This immediately helped me! I finally found an empty practice pitching green and hit an entire bucket from about 35 yards to the flag, using my 56 degree wedge. I tried this technique since I just happened to watch this video. I remembered to not break the wrists and played with backswing distance, not tempo/swing speed. I hit every single ball on the green except one at the beginning. Most were near the flag even. I then used this technique the next 2 times I played and put myself in a strong position on the green EVERY time I was 30-60 yards away, no mistakes. Definite game changer, THANK YOU Mr short game!

What do you think of the "clock" method that some people teach for controlling distance with the length of the backswing? I used to use that method. Now I practice 3 swings with each wedge and put a label with all my distances on the shaft of each wedge. Similar to the Pelz system but I do it more by feel now rather than a rigid, specific backswing length. Thanks for the tips! Love the content! Playing in a tourney tomorrow. Gonna keep it narrow, shallow and open just a nibble.

More spin with a gap wedge than a lob wedge? How does this happens, in theory using a lower club should give you more spin. Can you please explain what’s de difference?

@@josemanuelsantos9107 Hey, here is a great article on the low-trajectory high-spin shot. I'm curious to see Mr. Short Game's answer but in my experience, the gap wedge will have a thinner sole width and lower degree of bounce so it's more conducive to this type of shot:

I used to practice these shorter distance shots a lot. They are the key to scoring. Shot many 67’s, because of it. Well, I stopped playing for about 6 years, and have only been back for about a year now. These shots have suffered the most. Weakest part of my game now. I have always used my 52 wedge for these, unless I had an obstacle to carry(tight pin). I have 2 choices…. Get back out there and practice these shots, to dial in my distances. Or, start laying up to full shots. I like option one the best. I gotta get my butt back out there and practice! Great video, my friend.

I've seen this video before on your channel. I used to say that my short game was the best part of my game. I could get 3-6 ft. from 60 and below without a doubt. Well, I started working on my driver and long irons. Got that part working pretty good but I neglected that short game and my scorecard shows it. I needed to refresh myself on your basics and get that old confidence going again. Taking these tips to the practice range and will work on that part of my game. Hopefully, I can gain that level of confidence I once had and still keep that long game working as well. Thanks again for all your vids. You do a great job.

I was having troubles hitting a 52 degree wedge super high and couldnt bring it down to control distance. The old man said stop cocking the wrist so much, firm up the back of the right wrist....wham ball came out lower and I got alot more consistent at range and direction. Ty for the video, keep it real and light youre on to something here with this approach. Good luck out there.

Can’t play very frequently but since I like your enthusiasm, it helps me to focus on the plan of action (feeling). Where there’s a will there’s a way. The never give up attitude. The I can rather than I can’t. Unlike the ant it’s easier to move the ball than move the tree. Eventually with a lot more play on a well manicured course I’ll play it where it lies. It may irritate some people you play with but if you can walk off the course with legitimate three or four pars and a birdie then to my way of thinking I’m moving in the right direction. Hopefully with a small booklet of your ideas I will graduate to playing it where it lies.

You make it look easy. If I could hit these shots I would be happy with my scores.

Really really great video. I have to some extent this steep backswing. I like to take my arms more back. Do more shoulder turn makes this move or arms are involved ? Thanks.

Absolutely loving your short game tips, they are really helping me out on the course. My golf mates are always asking how my game has improved so much over the last few rounds, (not sure if I should tell them 😆 ) Thanks again from over here in the U.K. 👍👍

ssshhh!! don't tell them. I have not told my buddies and what use to be a close match is in the distant past. winning on avg 6-8 strokes.
