Thank you! But this is not a good video because there are many mistakes! So this video is completely nonsensical and historically wrong because the enlargement of Poland after the agreement on the Union of Krewo to include the Lithuanian territories is not shown, which in the history of Poland meant that Poland became an empire. Poland was an empire for centuries! This already proves the enormous size of the territory that the Polish king and the Polish parliament ruled. Why did Poland occupy Moscow in 1610? Why did the son of the Polish king become the Tsar of Russia? Out of imperial interest. Why did Poland rule the Ukrainian and Belarusian territories and all the other areas? Why did Poland control other areas as well? Out of economic interest, because the economic interests were also imperial interests. That goes hand in hand! By the way, an empire is usually a multi-ethnic state with political and military dominion of one ethnic group. Usually with one single imperial ruling ethnic group. And those were the Poles in this Polish Empire. The Poles ruled over various peoples and 5 different religious groups. The Poles ruled over the other peoples and in some cases also assimilated them. The Lithuanians were also controlled and assimilated by the Poles. Incidentally, it was a Polish empire, because the Poles were the nation in power. The Poles ruled the other peoples and partially assimilated them.
That is why the use of Lithuania in the name of the state is nonsensical, as it suggests a kind of equality that did not exist! The Polish term "Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów" used in the vdeo is also wrong for the same reason, namely because it suggests a kind of equality that did not exist! Because translated this Polish term means Rzeczpospolita of both nations! Anything but both nations. The Poles were completely dominant in this state and the Liatuans were almost completely assimilated. Only the Polish nation was relevant! And only the Polish! That was a Polish empire, which is why mentioning Lithuania in the state name is wrong. Unfortunately the term Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth based on a mistranslation is also used in the video. To call this state Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth is wrong. This term is wrong because the term Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth is a modern invention in connection with Poland. A nonsensical invention by historians that does not correspond to reality. Moreover, the term is being used incorrectly because the Polish Term Rzeczpospolita has been mistranslated as Commonwealth. So the term Commonwealth is used because of an incorrect translation. For that reason alone, one should not use this term. The term Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealt was not used at all in earlier times. It would be appropriate to speak of Rzeczpospolita is the traditional and official name of the Polish Empire as a whole, including all duchies and and all ruled territories. The name of the state Rzeczpospolita is a combination of rzecz "thing, matter" and pospolita "common", a calque of the Latin res publica (res "thing" + publica "public, common"), so the republic, incorrectly translated as Commonwealth in English. By the way, in Poland, the word Rzeczpospolita is used exclusively in relation to the Republic of Poland, while other republic is referred to in Polish as "republika". Used in international treaties and diplomacy, the state has been called the most serene ( most high) Rzeczpospolita Poland (Polish: Najjaśniejsza Rzeczpospolita Polska, Latin: Serenissima Res Publica Poloniae or also Rzeczpospolita of the Polish Kingdom or Rzeczpospolita of Poland. Its residents simply referred it in the everyday language as Rzeczpospolita or Poland occasionally also the crown. But the state was never called Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Never!!!
The term Rzeczpospolita seems difficult to pronounce for non-Poles. But that is not the case at all. With a little practice, anyone can pronounce the term correctly, even you. A little help: Rz is pronounced like the "isi" in vision. So virzon sounds like vision. Cz sounds like the "ch" in church. So Czurcz sounds like church. But if one just use "sh" instead of "rz", that sounds close to Polish. "Ch" can be used instead of "cz". So Shechpospolita would be written in English, which could be pronounced without problems. So there is no reason not to use this correct term.
The term Swedish Empire is also used, or even Danish Empire so the Polish Empire could also be used as an alternative to Rzeczpospolita for this state if one wants to use a modern term. I used the term above too.
Moreover, neither the rule of the Polish king over Sweden nor the rule of the Poles over Russia is shown. The expansion of the Polish king's power southwards with the rulership of Bohemia, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, parts of Croatia, Romania and Moldova is not shown either. The video is very bad because of these many errors.

