- People say im not a low kick stick guy, although thats partially true, if the stick brings it, I will absolutely rate a low kick high. CCM sticks lately have been excellent so do we have repaint, winner or both?
Love your reviews more and more (sticks are the best). I like you are going deeper in detail but still in very understandible level.Perfectly balanced review.
Thanks KB appreciate that and all your support on all my vids
Love the music haven’t heard Neffex in a long time! Also a little tip with the low kick stick if you lower your hand a little on wrist and snap shots I found you can really get that power very close to the mid kick sticks.
Neffex is my jam. He’s been releasing so much stuff check it out. I put it in a bunch of my videos. Thanks for the tip I’ve been experimenting on shot release since this video. My shot is pretty insane these days as I had to tweak it for now slap shots leagues since I’m super old haha
I got a T7 Pro last week, hot out of the container. Previous stick was the T6 Pro. The slightly different lie and shape of the heel got me at first. -Love- the new colour
The graphics are one of those that seem to divide everyone lol
I love it some hate it trigger is known for green so now people like wait is this a trigger
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews not going with green was a weird move imo. but it's about the perf, not the graphics :)
What's your take on the blade differences as mentioned by Justin in the review?
I actually really like the trigger 6 pro graphic. I think it’s the best one they’ve had and was bummed they completely changed it
Yeah? Graphics so subjective I’m opposite. This is fresh to me. But perfect time for the 6 it’s on sale! :)
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews yea! I’m not buying any more sticks anytime soon I still using the LX pro and it’s great. I have too many sticks Since don’t typically ever break them because I’m more of a stick handler/playmaker.
@@shogekimura yeah no need to fill the back up bin lol
Nah, the T4P dude, that's the real deal ;)
@@andersborum9267never heard of it
Thought I would write my thoughts on the Trigger 7 pro. My son has played AA travel hockey and plays high school hockey now, he's 15 sophomore this year.
He has always played D for travel hockey and High School he plays forward. He has had the FT 3 and 4 pro sticks but switched to the AS 3 and 4 pro because he has a extremely hard shot and liked better after using them. He has broken every CCM pro stick he has ever played with. People ask why we keep buying them and I say, because of his shot.
Now that he plays forward he wanted to try a low kick stick for the quick power. Ordered the Trigger 7 pro and he absolutely loves it. At practice other day he loaded up a wrist shot and snapped the stick in the middle. I got on Pure Hockey to see when I bought it and it was the last day of warranty. I called and they are sending a new one out after they received old one.
I thought this was supposed to be a stronger stick but no better then 3,4,5 and so on. Now my son is 15, 188# 5'10 solid built using a 75 flex and cutting 2" off stick.
Should he go to a 80 flex? He won't uses anything but CCM.
Flex won’t change the durability. You have to remember that these sticks are made for performance. If you shoot; and shoot a lot no top end stick lasts. They are meant to load and recoil as hard as possible and due to there light weight the carbon can’t take it for long.
It’s just part of what these sticks do.
Only way they last is for players that aren’t shooters.
That's why I keep buying them is because of how he shoots. We will keep buying them, thankfully I can.
@@victorlindquist5154 yeah and that’s the thing that makes me nuts, is in the end if you are fortunate enough to be able to afford it, I see no issues. Drives me crazy when people complain about stick prices when you can buy a 50$ stick, they o make those. It’s like complaining you can’t buy a Ferrari they aren’t meant to be for everyone. Then people buy it and complain about gas! Silliness. I buy top end sticks because I can afford it, and I prefer the weight and performance. Sucks when it breaks, but that’s the Risk you take for that performance right.
I think that’s the crazy thing! It’s a low kick stick at the end of the day but it does almost everything really well. It’s very fluid in release. The slight loss of power to improve the reaction time for speed of release is worth it in my opinion. I’m intrigued to see the as5 in November
Yeah that’s what makes the trigger a trigger still the best low kicker. Yes I can’t wait for the as-v stick
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews We have ASV Pro's showing up, not my stick, so I can't say much about it, but it does look very very nice
@@bleve97 oh no way! I’ve been keeping an eye out but haven’t seen anything here yet
Had an agent in store last night. Unfortunately a left so I couldn’t shoot it. They are using some trigger upper shaft shape and definitely lightweight. Mentions boron as part of the sticks build which I assume is fused either into the resin or the blade foam for feel. Makes feel like I need advanced science courses and a periodic table to understand there new tech.
