High soaring hawk sending messages in song. Parting Words of encouragement for those of us who continue on this muddy trail called life. My friend, Nate had the privilege of spending a half hour with him at a venue in New Mexico. I will carry these parting words in my Heart ever thankful that the Answer Blowing in Bob Dylan's Wind was Ian Tyson's "Four Strong Winds" I wish I could have met him.
We loved all his work, from folk through cowboy, and saw him (and earlier, with Sylvia) whenever possible. We used to joke that we could never get a divorce because we couldn't split our prized Ian & Sylvia vinyls. We have been married 55 years.
Best recordings and original songs were with Ian and Sylvia, and the Great Speckled Bird era. After he went solo he never was as good again. He was not a great singer but only an average one, and there was way too much of the white cowboy hat/canned country image with a lot of mediocre songs.
