😀 A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living, and never really knowing what’s around the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.
So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.
Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 we set off heading East to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkiye, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had 18 wonderful months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go West and shipped our van to the USA.
We hope you enjoy coming with us, we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new too.
«I was born ready to rock n’roll» or just «I was born ready». Both would be perfect T-shirt slogans.
Crazy, well done, those kids need a medal each one of them !
Yep they are fabulous kids and with such adventurous parents and as they have been travelling a long time as a family they are experienced travellers ... imagine how incredible they will be as adults?! M 🌺
I can't believe how excited I am to see someone else go the the Artic Ocean. Congratulations for completing such an epic journey!
Woo Hoo - thank you so much - we loved this challenge and feel so happy so many people really enjoyed this adventure too xx
Who ever gets to do this? Without you2 and your video, I wouldn't either1 THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!
Thanks Linda - great to have you on the adventure with us
Congratulations on reaching the top of the world!! A dip in that ocean is like having cold water therapy. What an epic journey- you’re both so brave in doing this and high five to Trudy - the girl done good 🙌🙌🙌🙌 thank you for opening our eyes to the world and for showing us to embrace each other and our beautiful world
Thanks Pelin - what an adventure and what a challenge !! We are so pleased we did it - and we are so proud of our girl Trudy 🚐💕🙌
Well done all of you!!! The Canadian North isn't for everyone that is for sure. It has its own beauty though and some of the hardiest people for sure. Glad you made it safe and relatively in one piece (we will see once the dust settles, lol). A journey to remember!!!
You should find the show Ice Road Truckers. You’d learn all about what those trucks are hauling!
In Minnesota we use road graters to plow the snow.
Good on you for making it all the way! That habitat is called muskeg above the tree line
4 months ago I watched Living the Vanlife put a sticker on the same sign. Love it when stories of different people cross like this
I saw that too! I was hoping they would look at all the stickers on that sign. He never took a dip though - no effing way😂.
And he did it in the Winter!
Woo Hoo - That is fabulous - I have messaged him to see if we can meet up !! M xx
I watched it too! It’s so great to see the journey on Winter and Summer. I hoped they’d get to see the doggie…
Me too. I paused treading the globes video to look for it
marrianne and chris wonderfull holiday god bless you eline emeğine sağlık bu güzel vlog için kolay gelsin hayırlı işler....👍👍👍👍
Thank you
Way to go! Thanks for letting us come along!🎉🎉🎉
Thanks Bonnie 🙌🌺
Those trucks are rock haulers, gravel, dirt, etc...
Congrats guys! Did you know you traveled the first all weather road in Canada, joining Tuk to Inuvik! A masterful feat to build due to permafrost melt and shift. Loving this adventure especially the polar dip! Good on ya!
Thank you so much Anne
Kudos on making it to Tuk. NORAD has listening stations nearby. They are used to track Santa on Christmas Eve. We had the honour to visit there in June 2019. Got a major windshield crack 7km from end. Do not order pizza. Cheers!
What an epic adventure! This was a bona fide expedition that took a lot of guts, grit, stamina and endurance through a lot of discomfort and a few hairy moments but from minute one, it was done intelligently and always safely. So well done. What an accomplishment. May I just add that I particularly appreciated and was touched by how thoughtfully and respectfully you presented Tuk. That showed a lot of class. This entire journey was very eye opening and fascinating. (My favorite snippet is definitely the remote gas station with "petrol in a barre!!!" Bar none, that was absolutely hilarious!
Thank you - this will be one to remember for us all ... 👍 And we still chuckle at the barrel thing too !! 😂🙌
Fantastic woohoo. I’m so glad you’re travelling in tandem with Andy and Sam..and kids.. Andy and Marianne are CRAZY getting in the 💦. Brrrrr. Ps..love your chicken hat haha.
Well done … enjoy and be careful of the weather and wildlife …. and bugs … the mosquitoes above the arctic circle in Finland used to ‘bite’ me through my jeans … lol😉
What an incredible accomplishment! I don't know of any other youtubers who've actually gone right to the shoreline of the Arctic Ocean. Hats off to you guys, that's a hell of an endurance test! I've lived in Canada all my life and the farthest north I've ever been is Sudbury, Ontario, lol. Guess you'll be glad when you get back to civilization?