@@owoc8260 By the way, Prussia was a completely backward state compared to the very advanced Poland. . Incidentally, Poland was a great power and an empire for centuries that Prussia never was! But what was special about the Polish empire was that according to the Polish Imperial Constitution of 1505 "Nihil novi" the Polish empire also became a de facto republic and the Polish empire actually called itself Rzeczpospolita which translated means republic. By the way the polish Imperial Constitution Nihil Novi from 1505 was the first democratic constitution ever. "Nihil novi", in this political sense, is interpreted as "Nothing about us without us"! This Constitution stipulated that the parliament (Sejm) must approve all new laws and that the king is only the head of the state with limited power elected for life (elective kingship). His real field was foreign policy. Poland had become an aristocratic republic and nobles' democracy with this Imperial Constitution Nihil Novi. This system provided equal rights for all nobles; the high nobility, who mostly had huge estates, were legally on a par with the simple, petty nobility according this constitution. !" Not the king, but the parliament elected by the nobility had the power for the most part of domestic politics! The nobility made up up to 10-15% of the population in the Polish Rzeczpospolita unlike in ruled despotically with the exception of England rest of Europe with 1%! The Lithuanian nobility, who were already largely Polonized, had the same rights as the Polish nobility through this constitution. In fact, the Polish nobility had won great privileges from the king long before that, so that despotism of an autocrat ruler in Poland was gone long before the constitution of 1505. However, this constitution was the product of previous reforms, because even before this constitution, the Polish nobility had enormous rights compared to the European nobility of other countries. In the Privilege of Jedlno of 1430, the Polish king gave the nobility a say in tax legislation and the legal certainty of being punished solely on the basis of due process and judgment (making Poland the first country to have civil rights enshrined in law). This limited democracy of the 1505 constitution was then reformed in 1791 with a new democratic constitution. Called the The Constitution of May 3rd! In terms of content, the constitution was based on the ideas of the Enlightenment, the declaration of human and civil rights and the reform discourses that had been taking place in Poland itself since the 16th century. The the democratically elected parliament (Sejm) was declared to embody the "omnipotence of the nation". The citizens got the same rights as the nobility. The government was subordinated to the parliament. The king should be elected as head of state. That is why the Polish constitution is considered the second democratic constitution in the world after the American constitution. Although that's actually not true, because the Polish constitution of 1505 was the first democratic constitution. Prussia like all of Germany against it would never be able to establish a democracy in their country. No matter whether in Prussia or in another German small state. Alos as a united state, they were incapable to democracy. History has proven that. They were only capable of democracy when the dictatorship was violently overthrown by foreign powers and there was a denazification and re-education campaign. In fact, they had to be beaten to democracy.
Unfortunately, the Russians or Poland or France did not take the opportunity to finally defeat and destroy Prussia when they had the opportunity. BecauseIt it would have been better for Europe if Russia had finally crushed Prussia when they had the chance to do that. Prussia's only remarkable achievement was to force the other German small states into a union. Prussia was able to do this because Prussia was the strongest German small states of the various small German states. This union together with the German small states outside this union was strong enough to defeat the French in 1871. The result of this victory was the establishment of a united Germany. The consequences of of this unification to the German state were catastrophic for Europe because the consequence of this state establishment were 2 world wars and the possibility for this nation to commit various genocides. The founding of this state in 1871 was a terrible catastrophe for Europe, and without Prussia, the founding of this state in 1871 would not have happened. It is a historical fact that these two world wars would not have happened with a total of 70 million deaths for Europe if the German small states had not succeeded in founding the united German state. This nation would not have mutated into a Nazi nation either! If Prussia had not existed and thus also no unified Germany, then there would not have been also almost 50 years of communist oppression in half of Europe. The communist victory in the fallen Russian Empire was the result of the First World War caused by Germany and Austria so the communist rule over the areas of the fallen Russian Empire would never have existed without Germany like the later successes of the communists after the 2nd World War through the communists could occupy half of Europe and force the nations there to embrace communism. So NO world wars, NO genocides, NO immeasurable destruction and NO strong communism. This multiple NO would be the result of the destruction or considerable weakening of Prussia. Because Prussia made this German state possible in the first place. That was actually the only relevant achievement by Prussia! Unfortunately, when the Poles had the opportunity to do so, they did not destroy Prussia! Too bad for Europe! Others also had the opportunity to destroy Prussia or to weaken it decisively. So the French, the Poles and the Russians. unfortunately didn't use the opportunity to destroy Prussia either.

