How do you handle under the toilet seat staining. That drives me nuts! What do you do for that. Currently I just replace the toilet seat. Any other suggestions?
I started my cleaning business 10 years ago. I still learn new and improved methods for cleaning. There is ALWAYS more to learn and try. Enjoy your channel now for many years. Congrats on the new house x
I keep a sponge and cleaner in my shower and this way when im in the shower with my conditioner in my hair and my face mask on, I scrub my shower so it always stays clean and I never have to do a major deep clean because I scrub it at least twice a week while I'm in it.. Love it!
@@Sedgewise47 No, I'm thinking the tea trea oil is only to make the bathroom smell "nice." I would use another oil of your choice, or disregard entirely.
Was the greatest take away from this video for anyone else when she wedged her toilet bowl brush between the rim and bowl while it was still wet? Brilliant!!
I know. Something you wouldn't think of unless you see someone else do it. I did see it done several years ago, and thought the same thing..............Brilliant!.
You have got to be kidding, right? I've only been doing that very same thing with every toilet brush I've ever owned for more than 40 years I learned it from my Mother.
YES GIRL!...😇...my mother owned a cleaning business back in the 70s, and she took all five of her children with her and taught us how to clean those houses. My father was in the Marine Corps and my mother cleaned houses for military inspections. There could not even be a hair on the floor. To say the least, I have been accused throughout my life of being nitpicky. But I call it, good cleaning habits. That is how you create a healthy home. My mother didn't have microfiber cleaning towels but I do, they are my best friends on cleaning day.😎
Marines rock! My dad enlisted in the Marines during WWII. He didn’t want to risk being drafted into a different placement!! I always thought that was very cool!! He was such a good man♥️
Growing up in a military family, I learned how to clean our house top to bottom, including changing linens on 4 beds each week and doing our laundry which had to be hung outside to dry, ironing fatigues and other clothes, moping, waxing and polishing our hardwood floors with a buffer, and cooking meals.
Maybe it's a military/generation thing? My mom did a lot of extra things that I would absolutely not be concerned about. If we spilled pop or...there was nothing else and she saw it or a sticky spot remained she flipped then banned everyone from getting anymore for the rest of the day. I still get nervous if I spill anything around her.
That is a video that can be very useful for numbers of people. A lot of people do not understand that mold and mildew can cause some serious health issues.
I get rid of mold in the bathroom by spraying full strength or diluted bleach on i. Ventilate the bath room as needed. Be mindful of spraying it full strength if your bathroom will be used within a short time frame or if children will be using it because it can be overpowering if you spray a lot. Also know that some strengths of bleach can cause plastics bottles to dissolve in left in the bottle. Keeping the shower door or curtain closed and lack of ventilation promotes the growth of mold.
this is a good one because everyone has a different opinion on how to kill mold, some say bleach doesn't kill it and only vinegar does... I sometimes just want to use fire... lol!
Use a good stiff bristle scrub brush to get rid of the orange/pink mildew before it turns into mold, then seal your grout. Once mold takes hold, the only real solution is replacing the tiles/grout and/or caulking. Ventilation is key. The faster those areas dry the less like this is to be an issue. Be careful when using bleach as it will cause permanent damage to most surfaces over time.
I no longer keep guest towels for hand-washing, but a roll of paper towels in my guest bathroom. Liked it so much, I put a roll in my own bathroom. After drying my hands, I use the paper to wipe sink, counter, faucets, or mirror before throwing it away. My bathrooms always sparkle from the frequent wiping. Keep a spray bottle of alcohol for first aid and wiping mirror spots too.
OMGsh yes! My teenagers make such a mess, even just making a bowl of cereal, they spill milk and leave it in the counter. It's like they walk through the house and stuff just falls off of them lol! They are definitely clutter blind.
I have satellite cleaning kits all over the house because I suffer from chronic pain and the fatigue that it brings. I also have the major stuff in a basket I can easily carry around if I need to. It makes life so much easier, and makes me much more inclined to clean when everything I need is right there. That makes the overall job of cleaning much less difficult.
Absolutely and I do the same due to both pain and forgetfulness.. if I have to go from the bathroom to the kitchen to get something to clean the mirror.. guess what? It will never get done!
I also suffer from severe arthritis of the spine. So little by little, day by day, I clean that way. I have one of those little glass sponges (dollar store) I use that to clean bottom of the toilet and behind it. That way I don’t bend down to much. I have satellite kits in 3 bathrooms. Thanks for all your tips.
I only have one bathroom... but thankfully I have a big vanity with lots of storage and a medicine cabinet with lots of storage... pedestal sinks look nice and all but there's nowhere to put anything. Keeping the counter clutter-free makes it so much easier / faster to clean. If there's stuff everywhere, half or more of the cleaning time is just putting things away. And it's essential to keep it guest ready when you only have one! Thanks for the DIY recipe! I'm going to try that. I don't envy you with 4 bathrooms to clean. You can always schedule weekly employee training at your house where they have to clean everything... ;)
I started doing a quick cleaning every night for the past three nights after I put my daughter to bed. It has really helped a lot! Thank you for these tips!