Chad living the vanl life he's done it in winter ... have a look
Thanks - it was certainly one of the hardest challenges we have done !! We have messaged Chad from Living in the van to see if we can meet up in Mexico !!
@@TREADtheglobe wow really
Well done for reaching the Arctic Ocean and a massive thanks to Trudy for getting you there 👏👏🫶
Thank you kindly - Yes she is indeed our trusty steed !! M xx
Well done folks! That looks like another PVC parked up at 16:33....unless it's a mini-bus.
You did it! You jumped in the water! Now I’m inspired. Gotta try it myself!
Woo Hoo - you can do it !! 💪💦 🙌
Those are gravel haulers. They’re usually paid by the load, pedal to the metal truckers. 😱dangerous
Absolutely love watching your vids guys, you guys are really brave and very smart travelling with other people.
WOW, YOU MADE IT!! Any many thanks for bringing us along. The world population is going to reach 8 Billion people in March 2023 and you guys are only a handful of almost 8 billion that made an overland trip to the Arctic and jumped in. Congratulations Chris, Marianne, Sam, Andy and the kids!!
the world belong to the braves! congrats!
Woo Hoo
Crazy and adorable you two. No way I would get in that water! Real true friends share bagels, great episode, love you all bunches. Shout out to Sam and Andy, tell the kids what great memories they’re making. Best education in the world, what great people they’re becoming with a great rounded world view. Hugs
Thanks Norma 🙌🌺
And in they go to the Arctic Ocean….excellent adventure indeed. So funny that Grandma went off to bingo upon your arrival. I’m glad you were able to have a meal the next day. Keep on keeping on.
Thank you for your support and friendship Kathi - we are so glad you enjoyed it 🌺
I'm soooo glad you made it there ok. When I did that drive in an RV over 25 years ago... maybe 30 years now. It was sooo unbelievably treacherous that I could not bring myself to do the drive back home to Florida. I sold my RV for cheap at a park and flew back from Anchorage. 😬
Tuktoyuktuk has a small all year population. The semi trucks are carrying supplies up to the village, and the villagers due make things for selling in lower Canada. The show The Ice Road Truckers on cable tv is filmed on the river that flows to Tuktoyuktuk when it freezes over in the winter. It iwas used as a road in the winter.
INCREDIBLE!!! I got really teary as you arrived. Such an achievement..and thankyou for sharing it xxx
Sally thank you so much - we are so glad we are able to do these challenges and share the roads, views, and adventure with you 🌺
Congratulations on a dream accomplished. Thank you so much for. the journey. Safe travels home.
The ripples in the road we call it wash boarding. They have the surface of the old wash boards women used before washing machines. Great video!
Thanks for the info 👍🌺
Congratulation....you did it.
Thank you! 🤗
Wow you made it. Congrats to you eight
Yes! Thank you!
Can't believe you jumped in that water! Way to go! Be careful driving back 🙂
Never a dull moment with you guys I really enjoy your videos you guys are a barrel of fun stay healthy stay blessed and safe my friends are traveling our app and I enjoy every single travel with you guys🦋🎈🙏🏾🫶🏽🥰
Thank you so much Carmen 🌺🙏
Wiping my computerscreen of fog and dust...😄 love you guys !
Love that!
The poles are deliniators used for showing you the edge of the road during the whiteouts of blowing snow
If it's the same as the Canadian Rockies, those sticks measure the snow depth. Great journey. Thanks so much
For those who aren't familiar with the RUclips channel - Peter Santenello -. he just uploaded a video on Whittier in Alaska which Marian and Chris stopped in after going through the long tunnel and where everyone lives in one high rise building. Peter got a tour inside the building with one of the residents.. very interesting. I think he has a couple more videos on Alaska also. Worth a watch..
I was just going to ask you what those strange shaped trucks are used for... when you asked the question yourself! .... the road trip there is extraordinary... Fascinating.. Trudy is some heroine... Part of the family for sure forever. This trip is way beyond any of your previous drives. Stunning. I'm really enjoying your sharing of it.
Thank you 🚐💪🌺
Congratulations! I’m going to jump in the Pacific Ocean in celebration with you! Blessings and safe travels🧜♀️💕
Sounds great!
