Good morning! What kind of rice do YOU use most often? 🍚 - Lisa
I use brown rice
Long grain rice
Basmati! 😊
I tried jasmine rice for the first time last week, loved it as well.
Whole grain basmati rice
Basmati is so versatile I love it
I washed and soaked the basmati rice for 40 mins. I cook 2 cups and followed your water amount 21/2 cups water. On high pressure for 3 mins and natural release for 10 mins. It came out perfect. Rice grains are not sticky but separated with the right texture. 👍thank you for sharing. ❤
1 cup of Jasmine rice and 1 1/2 cups of water. Added some salt and pepper. Put the InstandPot on high and pressure cooked for 3 minutes and let the steam release naturally for 10 minutes. Came out perfect. Thank you.
That is so much water. If I was ever to try that in my instant pot , my rice would be swimming
I made it today, it came out perfect. I ate the entire serving 😅😂thank you, you’re a life saver!!!!
I love your channel! Between you and Six Sisters, I bring my "A" game to the kitchen! And now AllRecipes ... I am so happy RUclips was invented. I need to see once before I do it, so these videos are essential in my cooking education. Mind you, I'm 60 but love to cook when I'm able. Keep us all in line and educated Lisa!!! 💗
So on time!! Was trying this out, Jasmine rice!! Copied down for Basmati because they are 2 of favorites!!
Thank you!!!! I finally made rice that didn’t suck. It was amazing!!
I love watching your video! It always helps me in my cooking but i like to soak my basmati rice before cooking.
Hi Lisa, I live off grid and water is a precious commodity. I put a small amount of water in a bowl, only enough to cover rice and then clean with my hand for several minutes. I pour out cloudy water then cook. I’ve had no problems using this method. But yours is my go to cooking method. Thanks for your great and very helpful channel.
Works! Sweet tnx for the vid!
Thank you so much, I finally got perfect rice in my instant pot!!!
Fantastic!!! This is great I am going to make this for my family! I think they will all like it. Your clear presentation makes it look so easy. I also make RUclips videos and I feel so lucky to be able to learn from other talented creators like you! I look forward to watching your future videos!
I made the most successful instant pot Basmati rice by your method! I’m very happy with the result!!! Thank you❤
So informative!! Thank you. We use a lot of jasmine and basmati. Sometimes we like to make sushi rice and I want to try doing that in the instant pot!
I ordered that basket after watching you. It's been a great addition! Much better than my mesh strainer. Thank you!
The link from the video doesn’t seem to work anymore. Do you have the link for the rinse basket?
I haven't tried Basmati rice in the IP, but I've been doing Jasmine rice a long time and I follow this ratio: 2 cups rice rinsed to 2/12 cups water. I add Redmond's salt because I think it's better to infuse it in as it cooks. I only pressure cook for 1 minute with a 10 min natural release and it has come out perfect every single time.
do you mean 2 1/2 cups water?
Basmati rice in the IP is delicious!
What is 2/12?
Thanks for your tips! May I ask if cook 3 or 4 cups of rice also only need 1 min as well? Thanks
@@pbe2376 it's 2.5 cups. I think she typoed the 2 1/2.
wow seems pretty easy im gotta try it tomorrow
It’s so good to see you again! I’ve been concerned. Have you not been filming, or is my notifications not workin? I can’t wait to try this rice. Your recipes are always good, and easy to follow. Thanks for you contribution of teaching!
Thanks for the recipe.
I love your video :-) wonderful presentation
Basmati is my favorite by far!
I know this is an older post, but it's a keeper. Our rice cooker finally died, so I decided to try finding a tested and true Instant Pot recipe for Jasmine rice. Your recipe is spot on! The rice came out just the way we like it the first time. Thanks so much!
Some times I wash, some times I don't. Depends on my mood. LOL I've never tried using the IP for rice but I may do so one of these days. I live alone and I use my rice cooker. I'm from Hawaii and I've used one for 50 years so it's easy and attendance free. Love your videos. Thanks. Oh yeah, I use all kinds of rice but Jasmine is my favorite.