Niela Drew try a dust spray on a duster, not the surface directly, it helps a ton though using it exclusively will cause product buildup so use it for weekly touch ups and rotate with regular cleaning.
Thank you 😊 this helps immensely. My problem is keeping up with a regular routine. We are moving into a bigger house in the next couple months so this is great. I honestly feel I’ll be able to keep things cleaner and more organized in the bigger house because in my current house I have no storage space and in the bigger house it’s so much better!!
Just wanted to say, I LOVE the DIY TB Cleaner. As a cancer survivor, I'm very conscientious about toxic chemicals in our home. Most commercial TB Cleaners are highly toxic! This worked fantastic, smells good with the tea tree oil and is enviornmentally friendly. I bought a ketchup/mustard squirt bottle set at Dollar Tree for $1.00, and keep one in each bathroom. Also, the mini cleaning caddy - genius! Now I have my bathroom cleaning stuff right there under the cabinet and can't make excuses. THank you!
I never tire of your tips and step by step tutorials. I am really embarrassed to admit to never thinking of using a all purpose cleaner on the toilet scrub brush!! Brilliant idea!! I do love these video's that show us more ways to stay organized and on top of cleaning tasks. I've been with you for years but it seems you always come up with something new or maybe I've just slept since then!! Ha Ha Hope your feeling better soon. Can't wait for more house tours or even more updates as you go along. You have a lovely home and that back yard and pool is to die for!!! :-)
I'm thinking of starting my own cleaning business and remembered how much your guys videos helped me clean and declutter my own space a few years ago. I came back to watch a few of your videos while I mull over whether or not this is a good next step for me and I'm glad I did! I'm looking forward to your cleaning course!
Had that in a previous house, the floor was warped but you couldn't tell with the carpet on it, I found this out when I was gleefully pulling up the carpet to replace it. Wound up just putting the carpet back down and continuing to shampoo it regularly :( People made strange choices in 80s trailer houses.
Omg totally have the bathroom problem. We have 4 and a half bathrooms and seriously sounded so awesome until we moved in and I realized all the bathroom cleaning that was gonna have to get done. I will definitely use these tips for my videos!
It also helps to use some type of drain filter, particularly in the shower. Don’t rinse hair down the drain - will cause massive clogs. An ounce of prevention, etc. Great video!
I somehow missed this when it was posted but glad I found it. Melissa, I completely relate to how you kept finding more junk to sort through in the bathroom cabinets. I swear that during the night there are things that reproduce: stuff under the kitchen and bathroom sinks, plastic grocery bags and paper. No matter how often I declutter and reorganize this stuff there's always more of it!
I have also just moved into a new house. We went from 1 small bathroom and one 1/2 bath to another small bathroom and one huge bathroom. They are both gorgeous with the showers lined from floor to ceiling in that ceramic tile that mimics wood, with stone detail and stone floors. I became a big fan of using a squeegee after showers to maintain my shower in between cleanings. And it made regular cleaning so much easier. With this new tile there are so many grooves that I quickly realized squeegeeing was frustrating and just near impossible without squeegeeing each tile individually. So I have the after shower spray, but I knew I’d need to be more diligent with regular cleaning. Obstacle #2 is having fixed shower heads with out the space to replace them with removable shower heads. How am I going to rinse my shower after I’ve scrubbed it down? I thought I’d share my solution in case anyone else struggled with this, or I’d love to hear other solutions. I bought one of those pesticide bottles from the garden department. The kind you fill halfway, pump to pressurize and then use the attached hose a sprayer. I wrote “WATER” on it so my husband doesn’t mistake it for his weed killer sprayer and I use it to spray and rinse my shower after I’ve cleaned it. Anyway, love your videos. I discovered them over a year ago just as we had started renovating our old house preparing to sell. Thanks!
Hey Melissa, what do you think about silicone toilet bowl brushes? And what brand do you recommend whether it's regular or silicone? Thank you for all the amazing tips; you've changed my life since I discovered you 6 years ago!
Hard water hacks please!!! I moved to a new city where the water is horribly hard. There are stains in the pots, in the sinks, clothes are horribly hard after being washed. I prefer to use natural products
I'm using a 20% citric acid and destiled water solution as "cloth softer" but I wanna use something natural againts hard water stains that is not toxic and contaminating
@@Ego-de4dt I used it, but I prefer citric acid for 2 reasons. First, I can regulate the acidity the way I want, vinegar has just 6% of acidity and for this water as hard as rocks it's not enough; second, I don't like the smell, even though it vanish from the clothes, it kind of remains in the laundry room and not,it's not an option for me.
I have insanely hard water.. it varies thru the year too, I tried vinegar in my laundry.. didn't really do much.. I found calgon water softener for laundry (I have found it at Walmart in the US) and it is awesome, makes my detergent work better and rinse out clean. The clothes were stinky- not anymore!
I’m so glad you addressed the toilet bowl brush and canister. I hate them so much that I would through them away. I even started using the expensive disposable thingys. I like how you rest the brush under the toilet lid to drain before returning it to the brush canister. Thanks for the tips.
