I really wanna know how it works with weapons. Based on how weak you are here it makes me think that as you go on through the game this reset mechanic should allow you to get further than you did before but i don’t see how that can be without keeping levels and weapons
I just saw this reposted by a Chinese gamer on Weibo, which led me here. This looks really impressive, especially the VFX design, which is reminiscent of the original release rather than the remaster. The British accent voiceover is top-notch and very Souls-esque too, lol.
What do you mean? One of the most important things Fromsoft tries to convey to the player is that you are not some plot armored protagonist. In every game you are literally just some random dude with nothing special about you. You can swing a sword and cast magic and you resurrect when you die. Yeah, so can literally everyone else. The only game where this sort of isn't the case is Bloodborne, where only certain chosen hunters can go to the Hunters Dream.
@@nathanwhiting5475 At the same time we are a random dude, we are the protagonist as well. Even in Dark Souls, we are not actually a random dude, in our world we are the main character. In Bloodborne it's the same thing. Hunters only exist in the dream, but you are THE Hunter of your dream, as far as I know as the reality outside the dream is something we do not know how it is. Bloodborne may well be a fever dream where you are actually trapped in there by a demi-god who controls both reality and dreams and the old man we see at the start is only making it easier by injecting you something like a serum to make you stay asleep.
@@nathanwhiting5475 Sekiro. I also feel as though the famous "you are literally just some random guy" talking point with the soulsgames overall is slightly overstated. You're only some random if you don't beat the game. You might not have fancy lore in your background prior to the game's start, but you are essentially forging those accomplishments in the game itself. Don't get me wrong, you're definitely a random at the start of every game. But I think by the endgame, you've proven that you were much more than that.
@@ClareAmel well not really, cause dark souls is pretty much explicit about that, you could do or become anything but it won't matter. You are surely the hero of your own story, but you are just a small part of the world you are in, you can't change the flow of it because you are just one. "the chosen one" it's a construct its literally everyone that happens to reach lordran and can be something to burn in the fire. And even if you understand the sin that is to vincle the fire and chose not to do it yourself, there will be another one to do it at your place, and the age of fire will continue, forcing the world to another repeat of the cicle. Until the world can't take it anymore and the fire stops burning like it used to burn, even if a strong souls sacrifice itself into it. You were never someone who could impose itself alone in the world, and you couldn't change the flow of it. The point it's not that you are the hero, but that you persevere and keep going forward even if your choices doesn't directly matter
I have so many questions. That guy in Izaleth isn't the same one sitting on the ledge in the asylum, so who was there and why would they leave a weapon for some random undead?
@@赴大家惡化不得好死時 That's who that person looks like indeed, though I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be a completely new character to begin with. :)

The way you can see the Chosen Undead running away after killing Gwyn reminds me a lot of that scene from Half Life: Opposing Force, where you can see Freeman jumping on the portal
The Blistering Demon in a mod that doesn't make movement better would be unfair and turn a lot of people off. I'm glad that enemies and the player get a speed boost even when not in Sprite Mode.

So it seems. When the Chosen Undead instead chooses to become the Dark Lord and abandons the First Flame to fade away. I wonder who our playable character is supposed to be in all this. A Hollow with a mission to restore the Age of Fire? Or simply someone trying to find his/her own purpose in this new, dark world? _(UUUUUURGH, I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE THIS TEAM'S VISION OF AN AGE OF DARK!)_
@@nickg131 If it were so simple as that, how in the hell did the Undead Asylum ended up spawning right on top of the Klin of the First Flame? Also, I was mostly refering to the resolve of our character. Is he/she just a Hollow trying to find purpose in life? Is he/she embarking on a quest to rekindle the Age of Fire? Or are their motivation something else entirely? That was my main point.
I've never imagined a sequel from this perspective! It's going to feel crazy picking the knight class and looting Oscars body for the starting gear, this character would never even know the backstory behind the loot! So much potential and the gameplay looks great!
@@franklyput I was thinking about the “eleven cinders” after the third (I think?) death to the boss lol, but yeah 12 is the more relevant number, so thanks lmao