@@adamca96 I guess so eh! Proof will be in the pudding, the adv original Vapor was hyped like this and really wasn’t anything special so I won’t hold my breath but same time I’m excited to try it
Awesome review! Picked this up since I loved the Trigger 6.
Thanks! Will be very similar so you should like it
The slow motion of the snap shot really show-cased the flex on it, but would love to see slow motion clips of the slap shot and wrister as well really emphasizing it up close.
I have a video ideal
On a high speed camera of slo mo of my shooting and testing release times of low kick / mid kick. It’s in works but still
Working on it
Can’t wait to see what you think of QR5 pro. I just got mine and can’t wait to try it.
Wicked! I enjoyed the qr10 and I shot around with a buddies qr5 and was impressed but needs a full
Review
...in the States, we call that "BOLD NEW GRAPHICS"...great review Bum!
It’s very bold and new
For sure :-D and thank you
I picked up a trigger 7 pro and brought it out against my FT5 pro for a shooting session and the FT5 pro was simply better in every way. The only spec they added to this stick from the trigger 6 pro was an added layer of carbon (STP) which increased the weight and took away some of the feel. Needless to stay I’m still using my FT5 pro.
Me too.
I didn’t bring out the ft5 in the video but I filmed my next one with it for comparison as it’s a shooting video. If you need the power the ft5 is just king
You can put live barn in pano and see the whole ice and zoom in on what you want
Yep unfortunately depending on rink sometikes don’t have it or it cuts out. It’s a shitty service but all I got for now !
Just realized that this stick isn’t a true one piece stick and is instead a fused two piece construction. Did you find that this made a difference compared to one piece sticks?
No difference anymore. Maybe back 5 years ago you would notice but not now. Sticks are far to balanced and advanced
did your trigger 7 pro feel a little stiffer than usual for its flex? i borrowed a trigger 7 pro from a friend of mine that had the same flex but it felt a bit stiffer than usual and he didnt cut it.
I always thought triggers were stiffer than other low kick sticks personally so this one was no different I always drop flex when going from mid to low
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Thanks, and also I compared heights with my 57’ hyperlite and it was only a tad bit smaller. Retail says it’s 55’ but it was a little taller. is this unusual and is only for the triggers aswell or does ccm do this for all their sticks like the jetspeed?
@@andreaouda7960 is it intermediate? The senior ccms are 63 inches retail. So I’m not sure why other than it’s intermediate
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews yes it is an intermediate stick but retail says 55 flex is 55’ and 65 flex is 57’ and the 55 flex that I’m trying out is more than 55 inches, possible 56 1/2 or so
@@andreaouda7960 wierd sorry wish I could help but I have no experience in the intermediates
I drag and snap for my shot (Auston Matthews style). The hyperlite and sync are perfect for that kind of shot in my opinion. However, with this stick…it rises a ton and feels off when taking that kind of shot for me. Can you explain blade differences in a video? I’ve heard you say “dampening the blade and stiffer blades”. Because I stick handle at the heel, and drag to shoot. What kind of blade should I go for?
Blade type shouldn’t affect this. I’m surprised a low kick stick would affect that as well since most low kicks keeps the puck lower by nature until you get use to it. Curve would affect this more. Blade type is just puck feel based on foams used, hyperlite has a very stiff pingy blade the trigger 7 is a bit better and not as pingy. But honestly that should matter for your shooting style so hard to say what’s going on
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Very interesting. I use the same specs with all of my sticks, and for whatever reason I can’t keep my shots down with the Trigger 7 while using the P28 curve. However, I will use my P28 SYNC and effortlessly hit my spots. Which prompted me to go back to PH and ask the sales guy there. He told me it’s because the blade is partially stiff and partially dampened on the Trigger 7 and the P28 just feels different with CCM. (This was the first time I heard of such things until you mentioned it in your video). So, I thought maybe that could be the reason. But anyway, thanks for the response and your time.