Love all your hacks but extra toilet paper rolls should be stored inside the cabinet and not by the toilet where it can be “victim of nasty splashes”! 😉
priscila brine totally agree with you. It’s exactly what I thought. I have a decorative toilet paper holder which I hang on the wall. Looks pretty, gives the bathroom color and keeps the toilet paper nice and clean
Extra toilet paper may also be kept in decorative canisters , against the wall, protected inside the canisters but also easily a accessible for guests.
No idea how long i have been here, but the cleaning toolbox was one of my favorite videos along with the washer and dryer cleaning videos. Congrats on a million you deserve your success
Hi I wanted to thank you so much for your toilet cleaning in 3 minutes I wasn’t sure it would work for me because I struggled with hair from my animals never thought of using dry paper towels. I have never cleaned my toilets in 3 minutes so happy. Can’t wait to try the bath and shower. It’s very helpful for step by step tricks of your trade might just get my house in order for mor me time
When cleaning my toilet, I buy a brush with a holder that will hold liquid. I pour Lysol into the holder enough to cover the brush. When I need to give my toilet a cleaning, I just take it out and it’s ready to brush. After I flush, I clean my brush in the clean water and place it back into the Lysol.
I do the same thing. I don’t have kids so I just have it submerged in full strength mr clean between cleanings. I think it cleans better when I do that. Although I still use toilet cleanser too
For my toilet brush clean, I will rinse the brush and clean out the pot, then I fill the pot with detol or some disinfectant and let the brush soak in there for a couple of hours, then it gets rinsed and left to dry. The next time it's used I will put the toilet product in the bowl and throw in an extra bleach tablet then pop the brush in so the brush soaks as the bleach tab fizzes. I was wondering what your thoughts about steam cleaning a toilet.
This sounds like a dumb question, but what do you do with your microfiber cloths after you use them for daily touch-ups? Do you machine wash them straight away?
I clean professionally and my biggest trouble is hard water stains! Especially on glass shower doors. Could you do a video addressing this? Maybe stainless steel too? Is pumice stone safe for all porcelain toilets?
I use cut up towels and other rags. One day I'll be fancy enough to have specific cleaning cloths for different purposes. I would LOVE to buy the Makers cloths, but it is not in my tiny tiny little budget.
Most horrifying guest experience for me was drying my hands on the hand towel. I was the first guest to arrive so I offered to help in the kitchen so I went and washed my hands beforehand. Later while I ate I was smelling this really poopy smell. I thought it was someone else at the table. Later on that night I used their bathroom and I discovered skid marks all over the hand towel. Actual chunks. I helped prepare dinner and then ate after wiping my hands on that towel. It’s been at least 10 years since that happened, and it still horrifies me to think of. If they had toddlers I would have gotten over it, but it was only adults living there. I had a really difficult time staying friends with them and actually am not friends with them anymore. I did do a tester trip to their bathroom like a year after the dinner party because I thought there was no way people could live like that and there was poop on the hand towel again so I couldn’t shake off the revulsion that everything they touch is so dirty.
I wholly agree with the quick clean on daily...that is if you can clean it in 1-2-3...than do it. For instance after turning the sink off wipe the water splashes. After eating rinse and put dish in dishwasher, clean as I cook..etc. I made a routine where I dedicated one day of the week to a room to deep/thoroughly cleaning, leaving one day a week to relax. So my cleaning schedule is Mon-kitchen-dishes/dishwasher,scrub sink, disinfect microwave stove...etc Tuesday-bedroom-closet/clothes remove random items like books/papers We'd-bathroom toilet sink shower Thursday-living room papers to recycle or put elsewhere wipe glass etc Friday-other rooms like guest or office Sat- vacuum dust and laundry Sun-relax (sometimes switch with fri or sat depending on what's going on) I also made rules for myself that I usually stick to 1-no dishes in sink before going to bed (if I'm exhausted then I do them in morning in) 2-make bed in moring. Not real ally hotel standard but semi fix 3wipe sink after use ... My mom says have the house clean to a point that anyone can come unexpected and your okay....for instance a plummer to unclog the shower or an electrician etc I like neatness and try to but at times I fail...im human after all
What are tips for cleaning dark colored grout like gray or black? Many grout cleaners have ingredients to lighten grout but I haven't found products that keep dark grout dark and clean.
Mrs Henderson I have dark tiles I read this online and it WORKS trust me, baking soda water paste leave it 4 hours and come back with like a scrubbing brush or toothbrush some rubbing alcohol and watch it turn WHITE
Great tips. Do you find the toilet bowl cleaner recipe without the essential oil works for acrylic toilets? I’ve read several places I shouldn’t use EO with plastic based surfaces. What is your experience? Thanks for the link to your decluttering video! I think the bathroom re-clutters the most of any room in the house with products and such. 💄💅🏼🛁
Melissa OMG y'all are almost at 1 million congratulations y'all deserve it! 👊👊I tossed out the toilet bowl brush ahem years ago! That's just a germ infested gadget! I'm in love with Clorox toilet bowl wand with disposable cleaning head! Absolutely amazing..attach the head to the wand, get it wet, scrub the inside of the toilet & release the attached head in the garbage & your done! Melissa you need to invest in one.. please! You'll thank me later 🤗💙 From Tennessee 💙
Tyree Courtney Hi there, wow - I’ve just Googled this product after reading your comment. I would LOVE this. I’ve never seen something like this in South Africa. May need to order online. Thanks for sharing ☺️

Hi Melissa, I love your videos and ideas! Thanks for making cleaning time effective and more importantly, clean effective and money saving. You're a cleaning genius!
