I just came from a vacation in the most remote areas in Egypt. And I had the opportunity to connect with a fisherman and I was telling him how I find it hard to be in the moment. And that because I knew how it feels to be exactly there, it frustrates me even more that I cannt recall that feeling again. He said this happens because I connect everything to time. When Ammar said I feel bad that my 27 birthday is coming, I remembered what he meant by that. I guess this is the dilemma or our age TIME. Not COVID not climate change, but time. If we can just let everything be without our contestant attachment to time we would score much away better.

I really needed to hear this. I am so glad I clicked on this video. I personally have felt stuck for awhile now and covid has definitely pushed bad habits over my good ones. Hearing that other people are also fighting the same battles, makes the world a little less lonely of a place. Thank you guys

Recognize we go through cycles in experiencing growth. Please know the cycles are temporary. Like depression, for most of us, it is a temporary place. However, learning this means you can learn how to get out of it - the tools. Always look at how you have grown, the successes. Experiencing growth is not always easy or you might be aware.

Thanks for sharing! Super relatable. Meeting your self awareness with patience and compassion is important. From there one must take disciplined action which is much easier said than done. I loved the quotes and this reminded me of another: “Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.” -Bruce Lee
    (simplified) “Just Do It.” -Nike

For me, the process of change started with forgiveness. Forgiving the ones who did me wrong but more so, Forgiving myself for what I did and also for what was done to me. And covid helped by taking me to the depth of depression so I couldn't possibly continue neglecting my state of mind. When you forgive yourself, which is itself a long and painful process, then the process of taking care of yourself makes sense because now you are worthy of self-love. You are worthy of care. And then you naturally start giving it to others, too.

I relate a lot to Ammar. I have been working a lot on myself, learning about myself and growing spiritually but somehow I don’t actually go the way I know is right for me. Michael Singer’s teachings have helped me so much with self growth, learning to let go of the need to solve the feeling that makes me want to do something about it. Thank you for reminding me again

It's interesting to see how COVID affected everyone. Some people felt a wave of relief that they had more flexibility and time to breathe and do nothing. Some people became super hard on themselves for losing their momentum. But I think it just goes to show how we've really prioritized growth and productivity and "achieving" something over being present and going slow and appreciating life just because you exist

I think it’s really awesome that you guys are examining the “challenges” that you’re facing as you reach milestones in your life. Stagnation is a real issue that many people feel but I hope you come to realize something in this period of time…this is quite common and totally normal. The “stagnation” you are experiencing is a manufactured issue…it’s simply a perspective change that you are having. The transition from being a young man to what the self see as a grown-up usually starts in your late 20s to early 30s and it’s 100% normal. Because of Yes Theory and Seek Discomfort you have been living a highly dynamic lifestyle for quite a while now and so that transition is probably even more pronounced. Don’t let it become a bigger deal than it is…it’s a growth spurt it’s just occurring internally it’s less tangible and so it’s harder to recognize or measure but it’s no less significant.

About feeling stuck, maybe your next challenge is learning to lean into stillness, rest, stagnation. These things can feel uncomfortable but yet a feeling of perspective. Some people find peace in nothingness, some hate it. I think with everything in life there will always be someone that you don’t like and until you fully find the way to embrace those internal discomforts you’ll always be binded by them. Just like cold water, stagnation is a challenge to your present. I believe life happens for you and not to you and this continuous situation could just be a sign to you to slow down. I hope you guys can find a way to embrace you’re current life and continue to do what you love. We all love you so much xo from Canada 🇨🇦

The conversation around struggling with habits like exercise and eating well is an important one. For anyone struggling with this, I believe it is important to shift the perspective on what your consistency looks like. For example, we might say we want to work out 3 days a week. Understand why you want to do that, what is the outcome? Maybe the WHY is to make you body feel good. From there you can change "consistency" from meaning "work out 3 days a week" to being anything that feels good for your body that day.
We put too much pressure on ourselves (myself included) to do specific things for ourselves when we are often doing many different things for a common outcome. It changes how we view our process.

Hi Ammar and Thomas, Perfectly said podcast guys in so many ways 👏 Your courage to speak on this terrible time is glorious and I agree wholeheartedly on the ADHD schooling and stagnation feeling. I've run a business for 20+yrs and have spent a year hibernation. I'm feeling exactly like you guys have explained also... even after paying off a brutal 15 year 200K business loan (whilst not living with parents) 😔 I should be flying along now happy but forced stagnation left me feeling quite lost/stuck too atm.. I'm so thrilled to find you guys and I thank you in this time and appreciate all the love through connection you're truely spreading far and wide ❤

I can say preparedness could be the best answer to what you try to tell. Let me explain: no life is going to go smooth, and nothing is forever whether that is success or failure, whether that is doing something very productive or less productive and not doing anything. Each person is different from others, and therefore, self awareness and satisfaction differs as well. So, if you are satisfied with the progress you are making on day to day basis, I guess that is moving forward, if not, then that is being stagnant. We cannot compare our lives with others, but with where we were yesterday. Coming to preparedness part - the best way to get out of being stagnant is to plan, think of alternative of what you will do as soon as you get that opportunity and having that positive mindset towards it is what can keep you motivated and keep you active even during tough times. The best way to avoid the stress coming with it is; to keep yourself as much busy as you possibly can, even if that is doing something stupid.

How I’d go about answering Ammar’s question of stagnation vs misconception of state takes a detour at first.
I first try to evaluate whether or not even just taking measure is to my greatest good. Am I taking measure to see where I’m at, am I doing it preventively, am I doing it because I want to validate a fear from within and perhaps use it to subconsciously punish myself?
After figuring that mess out, sometimes you really do need to check it. At that point, it typically ends like this. There is always more room to grow, but sometimes expansion has to take a backseat so as to allow growing to fill the available space. You then continuously alternate between these states.
I can’t speak to anyone’s circumstances, I can only describe my own process. This is what I’ve observed, hope it helps! The trick is to always forgive yourself for the process, one which inevitably (and intentionally) requires lapses in forward momentum.
Forgive yourself, and love yourself. Nothing else works as efficiently.

Gosh. At times I wonder if Thomas is actually a psychologist - a therapist extraordinaire. 😉😉😉😉 But really, I wonder if Yes Theory members would take personality tests - like the DICS or MBTI. It would really be fun to then understand why they struggle differently. And that Covid forced people into using their Inferior functions, thus getting into grip stress. Extroverts like Ammar, for example, who thrive on connecting with people, really hard it tough....

Ammar, you are exhausting yourself with all the internal dialog in your head. Everything in nature must adapt to survive. You are being lazy and running away from healthier decision you can make.
