    Hello @philip, at what point/stage do you develop a codebook? is it necessary or one can do without it

    • @drphilipadu
      @drphilipadu  Год назад +1

      If you are doing thematic analysis, you create codes and their definitions as you are going through the data. When done with the analysis, you can export a list of codes/themes with their meanings which is considered a codebook.
      I hope this helps!
      Philip

    Another question: can we edit the transcription once imported in dedoose?

    • @drphilipadu
      @drphilipadu  10 месяцев назад

      Yes, when you open the document, you can click on the 'Lock' icon to edit.

    Hello. When coding and having parent code (green) and a subcode (blue) in your case, does it matter the order that you code? In other words, does it matter if you have the a subcode before the parent code, does it matter and would this impact your analysis? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

    • @drphilipadu
      @drphilipadu  Год назад

      Hi Andrew, it doesn't really matter. you can first create child codes and later explore the codes to generate parent codes. In my case, I wanted to develop child codes and put them under their respective research questions (i.e. parent code). I hope this helps!

    • @andrewp.5099
      @andrewp.5099 Год назад

      @@drphilipadu It does! So as long as you have both the parent and sub code it doesn’t matter how it is organized. The analysis should be the same correct when running results for qualitative analysis?

    • @drphilipadu
      @drphilipadu  Год назад +1

      @@andrewp.5099 Yes, you are right! The analysis will be the same.

    Thanks for the video. in a case where by the information of all participant in a focus group are in one transcript how do i create a descriptor for this and link all the participant to this one media?, the response of all the participants are in one transcript so i only have one media for this. what do i do ?

    • @drphilipadu
      @drphilipadu  7 месяцев назад

      In this case, you don’t create have to create descriptors unless you have more than one transcript with each one representing a group.

      @@drphilipadu How about if the answers are all in one excel sheet . Say like 5 rows with each row for each participant. Do I seperate and create individual excel files for each participant OR is there a way to just upload one excel file and link each descriptor to the appropriate row in the excel file?

    Thank you for uploading this video. It is so useful. When my two excerpts have the same codes, in the code bar section it does not show number tow beside that code? In your video you have numbers which each codes but I cant see that in mine. Can you clarify that for me. Thanks

      You're welcome!! When you go to the left of your screen, where the list of your codes are, click on the second icon in front of 'Codes' and go to 'Code Counts' and select 'Explicit Code Count'. I hope this helps!