You can buy the Clorox tolet cleaaner thise r disinfectans i just scrub the toilet with the product n leave on the brushbfoen10 minutes after 1p minites is disinfected just rinse it.
For the toiletbrush I use straight up use 70% pure rubbing alcohol and baking soda...some time if out of those I use bleach but hate the small o reg bleach give me headaches, so I use scented bleach instead!
Get well soon, Melissa! Thank you for your motivating videos. I have just started a small balcony garden. Would love some tips on taking care and cleaniness of indoor n outdoor plants.
I feel ya! Sick with a daycare cold, we’ve had so many since my toddler started daycare earlier this year! 😤 Growing up with 2 sisters, my parents would always insist we catch any of our hair as it fell out during our shower and stick it to the shower wall. We’d then throw it away afterwards and it’d stop the drain getting clogged with our hair. I still do this today! 👌😊
Hi Mellisa, if you are going to promote microfabire cloths can you please make sure to mention to your viewers that they release microplastic into the ocean, and the ways they can minimise that? Such as using a guppy friend wash bag (catches 99% of microfibres), washing them in a full load, washing them with cold water etc?
Thanks for reminding me to put one of those wash bags on my shopping list! I love using microfibre cloths. Mine are not the best quality so have taken to mend them. I think it looks fun. I‘m in Europe so I wouldn‘t want to deal with tariffs and shipping costs, otherwise I‘d order some from clean my space, of course.
Can you update cleaning hacks for marble floors and counter. I have marble flooring in house, and marble bathroom counter. I am afraid to use cleaning products, i generally use dish soap and scrub.
I like to load the dishes and/or wipe either the toilet or the vanity right before I get in the shower. If anything gross splashes on you, you don't have to worry about it.
shatterspeed same here! I nearly always get my routine cleaning done first thing in the morning, while still in my PJ’s, and then I get showered and dressed!
The worst thing I've seen in someone else's bathroom was a towel so dirty the whole room stank of it. Is there anything worse than washing your hands clean and then feel them get all dirty again because you wiped them? >
Very good, clear tips Melissa! Thanks so much- 2 problems I need to tackle are hard water stains in the toilet, and MOLD growing in the corners and tile grout! I like lemon oil to shine fixtures (maybe once a year😂) and also Borax sprinkled into the toilet bowl helps freshen. Anyway, the best tip is to keep on top of the little messes daily, and hair, yes, even on the floor-I have used even dry toilet paper to gather and dispose of that, yuck!!💕
I don't use a toilet brush. Instead I use the Clorox toilet wand. It's inexpensive and will last forever. You just have to buy the scrubby cleaner filled scented heads to insert. After using you promptly click the dirty head into the trash! I love love love these!!! So worth it!
Hope you feel better soon! One tip if you are someone that constantly forgets to wipe your bathroom counter is to leave a drying cloth on the counter/by the sink. It may not look aesthetically pleasing but it is convenient and you are constantly reminded because it's out in the open. We have these super absorbent cloths on every bathroom counter in my house and it is so simple to wipe up any mess/spills immediately.
Bathrooms - MUST be cleaned DAILY - because they are used on a DAILY basis. I make the time, by picking up after myself and putting things back where they belong. My bathroom is my sanctuary- I use it - it is my body that has to sit on the toilet , use the shower and Tub - so WHY would I want it gross and unsanitary.???? If you clean and pick up DAILY / it will remain clean.!!!!! I keep paper towels in my storage draw and Scrubbing bubbles or any nice cleaner such as Fabuloso and wipe everything down, once I am finished with my morning routine - or at night, including around and behind the toilet. Nothing worst than grossness behind and around the toilet. I also keep Disposable Scrubbing Bubbles toilet 🚽 cleaning pads- since I think toilet brushes are gross and unsanitary - NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU “ Sanitize” them !
Melissa, thank you for your video. Where can I get cabinet door organizer that you show in this video for your bathroom? I like the idea of having on outside space for a towel.. Thanks!
I LITERALLY just fussed at my kids for having huge toothpaste blobs all over the sinks, and then I saw your comment. I thought it was just my kids, but maybe it's something all kids do.
Gabby Castillo omg! I have three daughters. No issue there with aiming. BUT, when my three nephews come to visit, 15 yrs, 12yrs and 10 yrs old, they could care less of the piss all over the toilet and floor. My daughters walk in to use the facilities and she walks right back out and calls me in there. ( this is an issue for years! Yes my sister has fought them tooth and nail, to stop doing that but it doesn’t help that my BIL is a manchineel who pees all over the wall, floor and seat. He’s 55 years old and will not clean up after himself, OR wash his hands. He’s a Administrator for a Nursing Home, ta boot! Whew, I feel better after my rant... PS: I made my 15 year old nephew march right back in and clean up his urine mess by the way. My poor Sissy 🥺. Lol
FaithTV no hon, I promise all kids do that! My youngest will plop a glob of toothpaste inside the sink, so I have to take tissue and wipe it up.,🥵....the perks of Motherhood, 😂. It doesn’t matterHow many times I will scold her and try to talk to her about not doing that, she does it anyway.
