    Do you lose control on your 40-60 yard wedge shots? I have a few questions for you to see if I can help. Do you feel like your arms and body are out of sync? Do you lose control of the face through contact. Hitting thin and heavy. Do shots float up into the air, consistently coming up 10-20 yards short, even when you try to swing harder? If you've experience these types of shots, I can help you with this video.
    I look forward to working with you much more in the future with Top Speed Golf. Good luck with your golf.

    Good morning Clay. I'm a 73 year old semi semi retired, recently obsesed golfer, "says my wife". I'm in my first league ever for 5 years now carrying a consistently amazing 26 handicap. Lost count of the pros I've watched on you tube until you. Followed you for the last 6 months now. Crazy!! You are the best for 2 reasons that changed everything for me!. You taught me how the swing should feel with lots of swing demonstrations. Breaking 15 is right around the corner. Shoot an a 9 hole 44 Thursday night. The guys on my leage are in there 50's and they call me Moses, which helps me concentrate😅. Thanks again Clay. See you on your next page....!

    You are a great tutor! My irons were terrible. I kept slicing my shots to the right no matter what effort i put in my irons. They were just horrible shots and very frustrating. But after watching your videos on shallowing the club i am able to get where i want with any iron and it feels great! Thank you so much!

    hands down best instructor on youtube...no argument. amazing details in every video. love how he shows the correct way to do things, but also what most people do wrong - makes it much easier to learn what needs fixed and how to fix it. i bought a new house with a higher ceiling solely for when Clay says "get up and make a few swings in your living room while you're watching".

      I agree. I immediately figured out why I haven't been able to hit that shot, and now it feels easy. Straight arms, short backswing, firm full follow through = tons of spin and a great feeling for distance control.

    Fantastic explanation! I like all Clay's videos but this one has been the most impactful. I was having the hardest time with 60 yrd shots. I would shank them 15% of the time, which made me scared the other 85%. I didn't even practice this technique, just went out and tried it and it worked immediately. This has worked for me in my 20+ years playing golf.
    Step 1: always miss the green. Hook or slice if you have to. Or just aim wrong. Any mishit is acceptable, as long as it lands within 40-80 yards.
    Step 2: over 20+ years of step 1, you'll have had enough pitching practice to nail these shots.
    Step 3 (bonus): reduce your putting stats by following steps 1 and 2.
    Step 4: be happy and accept your 95.

    I guess I'm a little confused, I was always taught in order to put more spin on the ball you have to add Loft. Because if you hit down on it your delofting the club and you're hitting on the side of the ball instead of underneath it which would give more time for that ball to roll up the clubface therefore give you more spin. So if you could shed some light on that situation that would be very much appreciated thank you

    Hey Clay, I finished the stable spine section of the top speed golf and I got great results! I however, already had a decent power turn so I moved onto top speed lag. I am trying to make sure I have the full power turn which I sometimes lack, but that combined with the lag completely put my swing out of wack. Do you recommend just sticking through the lag series, or moving onto to the straight line release, which is what I believe I'm lacking that is causing my lag to not allow me to give me proper contact?

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  5 лет назад

      Hi, if you're releasing from the top or casting then you essentially have no chance to release the club out in front. As long as you're generating some lag in the downswing then you're good to go. You can start the Straight Line Release if you're seeing that on camera. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    • @TopSpeedGolf

    Great video Clay, but what about bounce on the wedges? Shouldn't it depend on what type of striker you are? (Sweeper or Divot taker)

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Michael, if you're doing this correctly then the bounce doesn't make much of a difference on these shots. You want to be controlling that leading edge. If you're using the bounce to glide through the turf then you'll be hitting behind the ball filling the face with debris and moisture. Makes it very hard to predict how much spin will be on the ball. It's really important to get ball first contact. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    Great video Clay , so a 60yd pitch say over a bunker with the 56degree you would ajust your angle of attack (less steep) more loft and spin or open up the face Seve style?

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  5 лет назад

      Hi Bob, you could open up the face a little but it probably wouldn't be necessary. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instruction

    • @JDDD33

      bob - depends on the read into the green, and where the pin is... for example, if you have to pitch over a greenside bunker and the pin is also closely adjacent to the bunker, then you would want to open the face on a higher lofted club and play more of a flop shot. all depends on the situation.

    Great video. A quick questions please : what ball position is good for high or low shot? Thank you.

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks Aaron, you could play the ball in the middle or just back of middle for a lower flight. I would recommend trying to get more forward shaft lean to try to flight the ball lower. To hit it higher then I would play the normal ball position and feel like you're flipping the hands a little bit to add loft to the face at impact. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    how about the left arm? should it tight as well as we hold other iron club?
    the same question for chipping

      it doesn't need to be tight but it does need to be somewhat close to the body.

    Clay you have knocked 20+ strokes off my game. One of my favorite online instructors. After a round I take note of my weak points and find one of your videos to get my mind set back. Thank you for the quality content!

    hi, i have swithched to a single plane swing. ( moe norman ) It has helped me a great deal. Can you show how to incorporate that into your message. I like your teaching skill, and was a paid student in the past. thanks

      You can do the Top Speed Golf System and have a single plane swing. Moe Norman nailed all the pieces of the TSG System. Play well!

    If we are delofting the club we are not using the bounce...what is the longest yardage that we start using the bounce of the club when we set the club?

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  4 года назад

      Hi Rich, you're still using the bounce but not like you would in the bunker. The bounce on this shot helps the club glide through the turf after contact. You want ball first contact here. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    I don't know what you call this but I have alot of bad miss hits with my approach wedges. Like 60-80 yards out I hit the ball and it launches way too low and tumbles 10-20 yards past the green. I don't know what's going on. Am I delivering too much shaft lean and not returning the loft?

    If I am looking for 45 degrees, why not hit pitching wedge, reducing through the air and increasing roll? If I want 40 degrees, 8 or 9 iron? I notice Bob Vokey advocates a 54 or 56 for nearly all shots around the green for amateurs. I am so interested in this area. Thanks for your time

      Hi Chris, that might be better for a higher handicapper. If you have some control with the leading edge then I recommend doing it this way. You'll be more consistent. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    I thought dynamic loft+speed created speed? Does the deloft really increase spin? Seems like more and more pros are skimming with the bounce

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  5 лет назад

      Yeah, it's spin loft and speed. Spin loft is the difference between your dynamic loft and angle of attack. There is a sweet spot for the spin loft which can vary based on a lot of factors. If it's too high then the ball will slip up the face so having some forward shaft lean will help with tha t plus your impact will be more stable since the force is leading the mass. Play well!