What few people know is the fact that Romania was an ally of Poland in 1939 who was ready to fight alongside Poland as a reliable ally. Romania immediately agreed to support Poland and was ready to fight. But the Polish government has rejected the Romanians' offer of support. Poland felt that the support of Romanian troops would be unnecessary. Because Poland was completely certain of victory. It was a fact that Poland, with the French and British, were completely superior to the Germans in 1939. Little did the Poles suspect that these cowardly allies would betray Poland and not attack. Nobody in Poland could imagine such madness. Such a lousy betrayal.

Thanks! That's very nice of you!
The Polish term "Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów" used in the video is also wrong for the same reason, namely because it suggests a kind of equality that did not exist!

Is it that both Hungary and Poland were squashed between two or more Great Powers for centuries, sometimes taking land from those Powers but often losing land to those same Powers? That is, sometimes existing but for the grace of other nations, and sometimes expanding because of the courage of armies?

    • @GreatPolishWingedHussars
      @GreatPolishWingedHussars 2 года назад

@@james6401 This claim is not correct. Becuase Poland was not squashed between two Great Powers for centuries. This condition only existed for a relatively short period of 47 years from 1871 to 1918. Namely when the German small states finally succeeded in founding a united German state in 1871 after 1000 years of wars against each other. Only then there were two great powers occupying Poland. Before 1871 there was only one great power that was Poland's enemy, that was Russia. Because neither Prussia nor Austria were great powers. Even in a weakened state at the end of the 18th century, Poland could have repelled both Austrian and Prussian attacks. Even when Poland was completely weakened at the end of the 18th century Poland still had enough economic potential to mobilize armies. So the Poles at the end of the 18th century were quite capable of mobilizing relatively large armies for defense. Neither Austria nor Prussia would have been able to defeat and to destroy Poland alone. Poland still had military potential, as was particularly evident in Kościuszko Uprising in which Poland fought against the Russian Empire, Austria and Prussia. Before the Kościuszko Uprising in 1794 there was the Polish-Russian War of 1792, which also makes it clear that Poland was defeated by Russia and not by the Austrians and Prussians as well. In this war Poland also won battles like the Battle of Zielńce. How weak Prussia was shows that Prussia really only sent an army of 1000 men against the Polish rebels. ONLY 1000 MEN! This small ridiculous Prussian army was then defeated by a far superior in number Polish army in the Battle of Bromberg in 1794. The Prussian commander-in-chief was killed in this battle too. The ridiculous Prussians also tried to besiege the Polish capital Warsaw with only 25,000 soldiers. The Poles had mobilized over 49,000 men and expelled the Prussian troops. Thanks to the mobility of the forces, of General Dąbrowski Polish troops have even advanced into Prussian Pomerania. Also in the Battle of Rajgród the Poles defeated the Prussians when they tried to fight against Poland without the support of the Russian Empire. So Prussia was unable to fight Poland alone and could only hold onto the small Polish territories with the support of the Russian Empire. For example, in the Battle of Szczekociny June 1794, the Prussians needed the help of the Russian Empire to defeat Poland.
The Russian Empire fought alone against the Polish troops in most battles of this war. The Poles also proved their military potential against the Russians when the Poles defeated the Russian Empire in the Battle of the Polish Kościuszko Uprising like the Battle of Racławice or the two successful Polish Uprisings of Warsaw and Wilno. There were also other victories against the Russians. So the Polish armies also achieved some victories in some battles, but then in the end the numerical superiority led to the victory of the Russian Empire. The dwarf Prussia would have been able to defeat Poland on its own because in fact the Russian Empire won most battles against Poland without Prussian participation. The difference was that the Russian Empire did not need Prussian support, but Prussia could not defeat Poland alone. The same applies to Austria. In fact, the Austrians did not take part in this war at all and only benefited from the victory of the Russians.
The small two part of Poland that Austria and Prussia received of Poland were actually a gift from the Russians. The Russian Empire annexed most of Poland. At this time the Russian Empire annexed the Crimea and wanted to take more areas from the Ottomans. The Russian Empire wanted to prevent a conflict with Prussia and Austria at the same time of the war with the Ottomans. So the Russian Empire left relatively small areas of Poland to Prussia and Austria. Because together Prussia and Austria could have caused trouble for the Russians when the Russians were at war with the Ottomans. If the Russian Empire hadn't the conflict with the Ottomans at that time, the Russian Empire would have annexed all of Poland. So Poland was not squashed between two Great Powers for centuries but Poland was dominated by the Russian Empire in the 18th century and then destroyed at the end of the 18th century.