The scariest thing I ever saw in someone else's bathroom was dog poop. At first I thought aww their dog had an accident on the floor. When I stepped out to tell my friend she informed me her dog was trained to poop in the bathroom. She proceeded to show me how they put puppy pads in the tub for the dog to pee on!
I still feel sick thinking about this but years ago when I was a student my boyfriend of the time was cleaning his bathroom. I walked in to find him dipping a sponge into the toilet water and using it to scrub the toilet. He then dipped it back into the toilet water and used it to clean the sink! I couldn't believe it! And he couldn't understand what the problem was! I had to quickly leave before I was sick and I never went back 🤢
When I was in college, I went with my roommate to some guy's place. His place was disgusting! 20 years ago, I didn't mind his unclean bachelor pad. However, thinking back on it, is grossing me out. Why would you invite people to your place knowing it looked like a tornado passed through? Well, after about an hour, I had to use the bathroom. The bathroom was horrendous! There was no way I was sitting on that toilet. I actually thought about sitting on the edge of, and peeing into, the tub. But the tub was just as nasty as the toilet. I ended up taking everything off from the waist down, except my shoes, stood and straddled the toilet, while holding my pants.
Omg! A shared bathroom with and old men, who's almost blind and refuse to sit when he pee... the disaster in and around the toilet... but the worst thing is that the floor was linoleum and was peeling off around the toilet... you can imagine the horror
Is the tea tree oil just for a scent or does it have another use? I ahve shower doors and hard water I've tried everything, nothing gets the hard water/ soap scum off, help?
One time I cleaned an apartment that had an overflowing kitty litter box. It was so full, there were cat terds piles up all behind it. It was a big mound of terds!!
hi, thanks a lot for the video, id sure does encourage me for today... I woul like to hear any advice for bathroom storage where there is just a sink with no counter, a tiny shelf, a bath with some shampoo holder and a toilet. we can't drill holes in the ceramic wall and the space is tiny - any suggestions for a small cupbord that can be hung without drilling? or a tiny tiny one for the floor? I'm getting desperate... :-(
Bathroom horror story: we had a bathroom in the basement which was primarily used for the kids playroom/laundry room. I went downstairs to do some laundry and there was a horrible smell. The kids didn't flush the toilet and there were critters crawling in the toilet. We don't have a bathroom downstairs anymore 🤢
My master bathroom toilet has a constant mildew problem. I clean it with bleach, an within a week,(or before) it's back. How do I get rid of it for good? BTW Ive tried Ty-D-Bowl and Lysol "tank" systems. No good!
Hi Melissa! ❤️your videos! Can u do a review on the silicone toilet brushes? I feel like they wouldn’t be able to do such a good job compared to the regular brushes. Thanks 👍😁
Bathroom Horror Story: just put my two sons in the tub, and gathered their clothes to toss in the hamper just outside the room. My oldest son (4y) begins screaming: “EMMETT IS POOOPIIIIIIINGGGGG!!!!” I launch myself headlong back into the bathroom to see Emmett, age 1, standing at the edge of tub, hand scooping his poop and flinging it out of the tub across the narrow room. As he giggles and yells, “Poo-Poo ucky!!” his horrified elder brother is hopping up and down, shrieking in the farthest end of the tub, and smelly projectiles coat the rug, the floor, and the sink cabinets. 🤦🏼♀️
Love your video!!!! However I have a problem no one else can solve... Can you? There is a really thick...hard substance in the bottom of my toilet I can't get rid of no matter what I try or how hard and long I scrub!!😠😡😠😡 can you please help me 🤗🤗
I have a bathroom with no window. They should outlaw this! If you have a window always leave it open a crack. It will reduce humidity, thus mold and mildew and bad smells
Keep your curtains and/or shower doors open after your shower. Turn the fan on and leave the door open. Your mildew and mold issues will be reduced drastically.
We recently moved into a house where the bathroom has like idk this rubbery molding on the ceiling and its full of mold. Short of straight bleach idk how to get rid of it! My hubby cleaned the vent fan and light and it was a tertible nightmare. Like yourself, dirty bathrooms make me cringe! I'd love any advice how to get rid of this mold without passing out from bleach fumes please! Btw,is castille soap good for cleaning bathrooms? Does it kill germs? Looking for a more natural way to clean as i suffer horific optical migraines
The most horrible guest powder room I have encountered was all black porcelain, brass taps, and mirrored tiles over all walls and ceiling. Apart from being vulgar taste, it must have been a cleaning nightmare. But, then who would notice. It was so uncomfortable seeing my reflection everywhere and in every position.
Patricia Muir my best friend growing up had a bathroom exactly like the one you’re describing. Hers was ALL mirror. Not a speck of tile or sheetrock even the ceiling except the porcelain was pink!!! Horrible haha
I was having apoplexy because a toilet was unusable because I couldn't tell that it had ever been cleaned. And my experience of the recent past was that it was going to be a major effort to get rid of the scale. But to my pleasant surprise, the water here is so soft that qll that was needed was Comet and a brush. So first determine the softness of the water.