@@Jakuby21 yeah wish I had a reason but blade type really shouldn’t affect shot height. I mean maybe some accuracy as a stiffer blade will help keep shots exactly where you want them. Tough one though I’m gonna chop that up to the mid kick vs low kick just being different for you in these sticks.
hey so quick question. I’ve always used lizard grip for my twigs but they always wore down and I’m gonna use grip tape for the first time. Should I put a layer of tape first and then the grip tape or just straight up grip tape on the twig
I put regular stick tape first a slight layer and make a ridge for added grip. Plus grip tape sticks better to it than the stick
Justin, a quick question; I've been using the FT5P for quite some time now and although it's great for clappers, I find the blade dampened compared to the T6P and am considering the T7P. What's your oppinion on the FT5P vs T7P blade? (you state T7P comes across as somewhat "clunky").
Also, would like to see CCMs sticks come down in weight.
Yah seems to have a bit of a clunky feeling to it. To be most honest I never really understand blade feel unless it’s really noticeable in comparison to others. The as4 pro blade super lively and the puck jumps off it, the catalyst px is like wood and just the weirdest feel. But when it comes to jumping from stick to stick where there isn’t an attempt to make the blade completely different I struggle to find the differences a bit. I personally didn’t notice much between the ft5 and t7 as I have both and go back and forth in each game for fun
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews so AS4P is the most responsive (ping-esque) blade so far of the recent CCM sticks, unless I'm mistaken.
@@andersborum9267 yep very live blade
Curious why you switched back to the Hyperlite skates
The angle or pitch of the eyelets compared to the Mach. The hyperlites keep me more forward and in my toes. Aswell the boot itself feels more compact and less wide / bulky in the end the skates just work for me better once I switched back my game improved I was struggling in the Mach
Would rather CCM keep making 390 to 400 gram top end sticks that keep on keeping on than try to keep up with the weight shedding trend. Fragile sticks are more of a deterrent for me than slighty heavier weight.
I like my top end stick to be around 375 which should be doable to hold strength as low as the kick point is engineered correctly. The ft4/3 has the issues with the stick breaking st the kick points. 400 gram sticks should be second tier
Hi there, where would you place this stick on your stick rating chart? Would you say that this stick is better for forwards than the FT5 Pro?
It’s still a different style of stick it’s meant for a specific shot type not necessarily all
Forwards. Depends on your game, your shot style and play style. They both are excellent sticks. If you need a quick shot, never really take slappers or like
Me play no slap shots sometimes
It’s better than the ft5 pro. But if you like one timers and big bombs the ft5 does all that and isn’t far behind in release
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Alright, thank you very much
@@TangyLlama no worries
Looking for some advice. Love your videos. Im a novice beer leaguer and I’ve been running Sherwood for the past probably 6 years. I’ve gone through 4 ek 15s 2 ek 60s and now two element ones. I love the element ones but looking for something new. I love the shaft (rounded corners) and weight. I mainly take snap shots down low but also take some slappers. I’d appreciate the advice because I haven’t tried anything else because I’m worried about hating it after trying a warrior qre sl
Yeah switching sticks can end up super awesome and finding something great or hating it and. Waste of money so it’s. Tough call. I’m surprised you busted the element ones they are pretty durable. How long these sticks lasting you? Yeah the qre wasn’t my fav line either. There is alot to ask depending on what you like in sticks cost, top end, mid, budget, etc but if you are doing those style of shots but take a slapper once in awhile there is a few options. TMP pro from Sherwood amazing since you like Sherwood. Or prostock hockey sticks if budget is important. Triggers if you are ok spending more money. The best all round stick in my opinion is the Lxpro but again costly. Lots of options!