I must say the national identity the polish displayed through their history even as it was shattered twice, inspires respect.
I mean, besides Israel (but that is a very particular case) I can't think of a country that got completely erased of the map several times, and once for over a century, and then reforming because the locals kept struggling against their conqueror's influence. That's the definition of patriotism.
Props to the Polish, who are still around stronger than ever even after biting the dust continuously for near on two centuries. Be proud of your historical and cultural heritage.

poland and ottoman empire were fighting in history but after the sharing of polish kingdom between prussia, austria and russia, turkish emperor asked "where is polish ambassador" everytime when he gathered ambassadors from different countries. and the grand vizier replied him in a way that everyone will hear, "he is late because of obstacles on the road". because ottoman empire didnt accept the sharing of polish kingdom and they believed that poland would be rebuilt. and this is repeated for a long time. up to the re-established date of the polish state...

Polish are wonderful people. Poland is a beautiful country. God bless the Polish.
Japan rescued 765 Polish orphans in Siberia in 1920, 1921 and 1922.During World War I, the Polish fled to Siberia. The number of Polish people in Siberia was about 200,000. In 1917, the Russian Revolution broke out. In 1918, World War I ended and Poland regained its independence. The Polish tried to return to Poland.
However, the Polish could not return home because of the Russian civil war. And the Polish life became poor and food was gone. Many Polishes died. An adult Polish made the child eat the last food. An adult Polish died before the child. And the children became orphans.Polish orphans lost their family in Siberia and were hungry without food. Poland asked different countries to save Polish orphans. But every country refused to save the orphans. Finally, Poland asked Japan to rescue the orphans.Japan soon decided to save the Polish orphans. Japan found and rescued a Polish orphan walking in Siberia crying. We Japanese did our best to rescue Polish orphans. Japan sent a total of 765 Polish orphans to Japan. The orphans were weak. And the orphans were ill.Japan gave orphans a warm meal. And Japan treated the disease of orphans. The disease of all orphans has been cured. The orphans have recovered. Many donations were collected for orphans from all over Japan. Toys were also donated. The orphans treat Japanese who take care of them like a mother.Japanese also loved the orphans as their own children. The Empress of that time also loved the orphans as their own children. Polish orphans had a good time every day.The diet of the orphans was nutritious and gave a delicious meal.On the day of parting, the orphans cried crying that they did not want to leave Japan. The Japanese also shed tears at the farewell with the orphans. Polish orphans sang the Japanese national anthem "kimigayo" and the Polish national anthem on the ship. All 765 Polish orphans returned safely to Poland. Japan loves Poland. If something happens to Polish children, Japan will help again.Japan handed out the Virgin Mary prayer card to all orphans. Polish orphans who always had it survived the war and lived until they were over 80 years old.And during the Second World War, the Japanese “chiune sugihara” saved more than 6,000 Jews. Many Japanese are Buddhists. There is also a teaching not to kill creatures and animals. So there are many vegetarians in Japanese. Many Japanese are very opposed to killing animals and creatures. We Japanese love Polish people. Polish are wonderful people. Poland is a beautiful country. God bless the Polish.

And their invasions were on land through Manchuria, not across the sea. Throughout 5 thousand years of our history, we had more than 10 major invasions of more than 50 thousand enemy soldiers each, and if we count smaller invasions, we were attacked hundreds of times. Out of all those, there was only one invasion across the sea. All the other were through land. Thanks! That's very nice of you!
The Polish term "Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów" used in the video is also wrong for the same reason, namely because it suggests a kind of equality that did not exist!
Thanks! That's very nice of you!
The Polish term "Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów" used in the video is also wrong for the same reason, namely because it suggests a kind of equality that did not exist!

IMO Would have been better if you superimposed it over modern borders for orientation. Also I noticed you haven't included the 1951 Polish-Soviet territorial exchange, but it's a detail.
Surprisingly well done for such a small channel! You'll grow fast.