The worst thing I saw was someone who used rags as tp... not kidding, I was a teen and at my best friends grandparents house. I had to use the restroom, my friend knew I'd be looking for the tp so after she got done laughing, she got me some tissue. Never went back to grannies again.
There are still people who use cloth as toilet paper cause they say paper has chemicals in it. I dont know i guess it does but i just can't do cloth towels for that part lol.
I always try to think how my guests see my whole house, but I’m a perfectionist anyway. I can’t stand for my throw rugs to be out of line with my doors or furniture, the hand towels must hang evenly, the window blinds must be hanging straight at the bottom, I’m very particular! I can walk in any room of my home and I know if something is out of place. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t live in a museum, my home is lived in, but I can’t stand a dirty house. Thanks for sharing your tips!

My mother didn't have microfiber cleaning towels but I do, they are my best friends on cleaning day.😎
My uncle is a Marine, he complimented my home and cleanliness, and I was honored 😂😂😂 it means a lot!
My mother is the same way. She cleaned for years apartment and houses for real estate. I have her cleaning, bug. She's still the same way too.
Please make a video on how to clean and get rid of mold in your bathroom tub/tiles
Tessa Fields Yeah that’s the most important issue to me at least 😊
this is a good one because everyone has a different opinion on how to kill mold, some say bleach doesn't kill it and only vinegar does...
You should make a video adressed to teenagers showing them how they can minimise their mess around the house.
That'a a good idea!
CPZ yes! Great idea! I would share that with every one of my friends, we all have teens
OMGsh yes! My teenagers make such a mess, even just making a bowl of cereal, they spill milk and leave it in the counter. It's like they walk through the house and stuff just falls off of them lol! They are definitely clutter blind.
Yeah hopefully someone else asking them might help . Parents can keep yelling
Yes. This would be amazing and what they can do by what age.
I just started using white vinegar everywhere-laundry included! Thank you!
In case no body told you- great job on keeping up with your home. Chronic pain is no fun and I'm inspired by recognizing your effort! :)
Thanx for that great idea as I too suffer from chronic pain and fatigue. I will make sure I put those little kits together. TFS and take care........
Not sure what a glass sponge is but that is a great idea for those of us with arthritis. Thanx and take care......
I’m so sorry you’re feeling sick, Melissa. If it makes you feel any better, you look fantastic!
Thank you!!
You can always schedule weekly employee training at your house where they have to clean everything... ;)
There are a lot of videos on how to de-clutter. Could you do one on how to STAY de-cluttered? I struggle with this quite a bit.
A good rule of thumb to stay decluttered: for each item that comes into your home, one has to be taken out in its place.
Yep. Me too.
I started doing a quick cleaning every night for the past three nights after I put my daughter to bed. It has really helped a lot! Thank you for these tips!
Melissa would love a video on dusting, there must be a better way to do it
Niela Drew don’t buy things that need dusting.
Squint a lot and you don’t see it as much!
Niela Drew try a dust spray on a duster, not the surface directly, it helps a ton though using it exclusively will cause product buildup so use it for weekly touch ups and rotate with regular cleaning.
Get a good vacuum with a variable power setting so that you can dial down the suction while dusting the drapes and little brick-a-bracks.
Leaf blower!
Your excitement over bathrooms is top-notch.
Quick cleaning of the basin, bathroom floor everyday always helps me save time during my weekend cleaning session....
Mallika D K G I do that religiously too!!!
most horrifying thing in a bathroom: wall to wall carpet (I am in UK)
I cant imagine
Had that in a previous house, the floor was warped but you couldn't tell with the carpet on it, I found this out when I was gleefully pulling up the carpet to replace it. Wound up just putting the carpet back down and continuing to shampoo it regularly :(
People made strange choices in 80s trailer houses.
Congratulations on the way to 1 millions ☺️☺️ I like your videos, it helps me to keep my house clean..Thank you so much Melissa ❤️
Love your channel already, but the DIY recipes make your channel a MUST watch! Thank you. Your recipes are AWESOME!!
Al Xvp she’s going to tell you to use vinegar as a fabric softener xo
@@Ego-de4dt I used it, but I prefer citric acid for 2 reasons. First, I can regulate the acidity the way I want, vinegar has just 6% of acidity and for this water as hard as rocks it's not enough; second, I don't like the smell, even though it vanish from the clothes, it kind of remains in the laundry room and not,it's not an option for me.
Rub with wax paper after cleaning( not pots obviously)
I have insanely hard water.. it varies thru the year too, I tried vinegar in my laundry.. didn't really do much.. I found calgon water softener for laundry (I have found it at Walmart in the US) and it is awesome, makes my detergent work better and rinse out clean. The clothes were stinky- not anymore!
I still use the cleaner with the tea tree oil love it! Even wrote the info on how to make it on a paper under bathroom sink.. thanks! Bunches!
I’m so glad you addressed the toilet bowl brush and canister. I hate them so much that I would through them away. I even started using the expensive disposable thingys. I like how you rest the brush under the toilet lid to drain before returning it to the brush canister. Thanks for the tips.
