I think keeping a darker bass throughout the theme ( maybe triangle or pulse in place of what would be Cello / String Ensemble ) with a heavy reverb would make it more threatening afterward. Overall I like this concept a lot, makes me feel like a song you'd hear when his dialogue starts in a GBA era game.
