Any tips on just using an elastic waist? Should I increase my seam allowance?
For an elastic waist, you have to make sure the waist is big enough to pull over your hips. Likely you'd need to miss out the darts completely, and even the waist shaping on the side seams might need to be reduced. It depends on your own figure.
simplesewing Thank you, I did omit the smaller darts and will still include the waist shaping...to see how it all goes!
How much fabric do I need for this kind of skirt, is 2 yards enough?
Yes. It depends on how big you are making it, and how wide the fabric is. The one in the video was made from a piece just over one metre, I guess 1.5 yards, at a width of 150cm (60")