I have done the same...just tossed it when it got dirty. Never thought about cleaning it before. And yes...loved the way you dried it!
Hi Melissa, hope you feel better soon and thank you for still working hard for us fans.
Love all your hacks but extra toilet paper rolls should be stored inside the cabinet and not by the toilet where it can be “victim of nasty splashes”! 😉
priscila brine and if you don’t have a cabinet?
priscila brine totally agree with you. It’s exactly what I thought. I have a decorative toilet paper holder which I hang on the wall. Looks pretty, gives the bathroom color and keeps the toilet paper nice and clean
I agree. I get clear plastic bags and wrap each paper roll and stack them up. I love how it looks
Yep
Extra toilet paper may also be kept in decorative canisters , against the wall, protected inside the canisters but also easily a accessible for guests.
I have incorporated a tray in my bathroom & bedroom & what a game changer.
Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
What kind of disinfectant did you use to spray your toilet bowl brush?
I've never thought about spraying the brush with a disinfectant. Great info.
No idea how long i have been here, but the cleaning toolbox was one of my favorite videos along with the washer and dryer cleaning videos. Congrats on a million you deserve your success
So the secret to a clean bathroom is to clean it, all the time? That’s genius! 😉
Although I still use toilet cleanser too
@@alexisg7644 I do, too.
Melissa, thank you for the recipe for cleaning the toilet bowl. You can find the plastic ketchup bottles at Dollar Tree two for a dollar!
Did you try them? Are they sturdy?
Alicia Rogers was
@@skh770 yes...........they are great!
I clean professionally and my biggest trouble is hard water stains! Especially on glass shower doors. Could you do a video addressing this? Maybe stainless steel too? Is pumice stone safe for all porcelain toilets?
What would you do to the cleaning cloth right after wiping down your mirror and sink?
Rinse it really good and ring it out then hang it on a designated hanger in my cleaning cupboard. Or simply toss it in the dirty pile
Mine go straight into the wash and get washed right along with whatever the next load is.
Tori, if you're using microfiber, don't wash them with anything else!! There's a CMS video on why not to :)
I use cut up towels and other rags. One day I'll be fancy enough to have specific cleaning cloths for different purposes. I would LOVE to buy the Makers cloths, but it is not in my tiny tiny little budget.
Aaaaaand apparently I have two different RUclips accounts.
love your videos. I just noticed only 2000 more and you'll be at a million, so deserved. thank you for all your brilliant information.
I brush my hair positioning my head over the sink. This way, all hair that fall out stays over the sink and I can easily remove them.
Alexandre e Marcia Vanetta same
Alexandre e Marcia Vanetta great idea
Eeekkk.. blocks up the sink over time...not good..
Try doing it over the toilet instead
@@MariaLopez-hc2nm Not if you clean them up each time.
So my cleaning schedule is
Mon-kitchen-dishes/dishwasher,scrub sink, disinfect microwave stove...etc
Tuesday-bedroom-closet/clothes remove random items like books/papers
We'd-bathroom toilet sink shower
Thursday-living room papers to recycle or put elsewhere wipe glass etc
Friday-other rooms like guest or office
Sat- vacuum dust and laundry
Sun-relax (sometimes switch with fri or sat depending on what's going on)
I also made rules for myself that I usually stick to
1-no dishes in sink before going to bed (if I'm exhausted then I do them in morning in)
2-make bed in moring. Not real ally hotel standard but semi fix
3wipe sink after use
...
My mom says have the house clean to a point that anyone can come unexpected and your okay....for instance a plummer to unclog the shower or an electrician etc
I like neatness and try to but at times I fail...im human after all
Great video, what strength Hydrogen peroxide should be use for the loo cleaner?
What are tips for cleaning dark colored grout like gray or black? Many grout cleaners have ingredients to lighten grout but I haven't found products that keep dark grout dark and clean.
Is regular dish soap ok?
Mrs Henderson I have dark tiles I read this online and it WORKS trust me, baking soda water paste leave it 4 hours and come back with like a scrubbing brush or toothbrush some rubbing alcohol and watch it turn WHITE
Mrs Henderson it’s a cheap investment the big baking soda 4 lb is cheap at Walmart or whereever I live if that doesn’t work use grout ease from amazon
Cola (yes soda pop), pour on grout wait 5 minutes scrub with brush, rinse with vinegar and water mixture
@@SheetalMakhan it is called the Clorox toilet wand.. the initial starter pack came with 1 wand, a caddy to hold the refills in & 36 refills..it comes in a blue box with Clorox toilet wand on the packaging..didn't cost more than $20 here in Tennessee & to purchase additional refills isn't over $5..hope this was help! I promise you'll love it!
I was wondering if these worked. Im a product junkie...
Tyree Courtney amazing - thanks so much for the info ☺️

Hi Melissa, I love your videos and ideas! Thanks for making cleaning time effective and more importantly, clean effective and money saving. You're a cleaning genius!
I love your homemade toilet bowl cleaner recipe 👍👍 the only thing we use at our house. Thank you!
I've been cleaning with solution for several times worked great
What is the disinfectant you used on the toilet brush.
