I find a lot of guys who transition to the sport hit the information overload wall, or "too many cooks in the kitchen" explaining different philosophies before the basics are automatic. I hope Eddie has had a great chance to get a foundation, so that all of this nuance makes sense. Develop one skill at a time and when that's set, build on those skills.
It’s not rocket science and WAY too many pro pullers turn people with massive potential away by giving them training advise that contradicts each other which can be confusing. That was one of the issues that Larry Wheels was having when he started. You ONLY need the big 3: 1. Cupping 2. Pronation 3. Side pressure The rest, including back pressure, are strengths that guys like Eddie Hall already have so training those big 3 to start is all that you need
Maybe with Brian, not with Eddie so much. He has already torn biceps and pecs throughout the years, not 2 mention he's never dedicated. Smaller wrist n hand , Eddie could make a spectical of the sport tho n bring eyes 2 it.
Brian has a lot of training under his belt, so it would be difficult for Eddie to achieve a similar level, in such a short time. Looking forward to it though! 💪😀👍
The only thing Eddie is better at right now is position at the table fitting the table. Brian has admitted he's had problems setting up at the table the table isn't big enough for him. It's his main issue. He's unique really tall and really wide and bulky at the same time. Devon said he'll sort this out his positioning. His outright power and hand strength without question is already there in abundance.
It should take all of a half hour with Devon to get his position right. If Cleave Dean could fit at a table, I think Devon will figure out a way for Brian.
It is an interesting match up because Eddie is actually stronger than Brian in most lifts, but Brian has a much stronger hand and longer levers. Like you said, Eddie needs to get to the straps every time. I think Brian wins this time, mainly because he's been training much longer.
Lets be honest here. Eddie has never been a technical athlete, even during strongman. Its argued that he won WSM 2017 as the contest was heavily stacked with static events which he could do in his sleep. Eddie is strong, he can lift, press etc, but when it comes to the technicalities he'd rely on power. Brian will be loving the arm wrestling, because small technical aspects make a BIG difference, and he feeds off that, and thats what we'll see at KOTT. Eddie trained for nearly a year for his boxing match with Thor, and once in the ring it all went out the window, and once Brian starts yanking on his arm, it'll be the same.
The best thing Eddie can do is go to the training nights at club torture with Paul Maiden as he needs to arm wrestle multiple people and absorb little bits of information from each hand, it's by far the best arm wrestling gym in the UK and it's not actually that far from his home.
I coach boxing and it amazes me how many hold their breath when punching . This is why we punch the body . Every time a body punch lands or is expected the opponent tightens up and holds their breath . A good body puncher will literally deplete you of oxygen in an already tough environment
Eddie has spent his entire adult life training for brute strength. He relies on his elite level strength for most everything. He tore his bicep throwing a punch while training to box Thor. He tore his tricep just recently shoulder pressing with 100kg dumbbells. What are the odds that Eddie tears a muscle during the Shaw match?
I met Eddie the same time. I met Brian at worlds strongest man in South Carolina. People forget Eddie is a giant too. He’s 6 foot 3 1/2 inches but he’s built like a tank. If this was a MMA match, I would have my money on Eddie. He has been training that for like two years now.
Ray, you didn't watch karate kid from 1984? The comments are from that movie. (nvm you already answered the question earlier) It's a nice classic movie.
Another nice video. The saying : “Man who catch fly with chopstick, accomplish anything.” is a quote from the movie The Karate Kid by Mr. Miyagi to the young Daniel LaRusso.
Your nickname is more than earned. I'd love if you could help Brian with detailed breakdowns of what he's doing, what Eddie's doing and what other have done. Yeah, it's a lot of info, but I think you could make it digestible. Brian vs Eddie is one thing. Brian vs the future is another. And yeah, it would be great to have someone like you in his corner. Devon is incredible, but I'm not sure he's the best trainer/coach for a beginner IMO. Use your knowledge. Love arm wrestling! ;)
Don't forget. Eddie is smart. Knows his muscle groups. Pro Athlete, top competitor. I feel like he's not being overloaded with info. He probably is distracted with the MMA fight coming up tho.
You know when eddie follows neils cues he really does start moving like an armwrestler. that's really hard to do as a beginner and that just goes to show how damn good neil can teach armwrestling and also by proxy how much he understands the sport.
Eddie is gonna get smoked by Brian. He's not disciplined enough. Look at him with the boxing. Thor was way more disciplined and committed, and destroyed him. Eddie will need to overcome his ego before he has a dream of beating Brian. Brian is obsessive, and humble, and listens, and stays committed.
Eddie knows Brian is Stronger and With Devon Larrat training Brian in the upcoming weeks as Devon just posted a video in his channel talking about it, Brian is gonna destroy Eddie..😂
Seems like Eddie is very prone to opening up, like it's going to be easy for Brian to get his arm(maybe, I haven't watched Brian's practices but I don't have too much faith in Eddie)
Noticed that too. Brian is clunky for sure, but his side pressure looks genuinely scary. I don't think Eddies gonna like the feel of it, and will try to run, which I bet will lead to him doing that sort of open toproll that won't last very long, if at all
If Eddie's boxing is anything to go by, all of this is gonna fly out of hos head as soon as the match starts. Which is fine since this is just about experience and money.