the sound production on the voice acting alone is incredible, not to mention the voice acting itself, fuck me it took me a second to realise that wasn't rehashed dialogue, sounded so fitting. Cannot wait for the final release, massive props to the whole team.
Now this is interesting, A hollow suddenly regaining their sentience, witnessing the birth of the Dark Lord, and-I assume-journeying to light the Fire once more. The risk-reward of removing the Sprite for healing but losing that dash looks to be fun. The decreasing number of cinders also hold my curiosity. What happens when they all run out? Do you go back to the Kiln, or does the Fire fade forever? I can't wait to play this
The detail of the Silver/Black Knights in the Kiln becoming non-harmful Humanity Sprites as ypur character exits because these are the beginning stages of the Age of Dark is such a cool detail.
_Oh my Lords almighty,_ WHY didn't I discover this sooner?! Congratulations on that Blissful Demon, he looks absolutely gorgeous! Man, this looks incredible, I will definitely give it a try when it's out. Though I feel like increasing the player's damage by at least 100% would help a lot since it takes way too long to kill enemies. Apart from that, this is one of the best looking mods I've ever seen!
Defeats the purpose of where the story starts. The boss looks easy enough to kill with pitiful damage and the hollows are pretty straight forward. It is Los Izaleth after all and your character starts with nothing unlike the chosen undead.
@@IveBeenWithBruma You fight a taurus demon, an early boss even in the main game. It isn't a strong enemy in particular. It shouldn't take that long to beat even if you start with practically nothing. This is no different than fighting the Asylum Demon with the straight sword hilt.
Yall gotta realize he wasn't trying to kill the boss. We were guided as to not spoil anything. The blade has a good bit of bleed damage meaning if you chain strikes together now you're golden like Godrick. Meaning play aggressive or deal no damage. Further increased by the first boss vomiting lava like a freestyle rapper on a 90s beat making the boss room more dangerous for the pc. Cool design need to get a good pc to play it soon :)
Wait, not sure but it looks like a time system; you have certain amount of time to finish the game before no cinders remain, if you fail, you can always use the pendant to go back. This is more than amazing
But wouldn't the world have gone completely pitch black if the Chosen One let the First Flame fade away to make way for the Age of Dark a la DS3's The End of Fire ending?
@@BushBumperBaker I don’t think so. In DS3 when you choose the age of dark ending the fire keeper says one day tiny embers will dance around or something like that. Pretty much it’s just a cycle no matter what.
It wouldn't happen instantly, which I imagine is why this mod has a Majora's Mask-type time limit. The first flame is currently on its last few embers since it hasn't been linked, and your character holds those last few cinders; once the last cinder goes away, then the world actually goes pitch black.
I love the blistering demon, it’s the proto fire demon from Ds3. And to me the reason it pops up in the mod is because the bed of chaos was killed and now the chaos flame is out of control and just pumping out crazier and more powerful demons, pretty frik’n cool

@@budingiesy0 DS2 is more of a side sequel than a sequel so it gets some stuff wrong, like for example implying that a strong feeling can turn a person into a demon, which isn't the case. As for DS3 if I remember correctly the flame is definitely dead as you find multiple bodies of dead demons and even fight the last of Demonkind,.I took a look now and the Demon Prince soul does quote that a demon can "rekinlde" the Chaos flame. To my defense though it's a new description. Still at the time of Nightfall the flame of Chaos is virtually dead, if you must "connect" to the sequels then you could say only its cinders remain, but you still effectively killed Demonkind.
@@scorpion5574 ok thank you, but my point was that they kept pumping out new ones for a while or at least a short while, but if we forget about Ds2 that means a champion among the demons rekindled the chaos flame after we wrecked the bed of chaos. What you were probably trying to say was "He would have been the first Sovereign (or Supreme Lord) after Gwyn, who was the Lord of Flame, while Chosen Undead would be the first Dark Lord and the second World Monarch".
I've played Dark Souls overhaul mods, but nothing like THIS. I'm excited to see more of the mod, keep going friends!

@@thewholecircus2792 Personally Remastest (thats the actual name) is my favorite. it re-balanced a lot of stuff and also adds team deathmatch and a TTT style gamemode.

