Always fun to watch. I think DCS is very generous when it comes to modeling Russian capabilities. In a real fight, personally, I don't think any Russian fighter would be able to lock-up a F22. The only exception would be if it was on the F22's tail.

@@joseglenn20 The AMRAAM's internal radar is nowhere nearly as sophisticated as what is on the F-22 (for rather obvious cost, size and weight reasons). Ground clutter, as it is called, is the irregular and constantly changing radar return from the ground itself, and it's hard for the radar (or rather, processing unit) to separate out one moving thing against a backdrop of constant "noise" like that. As soon as you go over water, especially calm water, it gets much easier to detect the aircraft. So if you can get under the missile and over a hilly forrest you have an advantage. Getting under the missile, but over a calm lake, is about the same as letting it track you on the backdrop of empty sky.
Funny how the Su-57 was externally carrying 2 massive missiles and still able to lock you before you even detect him. Those Russian missiles must have stealth-improving capabilities.

If i remember correctly, the F-22 is an all weather air superiority stealth fighter. The B-2 spirit and the F-35 are the ones who have a bit of a struggle in rain.

The primary goal of the project was to counter stealth aircraft, and a significant part of the budget was spent on neutralizing stealth. One example of this is using l band radar which lacks the precision to target, but has much greater range at the same power level, and is capable of tracking stealth aircraft, at range. My theory is they use Lband radar to narrow the search window of thier asea radar, allowing to focus all the power of thier radar on a tiny area.
It's a resolution thing. Imagine having a rifle scope that can't see camouflaged animal, then having a thermal scope that can see a blurry heat spot. You can shoot at it, but if it's blurry, you might not hit it.

After the missile booster runs out, it's slowing down. If it constantly has to turn to chase the 22, it's losing speed even more. Eventually, it just can't turn with enough energy to keep chasing the 22.
Also the r37m hypersonic missile is intended to kill targets like tankers and awacs planes so it is not really good at making precise manuevers to keep up with fast and manueverable aircraft like f22 if you watch the f22 vs mig31 vid you will get what i mean
I've come to like the BVR engagement videos more than the dogfight videos. There's a completely different skill set at play in the BVR engagements, including a little bit of suspense about whether or not a BVR missile shot is going to find its target, and I find it very compelling.
kimchi2780, the same thing goes to F22, and it mostly tries to crash in land and ground. It has good accident records. They get hugh tax payment for that.
AIM-120D-3 is what the F-22 would be carrying and soon the AIM-260 JATM which will out shoot everything and everyone, basically making the F-22 truly invincible for years to come.

It's funny how the F22's cockpit has animated vibration upon missile launch when zoomed into the HUD, despite ejection is done by pheumatics with the use of AVEL, which should not transfer vibration onto the airframe.
It seems like it’s not the F22 vs Su 57. It’s the F22 vs the Russian missile and the Su 57 vs the American missile. Both the F22 and the Su57 launch missiles at each other before either is destroyed. Neither airplane attempts to kill the missile chasing them. Whoever wins on defense against the missile wins the battle. The airplanes have ceased to be in the dogfight with their opponent but are in something like a dogfight against the incoming missile.
This is 100% the correct attitude. And if they COULD see they were silly to tell you but since they did treat it like a fact and don’t underestimate your foe. This is 100% the correct attitude to have something that is in verrrrrry low supply these days with everyone believing a lot of the propaganda out there.

I would like to see a 4 ship battle no allies between F-22, SU-57, J-20 and SU-35, Starting From North, South, East, and West, fight though all fighters to kill remaining AWACS. I think it would be interesting to see who wins.
I wonder if missiles that can reacquire targets on it's own are dangerous to friendlies too. Or do the missile have some sort of technology to never target a friendly?
Is the new E-7 Wedgetail AWACS in DCS yet? Boeing and Northrop Grumman did an incredible job developing this platform for the Aussie RAAF, so much so that there is a USAF version in the works to replace the E3.

The radar isn’t as good in a missile seeker plus aspect change combined with what you’ve already said would be my guess

That’s correct they can indeed target friendlies. That’s why you shouldn’t shoot a fox3 into an area where you have a lot of friendlies