Well done on reaching the Artic Ocean, I was emotional watching this
Thanks Sandra 🌺
18:20 Congratulations👍🇹🇷👋🏻
Michelin tyres are superb, much better than those rubbish German things, Continental. Well done guys. 👍
Congratulations you did it 👏 save journey back xx
CONGRATULATIONS YOU TWO!!!!!
omg I can't believe you were in Turkey and after in Canada. I am originally from Turkey, and I moved to Canada 25 years ago, and I own some land in Nunavut as well. I am in love with the northern territories and you guys gave me courage. Next year, I will definitely drive up to the north and see Artic Ocean. What an adventure.
Great to see you've made it.🤗🤗 I have been to Nemrut, Mardin and Diyarbakır last week. Passing by Batman I remembered your nice comments.😘😘😘
Congratulations all, an epic drive. Now all roads lead south. Good luck.
LOL !! Yep - the long way home !!
Fantastic journey! I live in the southern most City in Canada near the southern point and you were at the most Northern Point in Canada. A journey I will never make but it was wonderful watching yours
Thank you xx
Yes, most people wouldn't even want to do that journey...
That hat is in fact cool!😎
Trying to get excited for this place and still searching. I cannot believe they charged you $25 to park in what looks like a junkyard! Happy for you. Whatever rocks your boat I guess.
Perfect place for Wim Hof method ice baths! Lol congrats on a huge accomplishment, we are all very proud of y'all!!
LOL - yep !! I might need more practice to overcome the brain freeze !! M xx
Love the ending 👍🏻 You all should be honorary polar bear club members. 🥶😎
Thanks !!
Wow! When some people are content to retire drinking hot chocolate and toasting marshmallows, you braved the elements and navigated rough roads to reach such a cold, desolate and remote place on the face of the earth. Congratulations are in order you brave and hardy souls. And to your fellow travelers too. Have a safe trip back to where you can find a Starbucks! 😁👍
Wow, thank you!
I think the lorry that passed by you at 10:07 transported gravel for the road maintenance you later passed by. They are called belly dump trailers and you can dump the gravel on the road while you are slowly driving forward to spread it out. The grades flatten out afterward. The gravel will be taken from some location relative close by. Just search for "belly dump trailer" and you will see them in operation.
Thanks for the info Peter
So wonderful to watch. Thank you. Thank you.
well done! Everything in working order and lots of dust to keep you occupied 🤣
This is why I LOVE this channel!!!
Congrats on making it to the Arctic Ocean! What a cultural eye-opener though! Serious rest and recharge needed, you nutters... don't burn yourselves out! Xx
Thank you so much - we will indeed take a mini break !! xx
It takes a very special kind of crazy to take a dip in the Arctic Ocean! I’m sure the town appreciates the entertainment 😁 congratulations on your epic journey, you crazy kids.
Congrats, you made it!! What an amazing accomplishment! Wishing you a safe and more relaxing trip back to Vancouver.
Woo Hoo 🙌
Enjoyed the video?? I loved every sec of it. You brave lovin guys. Thx for the epic moment❤️🚐💨
Thanks Thomas - we appreciate your comment 🌷
Try closing the shade for your sky view. Try covering your fan vent in the ceiling . Take a big sheet or something and drape it on the inside of the door. See if that will keep most of the dust out.
The trucks were carrying stone/gravel, enjoying your adventure
I saw a third Ducato in the background in your photage from Tuk. What fantastic overland vehicles they are.
It’s called corrugations, or corro in auz.
Wow y'all are so brave for jumping...
Congratulations
The rippled dirt road is called washboard
Congratulations! You made it above the tree line to the Arctic Ocean and Maryanne is now a member of the polar bear club-Brain freeze and all!

Love you guys. I don’t know about jumping into the water 😂❤
I laughed until cried at the ending. I also would have done the Artic Dunk, but don't think I could have managed the back float. What an adventure!
Wow ! Thank you so much for being with us 🌺
I could tell that it was that cold…my screen froze. Recommended song for getting that far: freezer jolly good fellow 😆
Great achievement👍
Omg! Im 63 years old- but in my brain I’m still 23. Wish I was brave enough to do what you two are doing.
Thanks Tami !! Great to have you with us 🙌
Those vertical structures at 13:54 look very similar to the things that the Alaska Oil Pipeline uses to keep the permafrost from thawing out where their concrete pier bases go into the ground
Oh that is great to know - Chris and I did scratch our heads as we had never seen these before - so thank you for the information 🌺💕
Congratulations Marriane and Chris, you finally did it 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🤩🎉🎉🎉woohoo!
