    Didn't think the bushing were going to be a problem. Didn't think of it at the time. Just was stoked to get the last defender that was in stock at the Hobbytown. Picked up the low crawler tranny motor combo, light kit, and trailer. Thanks to your tip, finally found a set of bearing from Fast Eddy. Thanks alot.

    Awesome, thanks for sharing. Haven't picked the truck up yet, but I know the binding is going to bother me. Glad to see aftermarket brands are already offering options

    I designed some low profile steering links and that fixed all the binding for me. It seems to be caused by the tire rubbing the stock linkage so it was an easy fix. Big oversight not sure how it got past.

    Would it be smart to leave the bushing at each end of the axles to prevent water from messing up the bearings?

    Reading between the lines, and looking at the prices of bearings, aaaaaaand looking at the prospect of replacing/maintaining rusted bearings over time, it looooooooks like the smart, un- popular solution is having the stock trans and the low trans...and keeping the oilite bushings :-)
    I can almost guarantee that no one will do this though! I predict a ton of ppl wastin money on bearings, but its a hobby, so have fun with it ;-)

    • @texomarc

      Meh, I’m just not gonna run it in the water anymore. It’s super fun but I’m way more interested in crawling on dry terrain and playing everyday. Lol. It’s fun out of the box, so the rest is just what you wanna do with it. I like pushing the limits and don’t mind spending money on a hobby that I enjoy so much. Thanks for sharing and you’re probably right. I don’t think it was a bad choice for Traxxas, I just like it better with bearings!

    so dope, def thinking about getting one of these. I like the green defender a lot. might just buy a green defender and a white bronco body to have both haha. how do you feel the crawl is with the low speed gearing compared to the fcx24

    • @texomarc
      @texomarc  Год назад +1

      I’m, torque wise? Especially with the bearings, it’s going to have dominating torque with the crawl gears. For a scale rig, I really like the stock gearing with the bearings. With the crawl gears and bushings, it’s enough. It’s more fun to crawl than a stock fcx24, heads up, if the gears are the only change you made. It’s really impressive and adding weight made it even better. Thanks brother! Hope you have a great one.

    I’m not planning on running mine in any water. I learned after driving my trx4 in the water that I don’t want to do that. Should I still get the bearings if I’m on a budget? I wanted to get the low range gears for cheap but my hobby shop was sold out. Gonna try again this week.

    • @texomarc
      @texomarc  Год назад +1

      If you’re on a budget, get the fast Eddie’s bearing kit. The gears are better than nothing but it’s likely they’ll be hard to come by for a minute. IMO, this is how the car was made to run and the low speed gears were a fix, plus up charge when they found out it wouldn’t crawl well with the bushings. It’s one of the things Traxxas does that pisses people off. The thing is a tank and worth the money, to me. I don’t know how crazy you’re tying to crawl with it but I actually really like the balance of speed and torque of the stock gears and bearings for a scaler. Thanks for hangin out bro. Hope you have a a good one.

    Have you tried D&D hobby shop on 56 between south May’s and Sherman he’s always got a bunch or traxxas parts that’s normally where I go cause it’s local. Great video

      I love David. I highly doubt he brought these in. If anything, he might have got one or two but no parts. Last time I talked to him, he’s not interested in bringing in new lines but this is Traxxas and he might change his mind if he played with it. I’ll take mine out to him and see what he says. Thanks for hangin bro! Hope you have a great one.

      Um… I think this would be great as it sits: bearings, wheels and wheel weights and a servo when it goes. Still a little more but as long as buddies run the same thing, it’s a blast. Crazy what it can do!

      You have to search “trx-4m”. I sent them a suggestion to add “trx4m” to the keywords. Maybe they will? I need to start writing it that way in the title. Kraig ordered them last night and they shipped today. Nice turn around, they’re available and $14 cheaper than Traxxas.