Really starting to question my console allegiance after seeing this... Well done!! really impressed and hopefully someone from Fromsoft will see this and feel proud that they created a game that has generated enough passion in its player base to spur people to do amazing work like this.
I mean, people have modded their games for years. There's a guy who modded in an actual gun system into DS1.
I'm not saying this isn't impressive (although, personally, I'd rather see more before I make a judgement), I'm just saying this mod wouldn't spur a feeling a pride that hadn't already started years before, not to mention just how popular DS1 is on its own.
This is incredible, just wait until a big youtuber catches on to this and then it will really take off

The twelve cinders feel like some kind of "Zelda: Majora's Mask" mechanic of reset. How much does it affect the story/gameplay?
it'll probably do for souls what it did for zelda. taking gamey concepts and contextualizing them in a way that actually makes sense. like repeating dialogue in zelda or respawning npcs in souls
I really wanna know how it works with weapons. Based on how weak you are here it makes me think that as you go on through the game this reset mechanic should allow you to get further than you did before but i don’t see how that can be without keeping levels and weapons

While From spent all that time building up to elden leaks the community was making HollowKnight Souls
idk what to say, but this is epic, and i'm commenting for the algorithm
I really like the idea of a souls game where you aren't the main character, that twist start is so appealing to me
well, you are the main character considering you begin at the end of the character’s story from dark souls.

So basically this take place after your character DOESN'T link the fire and ushers in the age of Man?

That was my main point.
seeing those cutscenes play out from another perspective early on, goosebumps man, goosebumps!
I've never imagined a sequel from this perspective! It's going to feel crazy picking the knight class and looting Oscars body for the starting gear, this character would never even know the backstory behind the loot! So much potential and the gameplay looks great!

the sound production on the voice acting alone is incredible, not to mention the voice acting itself, fuck me it took me a second to realise that wasn't rehashed dialogue, sounded so fitting.
Parts of him feel like something out of an oldschool Diablo game, but still 100% fitting to the Dark Souls aesthetic. I can't emphasize enough how much I love this boss you guys have created!
Gwyn dying as you show up and the player from Dark Souls 1 choosing the Dark Ending right in front of you. 👌immaculate.
Oh wow, from the first 2 minutes, I didn't expect this to be this cool.
I've never wanted a Dark Souls mod before now. Good shit, dude.
It is Los Izaleth after all and your character starts with nothing unlike the chosen undead.
i feel like just a small increase would work
@@IveBeenWithBruma You fight a taurus demon, an early boss even in the main game.
I watch this at least 10 times a day. Even tho my pc is trash, I still can't wait for this mod to be developed

But wouldn't the world have gone completely pitch black if the Chosen One let the First Flame fade away to make way for the Age of Dark a la DS3's The End of Fire ending?
@@ancient9270 The Age of Dark I believe ENDS the cycle.
@@BushBumperBaker I don’t think so. In DS3 when you choose the age of dark ending the fire keeper says one day tiny embers will dance around or something like that. Pretty much it’s just a cycle no matter what.
@@BushBumperBaker someone always links the fire, even if it’s not you
It's called Nightfall for a reason. You're witnessing the sun...setting...
Night approaches.
...
It wouldn't happen instantly, which I imagine is why this mod has a Majora's Mask-type time limit. The first flame is currently on its last few embers since it hasn't been linked, and your character holds those last few cinders; once the last cinder goes away, then the world actually goes pitch black.
It's just so beautiful seeing what a strong and bounded community like this one can do. Hoping to see more, keep on keeping on!
This is absolutely INSANE! WOW!
This is absolutely brilliant, the art the sounds the story the gameplay everything. Unbelievably good.
I love the blistering demon, it’s the proto fire demon from Ds3. And to me the reason it pops up in the mod is because the bed of chaos was killed and now the chaos flame is out of control and just pumping out crazier and more powerful demons, pretty frik’n cool
I meant what keeps it in check is dead, the witch of Izalith and the supposed two daughters.
@@budingiesy0 Yeah but the flame of Chaos dies with the Bed of Chaos.
@@scorpion5574 then how come more demons keep coming up? And in the dlc for Ds2 the old chaos is the threat, if the chaos flame dies along with the witch of izalith then how come it’s still going in Ds2? And they even mention in Ds3 that a champion among the demons uses their own soul to rekindle the chaos flame similar to us. Or did I get it completely wrong? If so please fill me in on what exactly happened.
So I wonder if that’s gonna be the lore for this mod? Like a demon strolled up and just rekindled the chaos after we killed it? Seems WAY too fast for them to figure out they could do that.