I don't eat a lot of rice - but I ALWAYS rinse it - no matter what.
Basmati is my favorite!
Will try it in the IP with your instructions
Yummy. Thanks 😊
Thank you!
I love Calrose. I think it is more for sushi because of its sticky texture but its more hearty to me. I need one of those rice strainers!!!
Have u cooked wild rice yet? What is your method of cooking this wonderful rice. Do u rinse it? Please let me know. Love 💕 u and your show
I use brown basmati. Thank you !
❤ Perfect Rice
How would I cook 1 CUP of SUSHI RICE in my Instant Pot duo nova 8 qt. cooker? Love your videos. Thanks
I rinse my rice first. I mostly make brown basmati in my IP and I use the multigrain setting at 22 minutes. I also use the measuring cup that came with the IP and measure 1 to 1 rice and water and it comes out perfect every time! I will try the jasmine rice your way and see how it comes out. Sometimes I want a quicker rice than waiting for the brown.
I know! I don’t like waiting for brown rice sometimes, either! Thanks!
Thanks for this Gina. I always make brown basmati rice, but I think I use too much water. Will try your 1:1 next time.
@@joytoyouandme4593 I also use a 1:1 ratio in the instant pot, and it turns out great.
Awesome. I also have the ceramic pot but am confused. Do I 1st fill the main pot with water (per usual pressure cooking), then insert the ceramic pot inside? My rice burned when I only used the ceramic pot. THANK YOU!!
I always rinse my short grain rice until it runs clear, but I don't rinse Jasmine rice. And for my insta pot, I usually use a 1:1 ratio of rice to water for my rinsed rice. I have the smaller sized insta pot though, so maybe that makes a difference.
Wow, Lisa, you made using your instant pot for cooking rice so easy. Many thanks.
Thank you so much for watching!
Would love to know about wild rice!
I use Jasmine rice all the time, so thanks for doing this vid!
Came out perfect thank you!!
Side note does anyone know what kind of white rice Wahoos or Urban Plates uses? They’re so good and I can’t find that flavor in rices.
I usually use a blend of Organic Brown Basmati Rice and Organic Wild Rice Blend from Lundberg.
Omgosh I thought you were saying “vente” as in Starbucks lol ☺️☺️❤️❤️
Thanks so much for this video! Is the cook time the same for larger quantities?
Yes….the time remains the same. I double the amount of rice all the time. The cooking time does not need to be adjusted.
@@CB-fp2ct OK, thanks so much. I'll give that a try :)
This is perfect....Thank you !.... * Question* I have Basmati Organic Brown rice....didn't realize
that when buying as I never cook rice...having watched your video, I wanted to make it :) Would you tell me how much water with once up dry...and..how long to cook & then pressure release? I'd be so grateful as I can't wait to try this out... Will get white Basmati when next out... ~ cheers ~ !
Can this be used in other pressure cooker like la gourmet?
Which rice is best to use in stir fry?
Do you use “keep warm” when waiting the 10 minutes? I can never find an answer on that. Thanks!
Where is the link for the rice rinsing basket, please?
Do you increase the time if you add more rice?
Is it the same time if you make to three or four cups is it still two to three minutes with a 10-minute wait time afterwards
If I double the ingredients, the time should be double too?
Can you show us how to do rice for Sushi in the IP ??? 🍚🥠🍣 ... Thanks !! 🤗
I cook my basmati in the IP with 1:1. Just today i used 2 cups rice and 2 water and cooked it for 5 on high and natural release for 10. it came out perfect…
Oh and i wash my rice to avoid as much foamy volcano ecplosion as possible..
Can you do one for parboiled rice.
Good morning. I like to cook a blend of aromatic purple, red and brown rice. This rice is found at fresh market the company that make it is Ralston family farms. Can you show me how to cook this rice in my insta pot please. I cooked it the other day and it wasn’t soft.