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews honestly
I’m not too worried on price! I actually have 1 ek 15 left and neither of my elements are broken. One I’ve been using for about a year once to twice a week during the season. I just bought my second. I’m more looking to change it up. I love the low kick and just looking to try something new. I won’t lie my sherwoods have been amazing! Love them especially the element ones just wanting to try something since I’ve been using nothing but Sherwood for so long. Not going to lie I still think the ek-15 is the best stick I’ve ever used.
@@logandavis8210 Sherwood has really stepped up I don’t blame you, I’m still in and out of the tMP and it’s amazing. If you get something try it!
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews thanks man! I’ll definitely look at snagging one!
@@logandavis8210 awesome!
After watching all your reviews im trying to decide whether to go FT4 pro or AS4 pro. I have been using normal P29ish curves all my life and want to know how hard it is to transitioning to a P28. I mainly do hard snaps & slaps. Would love to hear your thoughts!
I would go as4 as the FT4pro isn’t durable and disappointing when it blows up. I love it but also just spend money on sticks all the time which is not practical for everyone. As4 pro will be a great stick and be more durable. Since your style sounds like mine the as4 will do just fine. I wouldn’t change curves though if you like the p29. Everytime I change from my curve ( p28) I hate it and go back.
Test a p28 on someone stick like a friends or something first. You always want a new stick in your comfortable curves so you can judge the stick based on previous experiences. I once picked up a stick for review but they didn’t have a p28 so I did a p88. I thought the stick was just junk turned out was just the curve switch. So once I got the stick in my curve realized best to always try something new with comfort first.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Thanks for the quick reply! Im getting back into hockey and have quickly learned that the composites I use to use are now the new wood sticks lol. Tech has come a longg way.
Great advice for trying someome elses curve before spending the money. I see you are also from Toronto and Sportcheck has the AS4 pro on sale for $219 right now. Only have the p29 in 85 flex tho.
@@Ryan-ud9fk no prob always like replying to anyone who takes time to comment.
The tech has come a long way if you are just getting back into it. I started with the wood sticks 14 years ago or so! Tried one again recently and it’s a no for me now haha.
That’s a good deal since the new as5 stick is coming in a month the as4 will be on mark down most places. I don’t generally advise on flex changes either if you are used to something. Since again will just mess with the overall feel. Take a look around you should be able to find an as4 in your exact specs
Did you really shoot that stick w/ 75 Flex? If so, it’s definitely looking whippy looking back at your shots. You’re bigger than me, I’m 6’2, 195lbs and I have just 1 low kick, no brand sticks at 110 Flex. As for my other no brand Pro Stick, mid kick are at 100-105 flex.
Im new here so I don’t know your personal preferences. Since it’s a low kick stick, have you ever shot one higher than 75 flex?
Little back ground on me, I have rheumatoid arthritis and my hands can lose strength very quickly in a flare. My usually flex is 85. Lately I have been in a lot of pain and had to drop my flex since my wrists can’t take the pressure right now. It goes in and out unfortunately.
However in my opinion low kick sticks should be a lower flex than your mid kick preferences due to how it loads. So usually I rock 85 mid, 80 LK. I’m a ccm guy mostly. So have that option retail. I have a flex video that goes over that if you wanna check it out. Flex always comes down to preference and those personal aspects. When I was younger ( 6-7 years ago now ) I used to use 102 flex. But as my shot evolved and game my flex dropped to 85. Because you are taller having a longer stick at a higher flex is not to bad. I’m only 5’10 but around 205 right now.
Again check out my flex video May give you some ideas
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews shoot, my apologies. I just watched another video of yours about flexes & I was going to follow up on my response, like nevermind cuz it’s a never-ending argument. Forget what I said haha. But my personal side job, landscaping was calling me today instead of tmw, my boy’s birthday.
So again, my apologies. Now I know where you’re coming from. I’m 41, I think my body is catching up to my age. It’s my darn knee. X-ray place said, arthritis but my specialist says No but wants MRI. Here I am, 5 months pass, fighting w/ my damn insurance to get my MRI approved.
@@EstonianBerserker that’s crappy to hear! I feel your challenge. It’s all good. I love chatting gear and always love a good convo with anyone checking out my vids. Hope you get your knee sorted soon!