Peggy it was a spray of alcohol. ☺ i have that too, it's from the dollar store
Can anyone tell me how much of the DIY toilet bowl cleaner to use. Is that recipe for one use? Can you make extra and store for future use?
You use it as you would any cleaner. You don't use the entire bottle on one cleaning.
I am afraid to use cleaning products, i generally use dish soap and scrub.
unicornandleprechaun green soap!
Hope you start feeling better. You guys are awesome.
The worst thing I've seen in someone else's bathroom was a towel so dirty the whole room stank of it. Is there anything worse than washing your hands clean and then feel them get all dirty again because you wiped them? >
vinuristhebest or black foot prints on the wall in front of the toilet and a “sponge” looking soap in the soap dish? 😱
Should keep paper towels in the bathroom for guests. They should not have to use a family towel anyway.
Anyway, the best tip is to keep on top of the little messes daily, and hair, yes, even on the floor-I have used even dry toilet paper to gather and dispose of that, yuck!!💕
yassss new video notification from my fav cleaning channel 😍
Lol Same feeling everytime!
I don't use a toilet brush. Instead I use the Clorox toilet wand. It's inexpensive and will last forever. You just have to buy the scrubby cleaner filled scented heads to insert. After using you promptly click the dirty head into the trash! I love love love these!!! So worth it!
Good job Melissa and using natural products. 👍🦔 mr hedgey says thank you 🙏
Love the DIY cleaning solution that you showed. I’m going to try it..
Thank you for this video! Great tips! Hope you feel better soon. 😊
Thanks!
Bathrooms are the most annoying to clean especially w little kids who leave toothpaste on the sink and little boys who can’t aim 🤦🏽♀️
Or big boys. And they are always *so offended* if we suggest they wipe their spills argh
I LITERALLY just fussed at my kids for having huge toothpaste blobs all over the sinks, and then I saw your comment. I thought it was just my kids, but maybe it's something all kids do.
@@faithtvonline oh, I was talking about bigger boys. 50-year-old boys 😠
The way she explains her level of cleanliness she wants is so adorable hehe
Tell us your bathroom horror stories!
I had to quickly leave before I was sick and I never went back 🤢
It's a reoccurring thing. A b/f who loves spicy food. Errr
It was a big mound of terds!!

we can't drill holes in the ceramic wall and the space is tiny - any suggestions for a small cupbord that can be hung without drilling? or a tiny tiny one for the floor?
I'm getting desperate... :-(
Bathroom horror story: we had a bathroom in the basement which was primarily used for the kids playroom/laundry room. I went downstairs to do some laundry and there was a horrible smell. Bathroom Horror Story: just put my two sons in the tub, and gathered their clothes to toss in the hamper just outside the room. My oldest son (4y) begins screaming: “EMMETT IS POOOPIIIIIIINGGGGG!!!!”
I launch myself headlong back into the bathroom to see Emmett, age 1, standing at the edge of tub, hand scooping his poop and flinging it out of the tub across the narrow room. As he giggles and yells, “Poo-Poo ucky!!” his horrified elder brother is hopping up and down, shrieking in the farthest end of the tub, and smelly projectiles coat the rug, the floor, and the sink cabinets.
🤦🏼♀️
Brittany Morgan hahaha something similar has happened with the 3 of mine... poopy bath time. Gotta love littles Lol
You win!
Earned your boy mom badge!! I've raised three... floaters... fun times!
Connie I so, so much prefer floaters to squishy, poopy softballs that have been hurled across the room 😂😂😂
You seem to be a very great writer. ❤️❤️
In both of my bathrooms there are windows right over the tub. A bad idea to place a window over a bathtub.
I always leave the window open after a shower or number 2 and my family always complains. I tell them to suck it up lol
Agreed!!!!!
@@kheventplanner open windows are the best to get that fresh air in haha
Yikes!
My mom cleaned houses for years and hated black sinks and tubs. Said it was almost impossible to get them done right.
Where do you rinse the toilet brush? 😣
I was wondering the same thing...well I guess u can get boiling water from the kitchen and rinse the brush on the toilet?
Thanks for all of your tips. My question is how to clean your in the door ice maker (yuk)
When they don't flush the toilet and/ or leaving the seat lid open...
Just started my cleaning business. Totally need some tips and tricks!!!
It's not that rare, lots of people do it to be more eco friendly!
I love your cleaning videos, new to them but they are very inspiring to clean
I always try to think how my guests see my whole house, but I’m a perfectionist anyway. I can’t stand for my throw rugs to be out of line with my doors or furniture, the hand towels must hang evenly, the window blinds must be hanging straight at the bottom, I’m very particular! I can walk in any room of my home and I know if something is out of place. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t live in a museum, my home is lived in, but I can’t stand a dirty house. Thanks for sharing your tips!
I'm the exact same way. I'm glad I'm not the only one!
Straightening and cleaning are two different things.
I am new to your channel and I really appreciate your helpful hints and your positive attitude. Especially when cleaning places that none of us want to clean. Right now I’m in the middle of a move and I am looking forward to watching more of your videos. On a sidenote somebody made the comment of A video for teenagers/kids regarding their cleaning ethics if you Already did a video can you send me the link or if you didn’t is that something you could do down the road?