Thanks so much for the video. Hosted 2 people for Japanese Curry, and I used this recipe for the rice. 2 cups rice, 2.5 cups water, 1 tsp salt. 3 minutes, 10 minutes natural release, like you said. It was great.
Just curious, at 3 min did it turn out mushy at all? Been struggling to find a recipe that doesn't turn the rice into a big ball of mush. Lol.
@@lincolnhadalispbutnoneever2570 I didn't notice any mushiness at all
@yousifucv awesome, appreciate the info. About to try this now. Fingers crossed I just can never seem to cook Jasmin rice well.
@@lincolnhadalispbutnoneever2570 turned out well?
What can you use if you do not have the rice strainer ?
What are you thoughts about using your 2-3 minutes method versus using the rice mode on the instant pot?
I have tried both methods. Disclaimer: I don’t rice my jasmine rice because I’m lazy (😆). When I did the 2-3 minute method, it was difficult to get the rice out. There was a lot of rice stuck the the pan. With the rice setting, only a few grains were left behind. About the texture, I couldn’t tell the difference
So its always 2-3 under high pressure no matter how much rice u have in the cooker?
I live in southeast Texas which has a heavy Cajun influence in cooking and my wife is Korean. So we are part of two cultures that eat rice almost daily.
My wife always rinses her rice 3 times by her custom and I usually rinse at least a couple of times, on occasion not at all.... unless she is watching.
We sometimes go a little above 1 1/4 to about 1 1/2 cups of water per cup of rice, mostly according to how fresh/dry the rice is. We usually buy by the 25 pound sack so we might add that slightly more water near the end of it.
Greetings from Texas friend i live in Beaumont
@@ZoridaGonzalez
I live in Nederland but have a Beaumont address. 👍🏼
After the jasmine rice cook for 3 mins does it automatically start the steam for 10 mins or so I open the vent for 10 mins
If I’m cooking Jasmine Rice 2 cups , do i just double the water and the time ?
What should the temp on the pressure cooker be set at? I'm Puerto Rican and prefer using Basmati rice for all my Latin dishes.
I was wondering the same.
WHAT ABOUT IF UR COOKING 2 CUPS OF RICE INSTEAD OF 1? Do u double the cooking time???
For rice, the cook time stays the same no matter the amount. I have tested this myself
Natural pressure release just means you just let it sit for 10 minutes?
How do you set a ‘natural release time of 10 minutes’?!?
Can you please show us how to do sushi rice
How do you do the natural release? can you show...im a beginner an confused by this
I think that once the rice is done cooking a timer automatically starts going. Once it reaches 10 mins its ready.
I always rinse my basmati rice, then soak for 15-30 minutes, drain, and then cook on a 1:1 rice/water ratio.
I love Jasmine rice
so what's the rice button function for?!
I want to cook 5 cups of jasmine rice. How much water and time?
I was told brown basmati has to be pre washed to “soak” a bit of water.
So for Jasmine rice, if you use 2 cups of rice, then you use 2 1/2 cups of water? Is that right? Will the cook time be the same?
We need answers!
Yes, your cook time will always be the same, regardless of the amount. Also yes, always try to do a 1:1 ratio with rice. Hope this helps!
Too mushy
did i miss whether it was on high for the jasmine too?
I use NuPak pre cooked rice
I prefer the white Basmati rice and rinse it first. I prefer it b/c it is not sticky. I recently stared making it in my Instant Pot and really prefer it that way. One thing I also like is to saute about a 1/2 cup of chopped onion in a little butter then add my rice, water and/or chicken stock and salt before cooking.
Hi! I literally have never used my Insta pot before. I feel stupid for requesting this, but in the future could you show the physical button that you’re pushing when you say “just push manual” or “set it for two minutes?” I grew up with the old exploding kind of pressure cooker and I’m still hesitant to even try this so I want to be sure to do exactly what you say 😅Thank you so much.
