Shut up and take my money, again! Astra was the first voice pack I bought back in 2017 and game was never the same again! Let's just say that with version 2.0 I will have 6 crew members in ED!! The immersion the voice pack brought to the game was amazing! When I built a new PC I forgot the install the voice packs and started giving orders and no one answered I was "what the hell?? Where did everyone go?" Stop the game, logout and install everything and go back in!So for me it's impossible to play without with HCS voice packs! So thank you for your hard work!👍👍👍👍

Outright buy, correct. We've put in a lot of work, in fact, an entire rework - This is a new product entirely... Like for like replacement of audio and some! It is discounted already. Check out the pre-order page. More demo's soon, including the entire backstory of Astra ;)

For first time buyers, is there a list or category of phrases for what's considered "core responses"? I see there's a note it currently having 2800 responses & more responses coming in the future, but what's going to be there at launch? I saw mining stuff was mentioned for Ad-Astra, but that requires another voice pack, further confusing me lol because it said Ad-Astra would be getting updates in Q3 on the Astra 2.0 page.
It's been a 7 years since i last had voice attack with the original Astra. Now I'm back on elite and need the all new Astra!

If we owned astra before , and just signed up on the yearly sub, do we have a third purchase to make astra updated ?
First, Ad-Astra, for all subscribers, will ALSO see this new voice replace Ad-Astra's current iteration... However, because they "subscribe" to Ad-Astra they're already paying - it's a free update for that subscription :). Otherwise, I refer to our comments in the video for "Astra 2.0" which means you need to buy it. We will continue to support the existing Astra, however, we are replacing the product on the store, with like-for-like audio etc... You can buy it, or choose not to, but Astra 2.0 isn't free for anyone. Total transparency here, and we're doing our best to keep everyone happy.
@@hcsvoicepacks subscribing yearly is probably your best idea. People love side-grades and paying for them. This however, is completely reworked, and great it's free! Fine either way. You've put in a tremendous amount of work and should be able to live your life as you want because of it.
What is your current thoughts on doing this with Star Citizen?
I have very much enjoyed Astra's company in the verse.
I realize SC keeps making changes, and it could be difficult to make constant changes to your product to keep up.
So just curious.

What the heck is this? I see a bunch of links and a bunch of packs to buy, I'm confused as to what gives what. Do you have to buy separate packs for ship controls and exobiology? Do you need to buy voice attack? Please point me to a "for dummies" explainer of what exactly you can get and for how much.
You raise a very good point. One we've been discussing today. We're really appearing here to be marketing to previous users of our product and this is something we are addressing between now and Easter. All of our products require you have a voice control software app - this app is called VoiceAttack. You install it, train windows to better understand you, then use preconfigured scripted voice phrases to give commands. In turn, voiceattack plays a sound file and presses your key bind. It's essentially a peripheral for voice control - We add the theatrical elements to create immersion, with the feeling of a real ships AI. If you'd like, visit our Discord channel where we can explain much more. We hire a lot of top sci-fi actors to record the commands... And we have hundreds of thousands of users.
I'm a subscriber I believe, so good news! Have you thought, or maybe already did, of her helping us learn commands? For example, when playing in VR I can't easily get to my clipboard. If i could ask "how can you help me"... fly my ship, land on a planet, etc. Like online help. Hope that makes sense.
We are (Paul Watson) looking at designing a category-based help system, however, that will still be voice-based, and something you'll still need to learn - Until our real-world Ai element of the voice packs comes to fruition (not anytime soon), there isn't a lot we can do. Overlays and virtual desktops for VR are what some use.

Please give Astra 2.0 actual AI functions, such as Inara (or your own) database integration for finding materials or any data queries for any real-time (or nearly) info. Example: "Astra, where's the nearest tellerium?" Or "Astra, where's the best gold price to sell nearby?", or 'Astra, find me the nearest Military settlement in anarchy so I can murder-loot them freely for the good mats." Astra could reply with the standard technically correct data and also add in the popular sources as well. "Tellerium can be found on the surfaces of such and such type bodies, but I hear there is a shit-ton on HIP 36601 4 a (or whatever it is), would you like me to plot a course there?" That is what I want from a co-pilot. Especially one that is supposed to be AI anyways.
Coming right up ;) - For those that want it. And for those that don't, they'll just get the stoic stuff. Catering for everyone is our objective.
Have you seen the extended version of Astra (Ad-Astra)... It has live data. You should take a look. It does plenty of what you're speaking of. More planned.
@hcsvoicepacks will have to check it out. I have been meaning to reinstall on the new rig and update. I have a few of the voice packs from a couple years ago. Time to dust em off, or rather clear their throats..

A French version requires a lot of work from the French community. And a large uptake. If the French community reach out, it would be considered. Astra is fluent in French, however, she will need direction too. We never say no... We just know it's a task for the French community in assisting us, with most of the work required. That's two people well versed in not VoiceAttack and theatre
Meh, having tried HCS, I still prefer EDDI as my onboard AI of choice. Nothing against HCS, just EDDI is more... 'personally configurable'... as and when I need it. Still, It's nice to see that an addon for Elite is still being developed, especially now that FDev have committed to keeping Elite going.

Is the new voicepack ChatGPT driven?
No. Real world Ai is not ready for gaming. There are too many dependencies right now, including poor latency. You cannot beat the speed of what we have now. When it is ready to implement, we will. Like many of you out there, we're very excited about real world Ai, after all, the lore behind the packs is based very much on real Ai and the mystery of sentient Ai. The characters (some of them) are right out of the science fiction story by Paul Watson, 'The Quantum Neural Network' - Yet to be released in its own right. We want AI for gaming, and it'll arrive in the future. We're working on it. For now, we have something very special that works beautifully.
What's with the cat noises? It would be pretty darn good without those.
I had the ship's cat aboard. That's another product, but you don't have to have the cat. Or, if you did have it, you can throw from the airlock, as we added a command for it :)
I already own the origanl ASTRA will I need to buy this again or will it be a free update?

I was expecting them to say it was based on a context aware AI system. My biggest issue was always needing to know what specifically to say to trigger something quickly. I gave up on Elite a while back so I guess it doesn't matter.
One day we will try and use Ai for real. But for now, nothing comes close to well designed, simulation of Ai. Not at least until we get some middleware to house an AI locally on our home networks. All the API calls are required from current AI means it'll remain flawed for use with games, and just not fast enough for the purpose of key presses and response. Hope you come back someday ;)

There have been massive and free updates for Astra for many years. There still are and that continues. That's good value and our customers have made it clear how much they've appreciated that along with everything we've provided including even free voice packs. But this is a total rework. And it isn't something you must have either. It's optional. Plus it's revenue to a business that takes very good care of making sure customers get free updates and good value. It's in our ethos to do nothing less than deliver a great experience and to keep it fresh.
Yeah mate, for something made 10 years ago, I'll glady buy it again if it means improvements. They always do an excellent work, and it's not the price of a car or anything. In fact I'd consider even paying more than the current price lol.
I think you misunderstood my comment. I wasn't arguing for a free product for those who own the first version.