The arm wrestling community needs to stop overloading these guys with training advice. You’re not reinventing the wheel, and it isn’t rocket science. Most newcomers really only need cupping, pronation, and side pressure training. And how they approach that NEEDS to be left up to them and what works for THEM through trial and error. A good example of bad training advice is whenever Devon advocates for his style of training, which is unorthodox and will likely NOT work for anyone else but him, so it shouldn’t be taken as gospel. A lot of pros tend to contradict each other in terms of what they claim is the most important movement or strength, which can confuse a lot of new guys.
I would love Lalas to get back to armwrestling, he is the only top strongmen who started as an arm wrestler, heal your injuries Vytautas and come back please
@audriulis what about Magnus Samuelsson wasn’t he an arm wrestler? In 1995 world, strongest man had an arm wrestling event and he broke someone’s hand. I believe he won the event because of his experience with arm wrestling prior to strongman.
Eddie does have advantages. He's waayyy more explosive than Brian, he's got stronger shoulders, chest & triceps too. There are tools to win but I think Brian will be too strong
It all comes down to strength through at the hand. There are some guys with mediocre upper arm and core strength that nevertheless have more connection and strength through the hand. The have to be born with the angle/leverage advantages.
@lampwick-et8ez yeah everyone is betting on Brian Shaw and putting Eddie Hall as the underdog; however if I were a betting man, I’d actually place a bet for Eddie Hall to win. I think it might be a shocking upset because no one is expecting it so the odds would be good for a payout if I was placing a bet. Now I might be rooting for Brian and perhaps even expecting him to win, but if I had to place a bet I’d bet on Eddie if that makes sense.
@@apilkey I totally see where you are coming from, I also agree. Betting on Eddie would yield a bigger win in staking, yet the actual odds are maybe 60 to Brian, 40 to Eddie. But many things are still to take place before the match, both athletes will be further prepared, cant really call it yet.

yep, gotta learn the basics before doing the master class
100% and if devon gets in the kitchen you better watch out lol. Hes terrible at teaching beginners.
It’s not rocket science and WAY too many pro pullers turn people with massive potential away by giving them training advise that contradicts each other which can be confusing. That was one of the issues that Larry Wheels was having when he started. You ONLY need the big 3:

Sure, but not because Brian and Eddie.
@@jayclean5653Have you deluded yourself into thinking Brian doesn't have absurd potential?

Yes because of Brian
Smaller hand and wrist you say as he's dwarfing the hand of a multi time world champion😂@@chatta6013
Brian has a lot of training under his belt, so it would be difficult for Eddie to achieve a similar level, in such a short time. Looking forward to it though! 💪😀👍
That’s a really good point! I hadn’t thought about the difference in experience between Eddie and Brian.
Devon will be training Brian Shaw, he just posted a video talking about it on his channel

I think Eddie is definitely faster.
Both are great additions to arm wrestling but I think Brian will take it farther . Eddie is entertaining mma ext and is a busy guy
It is an interesting match up because Eddie is actually stronger than Brian in most lifts, but Brian has a much stronger hand and longer levers. Like you said, Eddie needs to get to the straps every time. I think Brian wins this time, mainly because he's been training much longer.
Your talking like he still lifts the same amount now
Eddie retired from strongman 7 years ago and dosent lift near what he used to , to be healthier.

yeah agree but let’s see.
Brian seems a bit more commited but mb it’s personalities difference
Eddie could only use one arm vs Thor so had to modify his technique.
The best thing Eddie can do is go to the training nights at club torture with Paul Maiden as he needs to arm wrestle multiple people and absorb little bits of information from each hand, it's by far the best arm wrestling gym in the UK and it's not actually that far from his home.

Met Eddit in 2012, he's not 6'3 1/2, I'm just about 6'2 and was slightly taller.
As long as neither Eddie nor Brian get injured then I'll consider that a win
Somehow Neil seems more excited than Eddie lol

Eddie spending so much time preparing for this match can make one think that he is thinking about a possible armwrestling career as well.
Eddie is probably one of the worst students you can have as a teacher because of his mentality and lack of willingness to change.
Did Neil's pain miraculously cure after practicing with Baxter?
Eddie seems to be more of a natural to this than Brian. He looks smoother and more connected. Already moving better than Brian
He's smaller. It helps. Brian probably has trouble getting into position.

Eddie's movement looking really good, but Brian has all the physical advantages long arm and big hands
the only thing eddie and devon have in common is there sick sense if fashion
His main weak link will be his cup, once he gets that cupping strong, then he will have more access to his real strength