Don’t worry about exploding instant pot.
It won’t! IP’s are great.
Do you leave the pot on warm for the 10 minutes or turn it off completely for 10 minutes
I personally leave it off for the 10 minutes to ensure the bottom doesn’t brown/burn
works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside ruclips.net/user/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again. This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.
Thanks for the info. Not a big rice eater. But I do make it for curries and chicken soup.
White and brown. I want to know what jasmine rice taste like.
If I do 2 cups of rice with 2.5 cups of water is the cook time the same? Or do I double the cook time too?
Thats what i wanted to know exactly so Im trying it right now I'll let you know how it comes out when its done
Just made it and it came out nice and fluffy i pressure cooked it for 6 min
@@elizabethvilla4941 hey. Have you tried it yet. I want to make 2 cups also ..
@@elizabethvilla4941 sorry saw this now.
Cook time is the same.
Thanks for sharing… i rinse my rice with hot water, i don’t like the starchy taste a all.
We don't use the "Rice" button on the InstaPot?
Is the trick not to release the air until after it sits for 10 min to allow it to steam? I’m sorry I’m new to IP 🤔
Yes, that is key for rice or it won't be cooked. Then manually (by hand) release any remaining pressure before opening the lid.
Use rice butting one instant pot nomlressure wsit
Hi Lisa! Does it matter if the Jasmine rice is cooked on low pressure or high pressure? I would appreciate it if you can reply back to me. Thank you 🙏🏼
What about quinoa?
Why do you rinse rice anyway? Are there contaminants on it that need to be washed off? Oh and I commented on your other rice video, my cooker doesn't have that pressure level button like yours (I guess its an earlier model?) How do I do it without that setting? Thanks
Not contaminants, just dust etc. And it rinses off some starch, so it's not super sticky
Rinsing/soaking brown rice should remove some of the phytic acid, which some say can block absorption of minerals in the dish.
Rice in general is fairly dirty, but the arsenic thing is overblown: why haven't we heard about millions dying from arsenic poisoning in Asia?
Is it better to use the 3 quart instant pot or the larger 6 quart? Does it make a difference in the finished product?
I use an 8qt. Turns out great!
It doesn't make a difference. It depends on the amount of food you are cooking. I have a 3qt and a 6qt. I always use my 3qt because I'm only cooking for 1 or 2 all the time, but when we have guests then I use my 6qt.
Hello from germany,
what is one in a quater in Milliliter?
Thank you very much.
juck.
Just add 25% more water than your rice. For example 400ml is about 1 1/2 US cups. So 400ml of rice to 500ml of water.
250ml is roughly a cup of rice so about 310ml of water.
@@tvc184 Thank you very much. ☺️
You didn't show if we need to leave keep warm on for 10 minutes or switch IP off after 2-3 minute cooking time?
Sorry, always keep warm on so it will count the npr for uou
I always rinse..before cooking it
Hi or low setting? Mine is sticking
I rinse my rice 🍚😆
What if I use 5 cups of rice? Is it still 10 minutes?
We need answers!
I tried a lot of recipes and this one was the hit. In my case I used only one cup of rice 1:1, two minutes and 10 natural release. But I have a question. If I'm going to do 3 cups how mucho time I have to do in pressure?
What kind of rice did you use if you don’t mind me asking?
Jasmine
Yes please. Larger family. One cup of rice not enough. Do you add time when doubling?
Brown and wild rice. Put rice in pot. Cover with liquid (water or broth). 21 minutes HP. NR
Of all the ways to eat rice, how did two sticks win?
So you only need to see it to 2-3 minutes? So no pressing the rice button, manual only?
When pressed, the instant pot indicates 12 min 😱
Low or HIGH pressure?
i was a lil annoyed not knowing this sliver detail lol
I think it's high pressure
We just made jasmine rice and it came out all mushy.
