phenomenal 🤯🙌👏
These were the greatest little videocams back in the day. You could just set them down on a table to keep recording and the lens switching was cool.
i've worked on sony and dji launch videos, but not having ever done fashion brands, this was super cool and interesting. Thank you!
one of the few creators that shares actual real-world knowledge and how-to:s... education masterclass! Thanks Gaku
