Ugh… this is the third channel I have had to advise that better help is a certified talk therapist not a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist however when I was looking into them mid-late pandemic they were charging comparable prices (hopefully that has changed). They have also have been in the practice of selling patient personal data, which I can’t understand how they are getting away with in the behaviour health world. (I mean as someone who has repeatedly gone through Hippa training, I can guess, but those are thin lines they are walking and I would rather not)

Nice vid, just really disappointed with the sponsor you're working with. Betterhelp is not the best or even a decent resource for people in need of teletherapy.
My husband used betterhelp and the therapist was not only woefully unprepared for his needs, she did not follow proper lawful procedures in our state. That isn't to say that people haven't gotten real help from this service - it just doesn't look after therapists or patients nearly as well as they advertise themselves to be.

      yours is special.
the look in his eye and the way he looks at you, isnt like that for every dog and human.

I saw some thing about Better Help being scammy (I tried it before and it was mostly decent, but note that, severe traumas do need a bit more in-depth processing than a 30 minute session will allow). But, I do want to say that the best part of better help is the ability to get a different therapist. Switching therapists is something that is very hard to do, especially if you live in a rural area or in certain states that don't like you.
IF YOUR THERAPIST IS NOT WORKING FOR YOU, IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT! IT IS OKAY AND REASONABLE TO GET A NEW THERAPIST WHO DOES WORK FOR YOU.

One of the most important lessons our pets teach us is that, despite the devastating loss of each of them, they expand our hearts and abilities to love the next one. For those willing to risk their hearts on creatures with too short a lifespan, our pets bring out the best in most of us.

I prefer people please adopt adult dogs. Only the inexperienced tend to choose to get puppies, or all sorts of different species (including the completely thoughtless that naively make human babies without a bit of research asking should you? Ooo welcome being brainfried from lack of sleep, constant diaper changes, and chronic high pitched vocalizations...that sucks the life out of the breeder who eventually hands kiddo over to a school system to be free from it for at least 8 hours, 5 days a week).
Really, get the older dogs. They are wonderful. Really most dogs stay puppy-like for life.
Truth be told, even the most low drive chill dogs need at least a couple hours per day of your dedicated attention for grooming, feeding, and other needs met. People think a dog is easier than a kid? Not always. Even barky dogs are easier on the ears than a human child. Fortunately exercise and a bit of management tends to reduce barking, which is often a boredom outlet. Some dogs might need a good four hours of dedicated involved exercise daily. People get these high drive working type dogs then think the dog will be a couch potato for 8-10 hours per day? No! Also you can't just turn dogs like this out in a yard! They will find things to do, or stare at door until you come outside too. Truly dogs are quite an involved social creature that wants you present when they are outside. Dogs have been cultivated this way for ages. Also, vetcare can cost a big chunk of money 💰. Be prepared!

It hurts that she's now gone. I still reflexively look for her first thing in the morning, or instinctively wait for her to sneak up on me while I was tying my boots just so she could lick the top of my head. But as sad as I am, I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat if I had the chance.

    • @RevShifty
      @RevShifty 4 месяца назад

@@Pedroandkalithemaligator6602 That's not even remotely true. I had a Pyrenees Mountain Dog/boxer cross, who was trained so well she responded to hand signals and even gentle directional least tugs on her harness. It never took me more than a single mention of anything at quieter than my speaking voice to get her to behave or do whatever it what she was told.
And she was still an absolute puppy on the inside despite being over 5 years old. I could poke my head in the doorway of the room she was in, make a funny face, and suddenly she'd get this super surprised look on her face and want to play. And playing with a dog that size (120+ lbs) was no small feat. Her being so puppy like when she was off leash was by far my favorite part about her.
It also made it really easy to train her. Because she learned so quickly and I learned to use play time as teaching time (dogs like her need constant stimulation, so what better way to get that than combine the two most important things?), even the vets would compliment her on her manners. I've never heard a dog described as polite in my entire life before her.
You have an incredibly short sighted idea of what training means.

This was so touching. I’ve raised two puppies and had to say goodbye to both within the past two years (each at 12.5 years), and boy does it hurt. But despite that I found myself smiling as I watched, remembering those early days of overwhelm and adjustment with such fondness and nostalgia. It will be a while before I’m ready to once again place my heart and soul into the hands of fate, but your video is a fantastic reminder of the sheer joy dogs bring to our lives on a daily basis. It’s encouraging and I’m starting to feel like the love and happiness I’ve felt with them is greater than the pain of losing them. Thank you for sharing this 🤍

I've owned several Samoyeds, who don't mature until they're at least 4, so be brave some day he'll slow down and settle in. He's as smart as a whip, keep up the training as knowing to sit and stay can save his life if he gets loose and starts to run into the road.

In January of 2022, we adopted a 2.5 year old JRT who was a fine little fellow aside from barking at everything he saw outside our front window and the mutual hatred between him and a border collie up the street.
In June of that year, we adopted a 9 month old basset hound who, like Arthur, decided that things full of stuffing needed to be dissected and scattered everywhere. He also decided, as younger brothers are wont to do, that bugging his older brother was great fun.
They have both mostly calmed down by now (hated border collie aside), and they get along well. We would not trade either for anything.
It was great watching this Arthurian video.

My Aeris will turn 11 sometime next month, and I'm afraid my introversion rubbed off on her early on. She loves other dogs, but whenever she meets one, she has never had any idea what to actually DO with them. And she loves other people, but given not everyone loves her, I have to be especially careful when people are out and about while she is. Even when she hears the tiny little sh...friends...next door, she'll play with them for all of five minutes, tops, before very much wanting to come back in. Glad yours bonded with another dog!

We have had boxers for about 25 years now, and it has taken every one of them at least two to three years before they stopped being puppies. Our youngest (5) and largest (91 pounds) has destroyed more pillows and toys than I can count - hahaha! But we have loved each and every one of them and cried when their time came to depart this earth. The love and companionship of a dog has always outweighed the grief. I hope that when it is my time to leave this earth, there will be a loving dog at my side! This is definitely my favorite of all your videos I've watched! Happy for you and Arthur that you rescued each other!