I know they have different flex profiles but do you prefer the Trigger 7 pro or the Jetspeed FTS5 Pro?
Depends on the game for me. I use the trigger for no slap shot play. Drop ins, over 40 and old timers as I can release anywhere and quick. Don’t need power on slappers. If I’m playing my regular league I will use the ft5 pro for overall versatility.
I just bought this cuz it was on sale at my local hockey shop now, shots on it for me come off real hot which is nice, unfortunately the weight and lack of puck feel on the blade is a huge bummer. I had the same experience where when I have my head up stick handling I didn’t know where the puck was on the blade and would lose the puck. Terrible puck feel IMO.
Really only the nexus line and true sticks have puck feel but you’re talking other issues with those sticks, ccm is all about shooting
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews yea, I have a pro stock Bauer it’s the BGP2B which is the Vapor adv and has really good puck feel but not a lot on shots. Can’t have it all I guess :(

@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews nexus was discontinued and the ccm alternative is ribcore skates
O shiiii been waiting on this one. “Let’s see that, in an instant replay” was that a quote from ace ventura😂? Maybe I’ll have to grab a trigg 6 pro now that they on sale 🤔 I’m weary tho cuz people saying the loading and power on it isn’t too good
Haha yeah ace Ventura takes me back to my child hood funny you picked that up.
End of the day the low kickers and trigger 6 don’t have the same power. The 6 I liked massive change over the 5. If you compare the trigger to a jetspeed the shot power is gonna lag but the release is slightly better so just depends on your game style and what you need. I always go back to the mids because my game is shot power can’t afford to lose it and gain release.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Haha I used to watch ace Ventura all the time. Very fair,I’ve only tried a couple of mid kicks but feel my style is more stick handling and quick release. Also liked the editing in this vid 👍

Was waiting for this review and am currently watching it in the waiting room while wifey is undergoing surgery (kidney stones .. don't go there). Justin, you clearly need more way mouth guard for the first part of the review; we can still make sense of a couple of words, although just barely :)
I was wondering if you've measured puck speed from clappers vs. snappers? Just like on your 35+ team, we're not allowed to use clappers but with a bit of practice, a waist level shot can generate quite a lot of power; the additional wind up for clappers tend to be wasted time for most players as it's harder to coordinate and can't keep increasing the rotational speed. I personally found that there wasn't that much of a difference and the traditional clapper wind up basically gives it away to the goalie.
What's your opinion on the T7P blade vs. the T6P? (who really likes a dampened blade on a hockey stick?)
Having used the FT5P for a couple of months, the hybrid design (and the dampened blade) isn't for me, although clappers are solid from this one. Again, the T4P stick is the best ever coming from CCM (very light, extremely durable and responsive blade) and they should do a re-run of this design or bring it back in new colors.
Hope your wife recovers my man! Haha yeah the mouth guard was just a joke of course being silly in this one.
I haven’t measured however, I’m picking up a pocket radar as I have heard much better things in terms of accuracy. I want something very accurate for when the warrior novium releases so I’ll add that in a video soon I like the idea. Haha funny thing is most want those blades that have the puck feel but for me I don’t always notice because I’m not a stick handler and my shooting style doesn’t really need feel. I don’t use dragging wristers much.
I do like blades that are very lively to get the puck off quickly. Moving away the ft5 eh are you going to the trigger?
Unfortunately because I test sticks far apart and can’t afford to purchase the old version with the new can’t comment if the blade feel changed between the two gens.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews thanks for the support man, everything helps. Ah, not moving away from the FT5P (clappers are great with this one) but the blade is noticable dampened vs the T6P; if what you're stating about the "clunkiness" of the blade for the T7P, then it's a skip for me but I'll definitely check it on ice when possible. I suggest making a test of the full wing up vs. horizontal wind up clapper once you get the pocket radar.
daymm lx pro still top dog - great stick except needs moar grip
I know just got one again as my gamer and I was like man I was on point stick rules but frock me this grip wtf lol
